For those living in inactive regions:
Looking for fun role play and regional politics? Move to Polation! Polation is an active region, filled with some of the greatest role playing nations in NationStates. Polation’s Parliament is filled with debates, and regional issues. Polation is led by an elected President, and YOU can run too! Feel free to claim a spot on the Map after joining, as this is very important to your Role Playing experience. It is important to understand the Constitution, so that if you are elected into a government position, you’ll know exactly what you can and cannot do!
On arrival, feel free to read Polation’s News History! Polation News Networking is a wonderful news network, and you can download https://nationstatesplusplus.net/install NationStates++ to be active in Polation’s News Paper Newtwork! Polation’s RP NEVER goes dry, due to the P.A.L.K. System, a Random RP Generator!!! It is always important to read the

Roleplaying Guide

First, lets discuss the layout you should have in your posts. Please do not bold everything in your post. And please do not upload a long post WITHOUT bolding anything. Lets give you an example!
This sentence is bad. Only because it is bolded and mashed together, and it is troubling to read for some people. This issue is very common, as when things are not bolded, it is mashed together as well.
This sentence is good. Only because certain sentences are bolded, not everything. That way it is easier to read, because the main points are bolded. This shouldn't be an issue, because it is very easy to do.
How do you bold posts? That's easy!
When bolding posts, you use [brackets] and insert a B in between the brackets.
There are several other things, such as underlining, italics and so on. These, you insert U and I, instead of B. Formatting tags:
    [nation][/nation] [region][/region]

  [strike][/strike] [img][/img] [floatleft][/floatleft] [floatright][/floatright] [background][/background] [background-block][/background-block] [box][/box]
Well, that's simple. Roleplaying is a game in which the players assume roles, usually the roles of characters and/or nations, in a fictional setting, while controlling them. Players act out those roles through narrative posts, taking part in and building the story, and interacting with the other players. Roleplaying is one of the most interesting things that can be done on NationStates, and is one of the best things about POLATION as a whole. Roleplaying is extremely fun and largely appreciated, mainly because the only limit to roleplaying is your imagination (unless you are brain dead, like Hillary of course). Do you want to lead the Union, fighting on a mission against Texan aliens who want to destroy the beautiful wall you just built? You've got it.
In this guide, I'll try to explain and introduce roleplay for the newcomers, and further explain it for the people who have already roleplayed in the past.
Roleplayers use a series of specific terms and abbreviations while talking about roleplaying stuff. Here is a short list to help explain them.Roleplayer/Player- The person at the keyboard, roleplaying the character or the nation.
Post- A single instance of roleplay, written by one player. Posts can be initial posts (sometimes called openers or starters, but not usually referred to as anything special), or they can be replies to other posts.
Reply- A single instance of roleplay, written by one player, in response to another player. All replies are posts, but not all posts are replies.
OOC. Out of Character. A roleplay usually has two types of posts, a OOC post is one of them. The OOC is reserved for what the roleplayer himself is saying, discussions, screaming at someone you hate, and stuff like that. But, here in POLATION, Slattsenw hates OOC.
IC. The other type of posts is the In Character thread. The IC is reserved for in character posts, the posts the roleplayer is doing is doing while playing the role of a character or a nation. The story and the real roleplaying go on here.
Starting to roleplay might seem difficult at the beginning, but it really isn't. Are you aren't confident in your writing abilities? No problem, at least try. Most roleplayers will even help you (Slattsenw definitely will, and I [Trumpt] will certainly help as well!) with advice and so on if you request it. Not all of us have been born English story writers, important is to have fun, as long as we respect the rules and a level of decency (if you disobey our rules, you will be kicked). So at least, no one liners. Try to always aim for a paragraph. Then of course, joining other people to roleplay and get into something so strange might be intimidating, but most roleplayers are really accepting (not The texan union). We all want to have fun, and there is no reason we would want to refuse someone who also wants to have fun. Try and be confident, and there is no way you can fail! Unless of course you use nuclear weapons, which are banned from role play, or... well... god mod.
Well, this is easy, just write something like this:
Bob enters the story, and sees James. James, who hates Bob, pulls out two octopus guns and fires ink. The ink splashes everywhere, and Bob pulls out a flamethrower.
Or:
Donald Trump marched joyfully through the hallway of Trump Tower. The walls were made of marble and pillars made of gold supported the roof. Several of his advisers stood across the wall, they had pointed tablets in his direction.
“Mr. Trump!” yelled one of them, “Time to sue Ted Cruz!” Trump placed his finger on the screen, scanning his fingerprint passing the legislation.
“Sire! Sire! Me Lord!” It was Kasich, “The execution of Hillary Clinton is a scan away!” Trump placed his fingerprint again, passing the act.
“Sir! Mr. Trump!” it was his top adviser, heavy weight Christie, “The wall is built! Mexico is done with the drop of one bomb!” Trump does the same as before, passing it.
Trump’s wife, Malania, appeared, “Hon, are we going out to eat with Bill Gates again tonight?”
Trump kissed his wife, “Of course darling! Let us bring Barron this time, to teach him how to eat with another really rich person like me.”
Trump continued to walk down the hall, humming ‘It’s a Trump World After All”. He entered his office, after opening the large golden door, he looked to the eagle sitting on his desk.
“We did it Juan,” he said, before he petted the eagle, “The United States of Trumptopian America is so great, China, let me tell you, is now borrowing money from us!” The eagle exchanged with vocal roars.
In the words of United nations of the far middle east, this is the part where "YOU BETTER SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!" Now, since Role Playing is based on NS Stats, it is pretty easy to know what god modding is. If you don't have to the stats to do it, you better run like the Texans into a corner, or something.
Examples include, but are not limited to:
Leoland has a gigantic dome that protects our nation from Nuclear Warheads.
The Trump army obliterates the army of Vaquas immediately because they wear toupees, and the Vaqs do not.
Cyrodiiill invades Sarenium, destroys their cities, and kills the crazy wacko lady who leads Sarenium. Cyrodiiill has won.
Russian tanks have made improvements, and are immediately manufactured by the masses, and now are being drove in the streets.
War is a big part of Polation RP, so it is VERY important to understand the next few sentences of this section okay? Polation's War Game has been adjusted, trashed, and reformed several times, trying to solve the issue of both god modding, and reality. So, here are a few tips before you go out slitting the throats of the Sarens and burning their flag for a national holiday:
Invasions, and annexations, are excessively limited. Without permission from Slattsenw, nations cannot invade, or annex, any territory on the globe. Nations should respect their neighbors, and their borders.
No Random Wars! From time to time again, it has been proven by several banned nations that "Random Wars" exist. These are wars in which a nation either has a little to no reason for going to war with another nation. These include, but are not limited to wars beginning because of: terrorism, rude leadership (such as a nation mimicking another), assassinations and even just because the nation looked like a good person to fight.
No god-mod posts! (duh!!!)
Please, no Rush Posts. A "Rush Post" is a post were a nation does a quick action, like arriving at another nation in a split second. Of course, they do not actually arrive in a split second, but Gamers may not want to wait so long for their, or another person's, leader to arrive. These type of posts are allowed in Polaton's RP, just NOT the War Game. Examples are, but are not limited to: The Saren 7th Armada is dispatched, and arrives at Trumptopia, the troops in Ivy hinterlands march into Cyrodiiill and attack the capital, Seventy drones fly out of the United States into XOT and fire missiles at heavily populated cities.
Now that you understand the boundaries, it is time to discuss how you wield your sword. That way, you don't cut your own head off as well! To begin any sort of war, you need to show preparation! Like I said, before, no random wars. You can do this by building up forces, spending lots of money on your military etc.
On the RMB (Regional Message Board) Slattsenw deal with updates. A "Update" is a statement taken from several actions through telegrams. How do updates work? Well, nations (you) inform Slatts of their (your) next move, and Slattsenw will add both actions of each side (there are ALWAYS two or more sides in wars) all in one post. Otherwise, nations themselves (like you) post only political stuff, like leaders thoughts, economic rates and even alliances.
Updates are created so the board itself is not flooded with thick molasous that include, but are not limited to: "Planes fly through the sky, and bomb the cities of Slattsenw, killing thousands by the minute." "Slattsenw counters this attack, and several attack jets are set to provide conflict with foreign enemies."
All military attacks, and war plans, MUST be run by me before they happen. There is no "i invade you" posts until I believe that:
The war is reasonable
The war makes sense
There is no god-modding involved
and
To ensure the war not just happening for sh_ts and giggles
Now, recognize that I do not care about:
What part of a nation you are attacking
and
Your entire military plans
I care about:
What nation you're attacking
Why
and
How exactly you will be doing it (navy, army, airforce etc)
Lastly (if necessary)
Who will be participating
I do not want full on military plans, this would be an example of how you should message me:
Trumpt: Hey Slatts, I want to invade Vaquas and take Florida back
Slattsenw: How will you be attacking?
Trumpt: with my army and air force
Slattsenw: It's your funeral. You have the go ahead
Trumpt: Thanks!
Now, some have said that "what if I'm attacking you?" and "isn't that a little bit of a conflict of interest?" Yes. Yes it is. But, I have two things to say:
Invading me would be a mistake, because I'll basically take your nation, break it's legs, and rip your eyes out to hang below the Slattsew flag.
It may be a conflict of interest, but, if everything seems A-OK, then, I will give you the go ahead. Just plan on getting your A_s kicked.
Another thing is, I make what are called "War Updates" where I make a brief post explaining who is winning the war, and, what exactly has been happening so far. So, I would suggest that you message me everything you do in the war AFTER you do it. That way I don't have to read all the post.
Wrap up:
Message me beforehand ONLY when it comes to declaring war
I decide if the war is "genuine"
I don't care about everything afterwards, just that you make sure to
Message me everything you do in the war (once I give you the go ahead) AFTER you post them.
Thanks for reading,
~Slatts, everyone's best friend because they never will invade him unless they absolutely want to die.
The more Units placed for a nation, on a specific stat, the stronger or wealthier a nation is in that stat. For example, if a nation has 14 Units for their Military (MTY) and they go to war with a nation with 9 Units for their Military (MTY) the first nation would win in a battle. However, if that second nation had a Military Strength (MS) of 14 units, and the first nation only has 5 Units of their Military Strength (MS) the second nation would have a far better chance of winning. Even better if their Scientific Advancement (SA) is bigger too.
A Equilibrium, or a fair battle between two nations, would be a nation with a Military Strength (MS) Unit of 15 and a Military (MTY) Unit of 10 versing a nation with a Military Strength (MS) Unit of 10 and a Military (MTY) Unit of 15. Although one has the larger military, the other has the stronger military. That way, in battle, the nation with the better Military Strength (MS) Units would fair better in battle against a nation with the larger Military (MTY) Units.
For right now, MTY Units are predicted as if the nation was currently in a war, and that was the total active troop count that could be drafted at one time. If this system works, MTY Units will be separated to Pre-War and Post-War statistics and even Army, Navy and Air-Force Categories.
LISTEN! The Unit System is NOT eddited by issues. So if you do something militarily, or something that may increase or decrease your's or another nation's stats, please telegram Slattsenw, who will inform Trumpt. Thank you.
MTY: Military Units are 1 Unit = 1 million | to | 50 Units = 50 Million
MS: Military Strength (MS) Units are used to determine the level of one's strength militarily, hence, cannot be placed as a legit number. They range from 20 being the strongest, 1 being the weakest.
SA: Scientific Advancement (SA) Units are used to determine the level of one's advancement, and like Military Strength (MS) Units, cannot be placed in a legit number. They range from 20 being most advanced, 1 being the least.
PLN: Population (PLN) Units are 1 Unit = 50 Million | to | 20 Units = 1 Billion
TR: Take Rate (TR) Units are 1 unit = 10% | to | 10 units = 100% (please note that tax rates have been edited)
HC: Healthcare (HC) Units are used to determine the level of one's National Healthcare (this may or may not include private healthcare), hence, cannot be placed as a legit number. They range from 20 being the strongest, 1 being the weakest.
EDU: Education (EDU) Units are used to determine the level of one's Higher Education System (Universities and Colleges as well as High School if you nation has that) (this may or may not include private education), hence, cannot be placed as a legit number. They range from 20 being the strongest, 1 being the weakest.
MS <- Determines Strength/Power
SA <- Determines Advancement
PLN <- Determines Citizen Count
TR <- Determines Tax Percent
HC: Determines Strength
EDU: Determines Advancement

EDUCATIONAL RANKINGS IN POLATION
The following is a ranking from the best, or biggest, colleges on the planet. These work with the Education (EDU) Unit in the above stats. Colleges/Universities are ranked by top 25. If your nation is not mentioned, it means your colleges are sh*ty and junk! Just kidding, it just means you didn't make it to top 25, you're schools can still be pretty good, they just might not be the best or most visited.

Since when are we a recruiting friendly region? :S
We aren't. Doesn't that mean they're breaking the rules?
never?
Hey T-L, long time no speak :)
It's ok! You don't need to explain yourself to us, we'll always understand. Just make sure you log in to your main nation every once in a while, we wouldn't want you to CTE! :)
Just bumping this...
Wait you dont have Festnetz Internet?
Long live the NEW world union!
*Files copyright infrignement complaint...
I do have Festznetz internet, It's back now. But it seems to have some problems. But I think I'll be here more often again.
These two weeks flied away. I hate morning shift...
I usually like it, sleep doesn't exist

Hello everyone, I was wonding if you kind people would be interested in joining the AOAN? We are in a recruiting stage and I am hoping you all will consider moving to the AOAN. We would be open to any new ideas you want to provide as we are in a rebuilding stage. Anyone and everyone is welcome.
Hope to see you soon,
New Joshinia
Goodness, that never happened to me before...
We aren't a recruiter friendly region... not yet anyway.
What do you mean tl?
Greetings from The Illuminati.
May our two regions continue to thrive.
Strength through dedication and unity.

hi
Hey Draak, what do you know about CK2 modding?
Wow awesome region :)
CK2? A little bit. I know how to do basic event chains and such. Not how to mod the map though :P
Kay. Well, I learned how to mod portraits, culture and religion. I wanted to ask you if you could help me with a problem I had with portraits, but as of now, I've solved it myself :p
TBH, never tried to do a graphical mod ;)
A pleasant day to our neighbors,
I am the soon to be new Minister of Foreign Affairs from the New World Union and we are very grateful for the relationship that has been established between our regions, no matter how many years have been. We are looking forward to the improvement of our friendship and cooperation!
