President-elect Joseph Robinette vows to cement transgender rights, strengthen gay rights.
Joseph Robinette has vowed to cement transgender rights while strengthening gay rights. Same-sex couples are free to marry, adopt, and are legally protected from discrimination in the USJ, but hate crimes remain common in rural and conservative areas, Robinette is planning on signing a bill outlawing hate speech and hate crimes against LGBT people. Transgender rights, however, are not as advanced, as Fairbanks, Montana, Wyoming, Deseret, and Boise determine gender as biological sex. Robinette intends to pressure state governments to rectify that rule by passing bills (currently being debated in all the aforementioned states) allowing transgender individuals to alter their birth certificates and other legal documents according to their identities.
the USJ unveils it's new flag, the People's Flag
The United States of Jefferson has unveiled it's new flag coinciding with the election of Joseph Robinette. Proposition 7 was passed 51% to 49% to redesign the flag of the USJ. This new flag is called the People's Flag.
