United New England wrote:You know I love you, son, but not everyone shares your priorites. The result of your nation’s tax cuts is that “Trivians enjoy some of the most opulent lifestyles in the region, unless they are unemployed or working-class, in which case they are variously starving to death or crippled by easily preventable diseases... there is an enormous disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 1,792,542 per year while the poor average 32,770, a ratio of 54.7 to 1.” I’m not sure if such a scenario would bother The janglanas islands or not. I know TJI probably wouldn’t want a situation like how “Trive 38's national animal is the rat, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.”

Well, the Bears also were considered to be governed by biker gangs for a long time. The accuracy of the World Census' nation overviews are debatable.
Also, I can't really find a way to privatise my forests... which would be the RL solution to this issue.
We also have the highest Average (Disposable too) Income, which means the large majority of my population lives well.
Also going on number 29th of the region for HDI level, and rising!
Overall we're doing quite fine - it's just a few issues we have to solve to reattain our greatest level.

EDIT1: Checked TJI's overview, apparently my poorest income is at par with their average income.
I bet they'll love that overall raise on incomes with my proposal.

I wish we had a way to measure the cost of living in NS' standard monetary units.
We don't really have an inflation rate, so we just assume that weak economies with high incomes are like Venezuela, and that strong economies with high incomes are like Switzerland.

Shuell here, just making sure the account works fine - which it does.

I knew that’s what Republicans were really saying behind closed doors ;)

I agree. This game is great at teaching that lesson. I can see why schools use it!

Maybe that’s true in regard to personal canon, but The janglanas islands was looking for ways to improve the official stats and descriptions.

I just wanted TJI to be aware of potential drawbacks. As a side note, my average poor income is 78,934.65, which is about twice as much as their average income.

Well right they are, and they should be jolly well proud of it.

They have been, for years now.

Libertas Omnium Maximus wrote:What? did someone at the WA fail basic math?

What do you mean?

United New England wrote:What do you mean?

Hold up! Oh, sorry, I misread your post as the average income of poor is 2x as much as the average income. You were comparing nations. Ohh.

True. Inflation or a Consumer Price Index would be interesting/helpful stats.

Good luck on hosting the 1st IDU Olympiad. Which makes me think, did the other sporting competition finish?

Not yet. The IDUFC is still awaiting its finals.

As I'm still new here - what exactly is The IDU Olympiad?

*Busts into the room via ziplining through window*

The IDU Olympiad is perhaps the greatest sporting event this region has ever-will ever- see! It is still in the late planing phase but it will be very similar to the RL Olympics. You simply RP your characters as they partake in the Olympics. I pray it is great fun and would envite you to join us when we get it up and running.

Actually laughed out loud.

UPDATE
I got a cease and desist from the Supreme Federal Court.
RIP

Gonhog

Old Ceorana has just resumed official use of the historical Ceoranan flag: It had had to adopt a different one when it became a protectorate of Bears Armed because at that point there was still a separate nation of 'Ceorana' -- formed by refugees from a disaster that had devastated the original country -- that had a better legal claim to the old design.

(OOC: I found this flag recently in some files that I'd copied from NSwiki long ago...)

Wait, what? No!

How will this effect NationStates? Do we loose you? I pray not.

The janglanas islands

Da f? Why would the Supreme Court (without knowing what this is in NS) do that?

The janglanas islands wrote:Da f? Why would the Supreme Court (without knowing what this is in NS) do that?

No, I believe he is talking about the RL Supreme Court. There is no NS Supreme Court.

I got a cease and desist letter once. It was from the company that sold... a product that rhymes with Blandygrams. Long story.
