What were you interviewing for

Cekan wrote:What were you interviewing for

A STASI position

Cekan wrote:What were you interviewing for

Masters in management for ESCP Europe

I've also decided that I'll finally go to a gay bar today. It's my 1st time ever doing this, but it's interesting since it's been something I've wanted to do for so long

A.k.a. he won't solve any pressing problems. Maintaining the status quo just keeps kicking the can down the road, and our generation is already paying for it.

Personally, gun control is a major policy issue. And I don't know how willing I'd be to give that up to a democratic canidate who otherwise has good policies but wants to further curtail access to firearms.

I personally never understood the American obsession with firearms

Semi-automatic weapons should absolutely be banned. People should be required to go through a training program and there should be at least a month long wait period before being able to buy a gun (to prevent suicides). Anyone with violent criminal history or mental health problems (including depression) should not be allowed to buy weapons. Laws regulating how firearms are stored should also be implemented.

We're a special breed.

I agree with perhaps the lower half of that. Not the first, though

The only to reduce the quantity of firearms in the long term is to reduce the demand and therefore their production in the first place.

You're a weird breed. You have tens of thousands of people dying and yet there are people opposing stronger regulations.

The second amendment was written when muskets could only shoot 3 times a minute.

Othelos wrote:The second amendment was written when muskets could only shoot 3 times a minute.

Wasn't the second amendment written like, in the first few decades after the US independence? I could imagine that those were times which required people to be armed like that.

And if it's an amendment, doesn't this mean that the amendment itself could theoretically be amended?

Won't happen. That would require republican states to ratify it.

Othelos wrote:The second amendment was written when muskets could only shoot 3 times a minute.

Repeal 2nd amendment, replace with legislation that actually makes sense. Owning a weapon is not a basic human right IMO and the 2nd does not fit with the rest of the bill of rights.

I also frankly doesn't understand the opposition to stronger regulations. Well planned regulations that could actually deal with the issue seem to be a necessity.

I could understand the idea of people opposing a full firearm ban or things like that

Theoretically yes it can be repealed/amended

Othelos wrote:Won't happen. That would require republican states to ratify it.

But theoretically it could.

My point of view is that while constitutions are important, if modifications are required, and if those modifications don't work against the principles of democracy, then the constitution should be modified. Just because something is a law it doesn't mean that it's good.

I understand why some people feel the need for protection, but people who are pro-firearms need to deal with the associated societal costs just like pro-lifers should. Instead, they mostly ignore them.

Exactly.
