We are a peaceful people looking for somewhere to cultivate tranquility.

We are a freeform region. For the most part, you can do whatever you want. All Roleplays are entered voluntarily and many of them have nothing to do with war. We do have a regional map on our forums. You can apply for a spot on said map any time you want.

You are in good company here. We are a friendly democratic region that encourages role play and nurtures creativity as you develop your nation. Be sure to join our discord for active conversation, asking questions, and memes and stuff.

Couldn't have said it better myself. (No, actually, I tried and failed)

Yes, indeed. The only threat here is Trive, and if you need to defend yourself from their love of cyberattacks, Xiomera can provide technological assistance in exchange for money.

“Hrarroom!” (= “Greetings”), and a hearty "Welcome to the IDU", for Ponoxien.

I have changed the "Welcome" TG, as you can see through the 'Regional Happenings' list, and will post a copy of the new version in our forum in case anybody needs it later on. (EDIT: Done. It's in the 'Office of the Delegate' section, for now.)

I have started (and stickied) those 'Ecosystem' discussion threads, and would welcome feedback there...

EDIT
I have also started a forum thread about 'The Free Land of The IDU', because as it is nobody’s “own” nation it tends to be neglected, and hope that people will post ideas in there (https://theidu.us/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&p=20949#p20949) as well.

(Also, deleted some pieces of adspam that U.N.E. had reported & banned the spammer.)

I have a question, from what I see, all RP takes on the forums, right?

Braveco

So glad you asked! For the most part, the posting of RP material takes place on the IDU Is Regional Forum, however there is substantial international coordination, discussion, and (for extroverts like me) thinking out loud that takes place on our Discord server. For intricate RPs, such as The IDU Olympics, N-Day, and Hunt for Auroras, separate invitation-only Discord servers are established. Perhaps half of the work that goes into an RP is first hammered out or collaboratively conceived in Discord. (Note: this is posted on behalf of Gardavasque, my main nation. Braveco is merely a puppet who I happened to be signed in as today).

Alright thanks for the info!

There is a new map-related poll up! Please help select the names of the northwest and southwest continents. These names were nominated from the spreadsheet linked by the SOAP thread on the IDU Regional Forum. Just to clarify... Voting is open to "residents" meaning one nation, one vote. Players with multiple puppets in the region may therefore vote multiple times.

As a point of reference:
Neris means "of the Sea"
Eurus is the personification of the East Wind in mythology
Liberalis means "freedom, honorable, or generous"
Prasinus means "Green like the color of a leek"
Favonius is the personification of the West Wind from mythology
Notus is the personification of the South Wind from mythology

“Hrarroom!” (= “Greetings”), and a hearty "Welcome to the IDU", for Quirindi.
(OOC: Your nation’s name looks to me as though it should belong to a group of Tolkien-style Elves… Was that your intention?)

Good to have you back, old friend! Yes, "many several weeks" definitely has changed the landscape of NationStates, hasn't it?

Comrades, I'll enter yet another period of inactivity due to personal reasons.

Trive 38 wrote:Comrades, I'll enter yet another period of inactivity due to personal reasons.

Until we meet again, comrade...

I, too, have an announcement to make. I should have done this months ago, frankly. Here is the truth of the matter, my life has gotten really hectic lately. More hectic than I think it has ever been. Going foreword, I am simply not going to be able to put as much time into NationStates as I have been. My schedule simply doesn’t allow. There aren’t enough hours in the day.

What does this mean for you all? Well, not too much. I will certainly still be available if an emergency comes up. I am not resigning from my position as IDUSA speaker and will still be checking the forums as frequently as I can (which should be daily, just not for anywhere near as long as I usually do).

Unfortunately, the main thing that will be effected by this change will be my RPing. I do not expect to be able to put out long RP posts or regularly check in with every RP I am in. I’ll work out the specific level of my involvement on a case by case basis.

Hopefully this is just temporary and I should be able to return to my normal level of activity eventually (June, tentatively).

Lastly, I can totally understand if Lauchenoiria wants to select another Co-culture minister. I’m not resigning from the position but would totally understand if she wanted to replace me with someone more active.

Thanks for your understanding,

Libertas Omnium Maximus
Co-Culture Minister
Speaker of the IDUSA

Can we get some salmon?

As the voting for the names of the remaining two continents close, I would like to thank everyone who participated! Thanks for completing the major naming for our regional map! And thank you to Associate Cartographer Gardavasque for creating the poll. Massive success!

Suggested by Laeral: we will be changing the ending letters of the winning continents (Liberalis and Neris) to the letter '-a', to allow for a better fitting convention for these areas, similar sounding endings to Catica and Hespia. These continents will be named Liberalia and Neria.

Once again, thanks for voting, everyone! We're looking forward to further developing the map! Send your applications for map placement to the forum or to me through telegram!

Now that this poll is concluded, who has a question or idea for poll you'd like to see posed to the IDU community? It doesn't have to be map-related, or roleplay-specific (though that's ok too). Send me a TG or message me on Discord.

Okay.
Is that instead of the sweet stuff, instead of the nuts, instead of both... or through a separate trade deal?

I'd take it over the maple syrup.

Why are some members of this region voting to commend a nation whose "praised" activities have largely consisted of promoting raiding ?!

Hello all! I'm a puppet of Byzconia.

Bears Armed Mission wrote:Why are some members of this region voting to commend a nation whose "praised" activities have largely consisted of promoting raiding ?!

That's a good question. Unfortunately, I've been preoccupied with an excess of work lately to the point that I've had trouble participating actively in the IDU's conversations, but could someone quickly explain (or point me to a link) why we're (by "we", I mean "the region, through our WA delegate) supporting the commendation of a historically prolific raider?
