Please tell me there's no one here who still thinks Trump is a man of integrity.

I've never thought he's a man of integrity. I've been criticizing him here since 2015.

New Dolgaria wrote:Also, what were people's reaction to the recent abortion laws in Georgia and other states?

A good start.

At the state level, there needs to be action to abolish abortion except in exceptional cases (mother's life).

At the federal level, Congress needs to ensure access to prenatal care through Medicaid and SCHIP.

I've heard he's a very polite and well-spoken man in private, so this may just be a persona that he thinks is necessary to maintain support, but I still can't support it. Doesn't mean that he hasn't done good things though.

I really do wish the United States would adopt electoral reforms designed to increase choice at the ballot box. Instant-runoff voting (a.k.a. ranked-choice voting) would not be difficult to adopt, and it would preserve the same essential features of the current system that many Americans like -- geographic representation, clear winners and losers, stable two-party government, etc.

Congrats!

Your master's thesis, I assume...

Or are you at a university that uses "thesis" as a synonym for "dissertation"?

*** JULY 2019 ELECTION ***

Nominations are now open for the July 2019 Senatorial Election:

http://nsrighttolife.proboards.com/thread/133/july-2019-senate-nominations

I assume three senators will be elected . . . I still need to purge the citizenship roster of expired members.

After the purge, I see that there are 22 citizens on the updated roster.

Three of you, however, need to reestablish residence or tell me which nation here is yours:

Free States of Brazil
Northwestinghamshire
The New United States

Not yet, but I can let you know when it is (maybe not until mid August).

Yes, though I prefer magister.

Congrats on passing your resolution United Massachusetts, can't say i'm ecstatic about it however.

Same.

This section was a self-contradiction:

"[Transgender] experiences are not the product of 'mental illness,' 'confusion,' 'disease,' or anything of the sort -- rather, their understanding of their relationship to the world in the lens of gender does not correspond with their biological sex."

The way that I read it:

"Transgender persons aren't confused. They're just men who think they're women, or women who think they're men."

EDIT: Not to mention that even the overwhelmingly "progressive" psychological community has a name for the condition: "gender dysphoria" or "gender identity disorder."

On a different but related note I find it rather absurd that people think the supposed 4 representatives are representative of the future of the Democrats/America: they were all elected in some of the most lop-sided districts in the country, with no serious challengers.

Sorry, what does the lop-sidedness matter? People in lopsided districts have are more in tune with the party as a whole than moderates in competitive districts that have to make concessions.

Sometimes true, but being a Democrat in South Dakota means something very different than being a Democrat in Manhattan and I wouldn't say the one in SD is a less sincere member just because they aren't "far left wing" or even "left wing". By setting up people who won with 85% of the vote and didn't even face a serious Republican challenger as the face of the party they sideline not only moderates but substantial and historical components of their party. Besides, Dan Lipinski is also in one of the most lop-sided districts in the country.

Any other anime fans here? I ask because one of the most well-regarded anime studios, Kyoto Animation, was the victim of a deadly arson attack yesterday. 33 people dead and 37 wounded. Together that's more than half of their staff. It's the worst mass-murder in Japanese post-war history.

That's horrible. While I cannot call myself an anime fan, that's really awful to hear.

The studio, the victims, and their families are in my prayers.

Yes, and the democrats have never sidelined anyone in their history.

I've got this song stuck in my head today ("Paid in Full"): https://youtu.be/LQe7X-WItO0

The group (from a Bible college in my state) has great harmony, and the chorus/a capella section is catchy and tough to sing - only four breaths in it!

America's current political class has to be one of the most decadent and depraved political classes in world history. The crimes being committed are comparable with, if not worse than, those of Elagabalus, the Marquis de Sade, and the like.

I just found out by Wikipedia that the Kven people has their own flag now:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kven_people#/media/File:Flag_of_the_Kven_people.svg

It was on the news apparently in 2017, but I didn't see it then. (Substitute "women" with "kven" as it translates it wrong):

Hey guys, I just started a new job and I'm finally settling into a rhythm. I'm happy to see things are still chugging along, even in the summer slump.

I don't.

Okay, I was mostly being facetious.

But mainly, it probably needs to use less-pronounced colours, and maybe not all three primaries. But it's not bad, per se, in the fundamental design. My complaint is with the colour.

I see, I can agree to that, although the Sami flag does the same thing, as well:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A1mi_flag#/media/File:Sami_flag.svg

It's a part of their culture, they want to use those colors, I think, even if it gives a big contrast, between the colors.

Poor flag design is part of their culture?

Can I unilaterally dismiss the Senate again and proclaim myself Emperor?

United Massachusetts wrote:Poor flag design is part of their culture?

Yeah, but I have grown accustomed to it, as I have seen the Sami flag regularly through my life, especially on TV, but they have their own national holiday, as well, on February 6, where the flag can be flown in some of our municipalities:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A1mi_National_Day

They also have their own parliaments, with the Norwegian one being the most powerful among them:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A1mi_politics

And it can seem to be, that the Kven people are a bit envious now, because of how much the Sami has received from the Norwegian government, compared to them, so that might be their reason for making a flag of their own, as well, to strengthen their identity. They also designed their own costume in the 1990s, for the same purpose.

The Sami also have their own news broadcast, on the government-owned public broadcasters, in Norway, Sweden and Finalnd:

Hullo all! After 1 year staying in my burrow at the defunct CPE I thought I would move into a new hole over here.
