What do you think’s the most interesting depiction of a mythical creature in popular media?

Honestly, I think Shin Godzilla is an interesting depiction of Godzilla
would want to think of other neat depictions of nonexistant creatures but i dont really have any at the moment ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hey, could I please get some feedback on my factbook?

Biala
A city that sustains itself by fishing anadromous species of fish that swim up the river to lay eggs before returning to the ocean. Strict laws are enforced to prevent overfishing, usually resulting in fines for those caught breaching them.

Bulmar
A relatively small city surrounded by thousands of acres of farmland. The region is geographically isolated from the rest of the country by rugged terrain to the south-west, and has a reputation of being so underdeveloped it is comparable to third-world countries. Despite a lack of proper infrastructure, the city has a vibrant and rich culture. One of the most popular festivities is an event where two farmers drive at each other in tractors with pitchforks, reminiscent of medieval jousting.

Butivka
Butivka's close proximity to a river fork and its temperate climate provide the ideal environment for vineyards. Rather like Darabolia, they are suspect to outbreaks of pest insects. Butivka also has unique wine cellars, they are constructed from stone bricks and are built partially or fully underground to maintain a stable temperature for fermentation of wines. Butivka is also the birthplace of The First Prophet Tomas Urik, the founder of Urikism.

Chitemir
Chitemir is the northernmost city in the country, and suffers from year-long frost and the occasional blizzard. The city was originally founded as a company town when explorers discovered oil not far from the coast 150 years ago. The town and its oil rigs were nationalized during the communist revolution, and it has since seen a gradual growth in population as demands for oil have increased leading to the state encouraging workers to move to the city.

Darabolia
The city is one of the few that are warm enough to host orchards of only the most cold-resistant fruits. They provide apples and peaches that are enjoyed by the rest of the country. Throughout history, Darabolia has suffered heavily from pest outbreaks when entire orchards would be devoured within days. A few breweries also exist in Darabolia that produce apple cider and peach wine, but this makes up a small amount of their exports.

Ghorghen
Ghorghen is an agricultural city much like Darabolia and Bulmar. They are the host of vast fields of potatoes, carrots and cabbages, as well as some minor orchards. Ghorghen siphons water from the river with huge networks of pipes and pumping stations to irrigate its crops, but this is monitored closely by the government to prevent disrupting the supply of water for Butivka.

Glodlia
The city of Glodlia is a river-based trading hub, shipping resources between Butivka, Ghorghen, Jelrova and Margola using industrial paddle steamers. The riverbed around the city has been coated in a thick layer of motor oil and other pollutants after decades of regularly running steam paddlers in the water. This has resulted in that localized part of the river taking on a dark, black hue. Drinking from the river has been forbidden after repeated cases of poisoning after people drink untreated water from it.

Hattarcsa
A city situated by the border with the politically unstable Marche Noir. Hattarcsa is the favoured location of smugglers and human traffickers who run their goods between Marche Noir and Slovi Ulandstan across the border. The city's high crime rates and short distance to a potential civil war has lead many to regard it as the most dangerous city in the country. An organized mafia also exists within Hattarcsa that controls a small part of the city's outskirts as their own fiefdom.

Jelrova
50 years ago, Jelrova was very close to the capital, Margola. The-then Chairman Maxim Stassov believed that Jelrova basically being across the river was a threat to Margola's regional influence, so he paid to build a new Jelrova further down the river and to forcefully relocate the citizens there before demolishing the old one. The older residents remember this and still hold contempt for being forced out of their homes for such a trivial reason.

Kurlikan
Kurlikan is a city in the middle of what's easily the most barren part of the country. The government has taken advantage of Kurlikan's sparse location by establishing a number of labour camps and military warehouses in and around the city. South of Kurlikan exists an exclusion zone that is used for the testing of nuclear armaments as well as the study of radiation on animal life.

Margola
The capital city of Slovi Ulandstan. Nestled between the twin rivers, Margola is surrounded by beautiful scenery. The city is also the home of the Slovik Government and the headquarters of the many government departments. After many legal battles, fishermen and paddle-steamer operators still can't agree on who gets priority usage of the water near Margola. It is unknown whether the Slovik government will ever intervene and provide a definitive answer.

Modtin
Surrounded by huge quarries, pits and craters in the vast nothing of the Slovi tundra, it is easy to imagine the city as instead being on the moon. Modtin is mostly inhabited by mine workers. Refining of extracted ores is also done at Modtin, meaning pollution and harmful exhaust can be found in the air at higher levels than normal, as well as dust carried over from the quarries by the wind. Those living in Modtin are required to wear face masks to try limit the amount of harmful substances inhaled. The average life expectancy in Modtin is 7 years lower than average, acknowledged by the Department of Health to be caused by lung-related illnesses.

Parvina
Parvina is notable for its large naval dockyards, ports and drydocks. Though primarily a home base for industrial-scale oceanic fish trawling operations, Parvina is also well-suited for the construction of large ships and has often been used by the Slovik navy for this purpose. The city is a centre of foreign trade as its large dockyards are sizable enough to accommodate international cargo freighting ships

Tacel
Tacel is home to the country's largest theatre, the Slovik National Performance Hall. Tacel also has an abundance of now-abandoned hotels that were originally built to accommodate the crowds that would flock to view the performances and films hosted at the theatre. Though squatting in the derelict hotels is forbidden, that hasn't dissuaded people from living in them anyway. Almost a fifth of the city is technically homeless despite living in a building. There is currently an ongoing petition for the local government to designate them as valid housing rather than letting them crumble without maintenance.

Vonec
Vonec has the smallest population of the major Slovik cities. Vonec is a city that is mostly based around fishing, though there are a few quarries scattered about to extract deposits of Cobalt. There are multiple decommissioned radar stations by the coast that were built during the Bigtopian crisis in 1986. There are also rumours of a nuclear missile silo that has been covered with dirt and forgotten, but nobody has found it (if it exists).

Pretty cool. I know this was intentional on your part but I think the gray is a bit too light. To me it would look good with the regular black text or with a slightly darker gray.

Dragonian Alliance and Rednecktown

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته. نرجو أن تتألق هذه المنطقة بشكل مشرق!

Luna State that John Lennon had autism

I finally became a Psychotic Dictatorship! How I wasn't there before is beyond me.

Luna State wrote:Question Of The Day!!

What do you think’s the most interesting depiction of a mythical creature in popular media?

Probably the werewolf in Harry Potter. Most previous depictions of werewolves (that I know of) had been either almost entirely a wolf or almost entirely a human, but that one was very much an abominable mix of the two, which did a pretty good job of showing how unnatural the transformation was in my opinion. But, I’m no expert, so that might not be the first instance of that depiction.

Luna State wrote:Question Of The Day!!

Turns out, I’m apparently quite well known at my school, despite me being antisocial as hell. Apparently it has something to do with me wearing a cowboy hat all the time.

On a side note, did you know that people who disagree with you are still human beings? I learned that surprising fact a while back, but I feel like most of the world hasn’t figured that out yet. It’s shocking, I know.

That there was an extensive slave-trading network in Southeast Asia in the 1750s (centered on the Sultanate of Sulu).

How Do I leave this continent, I want my country in no continent

Saffron state wrote:How Do I leave this continent, I want my country in no continent

Your country being in no region (I assume that's what you mean) isn't an option, so far as the mechanics of the game exist. The most feasible solution would be for you to relocate your country to a region that you create, and don't forget to lock the doors so that no other countries can join your newly-created region.
