If you have been notified by this post you are not endorsing Malphe II. It is vital for regional security that all nations do so for the ongoing delegacy transition, see the instructions below.

How to Endorse Malphe II

  • Click on Malphe II and scroll to the bottom of the page

  • Click the button that says “Endorse Malphe II”

  • Profit. You have helped our region immensely!

When and why did you join NationStates?

I played this game, Politics and War, which is kind of like Nationstates but with actual resource management and warfare as part of the game. but I got so salty because I always kept getting bombed by planes so I quit and found Nationstates. I stayed alone for a long time in this self-region that I made, Grazistan, until I ceased to exist. Then I came back and that's how I got here and boy this is way more fun than just answering issues every day

Isn’t the WA bad though? It essentially just places more restrictions on your nation that you might not want.

Question of the Day (Special Edition):

How does your nation treat rats (or the equivalent)?

Tethys 13 wrote:My answer:
As an name equivalent we have the Tethysian Ratfish, common in many households and farms as they are helpful in keeping the place clean of mussels and even sea urchins. Said sea urchins are among the closest to what even the Tethysi would consider 'vermin', though active extermination measures would be unthinkable, so solutions such as the Wolf Eel or Tethysian Ratfish are preferred. However, the library areas also see occasional 'invasion' by creatures brought unknowingly on visitors' ships, and these can be more problematic. They are usually caught and moved to the forest decks, where the oxygen for the guest library sections is produced, until they can be returned to their home planet. Only very rarely do they turn into giant monsters and have to be fought.

The children of the Sky Reapers. Of course, Sky Reapers are avian, but their young act like rats, entering our homes through open windows and trying to eat our food. We normally close our windows all the time, so it's kinda funny for us to see them hitting themselves on the windows. But if you were talking about rodents, the planet only has some that are wild and stay on trees for most their lives, hiding in them so that the Sky Reapers don't get them
Also Fun Fact for people who did not know yet: The reason this is the question is because of Malphe II became Pharoah. Congratulations!

I just realised the flag has been changed to what it has been changed to. Lmao

As pests that bring disease. Though some people keep them as pets.

You can always change it! Can tweak it via settings at any time.

It does, but they're very minor and as a region we've categorically voted against all General Assembly proposals for long while.

You can always just have a puppet in the WA where you don’t answer issues or mess with stats at all, which is what I do.

Most of my nations don’t have any particular worldbuilding involving rats, but the national animal of my Pacific-themed account Skivaya is the kiore (Pacific rat). This animal is considered a taonga (treasure) by a number of Polynesian peoples; it was a food source at times when there was nothing else available, but they’d also introduce it into uninhabited islands they settled and see what plants and fruits it ate, knowing that anything it ate would also be edible by humans. Essentially, Polynesians managed to invent the murine model of human anatomy avant la lettre, which is now invaluable in medicine and science. For that reason, I decided that Skivish culture holds high regard for the kiore and that it is one of the few introduced creatures protected by the country’s environmental laws.

Kiore are incidentally about half the size of common rats (or sometimes even smaller) and pose much less danger to native species.

We generally don't go out of the way to deal with them until they run across the table as we're making a threatening point and we stab a knife through them to drive it home.
