Screens and holograms across the Pantorra System (and even in some far beyond places that stumbled across the signal) suddenly flash. As the flash quickly fades, the spinning PCA emblem comes into view.
Within a few seconds, a female AI voice speaks loudly, drawing the attention of anyone within range.
PCA Central A.I.: “Attention citizens, this is an emergency broadcast from the Pantorra Corporate Authority. Attention citizens, this is an emergency broadcast from the Pantorra Corporate Authority.”
As the A.I. Completes its second repetition, the spinning PCA emblem vanishes from view and Pantorra Security Corps Director Harold Dean appears with a somber and concerned face. His hazel eyes looked unusually strained and tired.
Director Dean: “Good evening. I do not come bearing good news today. At exactly 9:00 am standard time this morning, the NOVA Station came under attack by covert forces from within. A band of military operatives broke ranks with the Pantorra Security Corps and have been able to seize control of the NOVA Station. Chairman Wyles and the entire board have met and worked tirelessly alongside the diplomatic corps and Security Corps military command staff to try and regain control of the station.
“Unfortunately, the stations defenses are well positioned and the militant insurrection that ended our control of the station is well armed and well manned. These are soldiers that were trained here by the PSC, and their training has fully prepared them to hold the station for a long period of time.
“Naturally, this cannot be allowed to happen. The NOVA Station is an incredibly powerful weapon in the wrong hands, and the PSC makes this public commitment today: we will do everything in our power to neutralize this threat. For the time being, we are issuing a mandatory lockdown for gas giant Protea and it’s moon systems. All commerce to and from is suspended and Peacekeeers have been deployed to ensure compliance. As of right now, no evacuation orders are being issued. Remain sheltered in place until further notice.
“The best course of action is not to panic. All military assets are in route, for the time being the station is contained in Sector 37, and the we will recapture this weapon before they are able to launch a tungsten strike. As a precaution, interception vehicles are being moved into place in the event of a strike launch. To be clear, we do not know the militants intention or that they intend to launch a strike.
“We will keep you updated and informed on any critical information, and at this time it is important that you cooperate fully with uniformed authorities. Thank you.”
With that, the screen flashed blue and the logo reappeared for a few brief seconds. Then, screens went black and holograms returned to their previous display.
