What are your thoughts on the Olympics.

In the UK we only see a fairly high level view of what's happening (and even then you don't really know how balanced of a report it is!).

Olympics: Brazil will not profit from the Olympics because of the high corruption.
Unfinished infrastructure projects
We can barely fight crime in our major cities
Olympics will be a chaos.

That's the type of thing which gets alluded to on the news that we see - sounds like they need someone like you in Government!

Fail.

We've revived our feeble attempt at playing with the big boys and girls in the General Assembly; still trying to reduce roaming costs, now framed as a "social justice" issue. It's about as silly as it sounds (to reflect this I named it in honour of E.T.), but any comments our club of experienced legislators might have would be appreciated.

I suspect that the recent introduction of a different issue about the cheese industry might have made 'Stakes before Cheese?' seem superfluous, despite the differences in emphasis, but in my opinion 'Monday Morning Blues' was both novel and fun...

It took eight months for my last issue to go through, however, so I wouldn't get too impatient.

Sorry for not replying sooner. Schutte is correct, we don't give out that kind of information; being mysterious is pretty much part of the job description. Sorry, again.

But still, a lot to rejoice about when it comes to IDU and the issues. With Nova's pun fest about toilets in the game, and more recently Losthaven's issue about use of out-of-court statements being accepted, we can now boast a grand four active-alive-and-kicking Issue Authors (Nova, Losthaven, BA, yours truly) in our region. If we include the recently CTE'd, our dear friend Sanc would make it a total of five. With myself (and Sanc, although, again, CTE as of now) being IE's, I think it's fair to say that the IDU is starting to make a name for itself in the "issues" part of the game. Maybe not as prominent as in the GA, but it's a start, and I for one embrace the idea of diversifying ourselves.

(One could even go further, because we have other current and former members who are also prominent issues authors, but they submit their drafts with nations in other regions - Schutte and DSR in his time are examples. But it wouldn't be fair to include that here, I feel.)

I have the feeling that issue writing and development is something that I'd be pretty good at, though I've only been here for a few short weeks. I must also confess that I am perpetually perplexed at some of the seemingly random categories affected (and, in particular, the degree to which they're affected) through resolution of the issues in a certain way. I'm not sure whether we are supposed to make recommendations in that regard together with the submission. Anyhow, if someone (or several someones) wants to be a sounding board, I'll make the effort at a first one, just to see whether I actually have the knack I think I have. I don't know if the draft is something I should post on this board in any detail, or whether there's a better way to get feedback once I come up with something. Any guidance and/or encouragement would be appreciated.

You should definitely give it a go, it's all good fun. The page Nove linked is as good a place to start as any, but make sure you visit the issues part of the official forums and post your draft there. The regulars will provide you with useful comments and suggestions. Here's a link: viewforum.php?f=13&sid=28a11da600f64e2f7b288d8acea86b60

Mini update with a larger update to follow:

1. I've temporarily added the LGBT regional tag to signify our support for the community following the tragic Orlando shooting.
2. I've pinned the new regional charter to the dispatch.
3. Bears brought this up previously but is anyone interested in an IDU Film Festival, which would function similarly to the recent and successful Cheese Festival?

Well done on points one and two.

Re point three Gnejs and I were planning to roll something like this out as co-ministers of culture - if there is an interest we'd happily do what was needed.
