Ooh, a new potential “strategic competitor”. (Dusting off the submarines and plans for ‘the device’.)

Reintroduced Socialism in my country and just got over 15 Quadrillion (I think) in GDP. It's weird that going Socialist helps my economy but loosing up regulations hurts me.

Hello!

What do you think this year's April fools will be?

Boring.

I feel that

Nedea! I just came across a perfect name for your capital if you ever feel like changing it — Taxhaven.

I love it! I think I'll keep DarkHaven just because of the history with it but I'll certainly make it a city. Thanks!

Dang Athretvari, just shy of the top 10

7th. Was 6th. Need to breakout my test-tubes and get to experimenting some more.

I'm just thinking for some reason about how roughly the internet in public use has been around 25 years. I can still remember using Dialup for AOL. I couldn't imagine sites like YouTube being around. I'm curious on how YouTube would work on Dialup. The technology for streaming (Netflix,YouTube) has been around for about 10 years. Rambling aside do you guys think we are reaching as far as we can tech and software wise in home computing? All I could see is faster computing and processing.
On another note would home consoles ever match PC gaming?( I've only played on consoles)

It is kinda insane to think of far the internet has evolved in such a short time. I think things will be very segmented in the future. Lots more computing power and faster connections, as well as lots of “internet-of-things” (driverless cars, smart appliances, workerless factories, etc. all AI controlled and all needing a very strong internet infrastructure). But, I think we may also see two major types of internet/computer and telecom technologies develop because of how vital that infrastructure will become — Chinese developed tech and tech developed in the US/EU. I can totally see a day when Chinese tech is totally useless in the “West” and vice-versa.

Consoles and desktops will merge, and you’ll simply buy the necessary accessory devices, desktop monitor, large digital display, direct sensory-input devices, sexbots, etc.

While I driverless cars are a good thing I think that infrastructure on the roads needs to be updated to help the cars. Basically have another form of GPS on the roads so that it'll be easier for cars to recalculate speeds and where the quickest way is. Right now at best I think that we are in the "beta" stage for driverless cars. Where limited driverless cars are around. I think driver assistance apps need to be further developed in greater detail. I also think Tesla would be better off as a hardware company for other car companies. They proved to everyone that the concept works but I think that they could develope electric cars faster by working with other car companies.

So today was another kick in the balls. As some of you know my father has cancer. Today he had a chest x-ray and they found a growth. They don't know if it's a tumor or a cyst. They need him to get a CT scan.

Oh man, that’s terrible news. I was hoping he was doing much better. You guys are always in my prayers, and I’m not even a religious man. (Truthfully, I’m agnostic, but do “pray” each night that the motions of this Universe are kind and gentle to you guys and your loved ones. I guess I worry there is a one in Infinity chance there is in fact a God and well, why not express my hopes in a quiet prayer, just in case.) The best thing for you and him is to simply be by his side and offer him the support he needs to keep fighting. And you should know that we’re here if you need to chat or just express what you’re going through and how you’re feeling.

Dear Friends

[OOC: I have been thinking about this for a few weeks, and part of me was hesitant of posting it after Midgari’s news, but then thought perhaps it may be even more relevant given the circumstances. I don’t know. Please excuse me, especially you 46566, if you believe it inappropriate. It is just an idea I’ve been thinking might help us touch-base and keep up-to-date with each other since the CTEs of Saratoga and Moar.]

While initially created to serve as a private hobby, the development of Athretvari has been, to my great surprise and pleasure, a more exciting and entertaining exercise of socializing, creative collaboration, and community building. So much of what I and others envision Athretvari as being (a lot of which you’ve seen in “Athretvarian art”) is in fact the direct result of my interactions with the members of the New Coalition of Nations over the years. I wish I had this perspective and understanding in the past. I still carry a heavy heart over the harm I committed to our community, the hurt and insult I inflicted on those I called friends, and the fracture that still exists between the Coalition’s members former and present as a result of my pride and rashness. It is a period of my history of which I am truly ashamed and for which I am truly sorry. I still hold hope of eventually correcting those many wrongs somehow, some way. But what pains me more is seeing the CTE of so many great nations due to lack of interaction and prolonged inactivity. This is not just the loss of some awesome RP partners, but the loss of community and sometimes links to cool friendships. We must recommit energies to our Coalition.
========================================================

For some time now I have been thinking of a new type of mixed IC/OOC project that I hope some of you may find interesting and may also help reinvigorate our dear little community, build new bounds between us, and reinforce those bounds some of us already share. It involves expanding the historic lures of our FT Enkonian nations to RL modern times.

Basically, I wish to declare Athretvari as a real-life sovereign “nanostate” existing in the present day and in the real-world, as a precursor to the great and mighty High-Technate to come in the age of Enkon Delta. And, I would like very much for the RL nanostate of Athretvari to have interactions with other RL nano- and artnations, and I can think of none better than those amazing artnations I’ve already interacted with, namely you.

The idea is to declare ourselves an NS community of RL nanostates. The current FT Enkon Delta episode would/could continue as a creative project of the community.

There are two primary goals of the RL nanonation idea —

  • To provide a mixed IC/OOC mechanism for us to discuss and comment on current “international news” (news involving macronationals and/or other micro-, art-, and nanonations), and “host” national and local news and events, particularly those that directly or indirectly affect our RL nanostates and their citizens,

  • And, to establish real diplomatic relations, send real diplomatic correspondence, develop and broadcast real (IC-based on OOC) “domestic news” and information (while necessarily taking into consideration RL “nanonational security,” aka privacy concerns), produce real goods and services, create real means of trade and exchange, and form real lasting bonds of friendship between us.

Sample: The RL nanostate of Athretvari is a special type of micronation that currently consists of just four resident-citizens, its creator, the High Spouse (who also serves as “defacto chief minister”), and two terrifying Meow Beasts.* It is “hosted” by, and functions within the legal parameters of the United States of America. (Meaning that unlike several other micronational movements, the RL nanostate of Athretvari does not currently seek nor claim to be outside the legal jurisdiction of the United States, but rather seeks to function as much as possible as a “sovereign entity” within US laws and in good faith thereto.) It was founded in the Boro of Freehold, in the State of New Jersey as an “art-nation” to provide its creator a personal artistic, conlanguistic, and meta-philosophical outlet, as well as a mechanism to opine on particular geopolitical events and issues. It has since (recently, this past February) moved its “residence-capital” to the great city of Philadelphia in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The government is currently in the process of divesting of its former residence-capital in Freehold, reverting it back to American sovereignty. It almost exclusively exports “educational publishing development services,” though it does at times also produce and export a small quantity of indigenous arts and crafts, an industry Athretvari’s creator hopes to develop further in the near future. Other revenues are also occasionally generated via the import and (re)export of vintage and rare video games, game consoles and accessories, and associated merchandise. In certain years, it produces small quantities of vegetables and other agricultural produce, mostly for domestic consumption. It imports all other necessary goods and services. Major trading partners include the United States, Japan, Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China. Being a respectful nanonation completely surrounded by its host macronation, and desiring to maintain good relations with the same, Athretvari unilateral declares a state of peace & tranquility between it and the United States, and unilaterally commits itself and its citizens to act to maintain that peace & tranquility and in the best interests of both Athretvari and the United States. As a de facto result and necessity of its geopolitical situation, all trade and other foreign relations with other macronations are conducted by the United States acting on Athretvari’s behalf, although Athretvari reserves the right to engage in relations with other art-, micro-, and nanonations as it sees fit. Athretvari’s resident-citizens maintain duel citizenship with the United States, retaining all their legal rights and responsibilities therein, and utilize those rights to vote in US federal and local elections and to petition its host-government officials and those of its relevant political and administrative subdivisions to advocate on behalf of Athretvari and influence their policy decisions to the benefit of its resident-citizens.

* - Resident-citizenship is afforded to Meow Beasts because they’re such high maintenance creatures and demand, or rather command, as much if not more attention as is afforded to Athretvari’s human citizens.

In the international arena, Athretvari’s creator, who also serves as its minister of micronational and nanonational affairs, is seeking to promote Athretvari’s nano-nationhood, promote the declaration and development of other nanonations, promote a nanonational community (hopefully centered on the NCON), and develop and strengthen bilateral relations with other micro-, art-, and nanonations.

In the domestic arena, Athretvari’s creator and the High Spouse are continuing their work toward the successful divestment of the former residence-capital, which they are happy to report is now scheduled to be completed on or abouts mid-May of this year after the acceptance of a satisfactory offer from American investors. Athretvari’s creator said of the divestment, “We are pleased with the deal as it will help replenish the capital resources of the Three Treasuries,” referring to the treasury of the creator, the treasury of the High Spouse, and the common or “house treasury.”

I’m proposing a weird mixed IC/OOC idea to reinvigorate NCON and stay in-touch/up-to-date with each other by declaring ourselves a community of RL nanonations in the present times. Prime purposes: to comment on current geopolitics and develop ‘real’ relations between us.

A nanonantion is a ridiculously tiny, real-life country claiming very little to no real territory (usually no more than a house and its property), and having one or few more citizens (ie, the residents of that territory). Basically, we translate real-world events into events affecting our nanonations and their citizens, and develop relations between our nanonations.

(Nano)one game?

I wouldn't mind seeing a more modern rp but I've always been leery of straddling the IC/OOC. If we want to use RL Nations maybe we should just use RL Nations. Simple rules like no nukes and no preexisting treaties. Everything else is changeable. For instance if I want to RP as the Grand Duchy of Moscow instead of Russia I can.

Yeah, plus having a Conventional war in the current rp would basically be suicide with all of the different types of WMDs.

Texasiva wrote:Yeah, plus having a Conventional war in the current rp would basically be suicide with all of the different types of WMDs.

Well WMD are not really used at all. Very few nukes have been used overall unless it was to restart the RP. RP wise it would be a smaller country who would use a WMD of some sort. Through the RP there is usually at least a two sided or sometime a three sided conflict. Without Moarfall and Saratoga Nedea probably back any free market nation. Ath would back any Socialist nation. I would back any who gives me a advantage. Smaller Nations can't take on the big three but can manipulate them to gain.

It was neither it's a hernia apparently. So it's some good news for a change.

I can see something working if we keep ourselves very small relative to the rest of the real world. For example, no one could RP as China because we can't control what real China does and so its actions would constantly be restricting or resetting whatever the player wants to RP. But if we RPed as new, small countries (kinda like city-states ala Vatican City, Singapore, San Marino, Hong Kong, or Monaco) then we could RP interacting with each other and with present day countries in the context of what they are actually doing. Like a tiny, newly declared Athretvari Citystate taking a diplomatic stand and recognizing Taiwan over China. (Economic suicide? Maybe.)

I can see RPing as an existing city as a potential powder-keg of RP excitement as the rest of Russia might not be so cool with the idea of an independent Moscow.

But maybe you can RP the government of Russia going sooo bankrupt and broke that they actually sell all of St Petersburg, or hell, even all of Moscow area to the 46566 Corporation. (Sold at basement prices. What a deal!)

I think Athretvari would likely follow that type of history, except bought by a group of 'mad scientists'. (Mwa-ha-hahaha! Mwa-ha-hahahahha!)

Or have it that certain Nations be NPC. Like the UN security count Nations(US, France, UK, China, Russia) I did a RP where I was Andorra playing France and Spain against each other. The purpose would be to play as the non power Nations typically played. Though almost immediately Europe is going to crash economically do to there being no EU at all. The same thing for the African Union.

Gerd damn, black market keeps increasing. that's a lot of money that could be taxed and used for the military. Don't wanna end up with 15%+ like 46566, only thing is it doesn't seem to bother his economy, he has like 0 income tax yet has nearly 1 Quadrillion, basically a Sleeping giant if he used turned his economy into a war economy.

I'm at 15 Quadrillion right now with my black market as bad as it is. The black market is probably to skirt the regulations I have placed(proper wage, safety, having bulk of the product made in 46566) My black market is nearly 3 Quadrillion ducats. I RP that some of the money is slush money my government uses as bribe money or to run off the books things.

Considering the only """Banned""" import in Nedea is Alcohol, I find my 1% black market very entertaining.
