For QOTD, I'd probably try to learn any language that's very dissimilar to English but very similar to multiple other languages. Something that falls in a group of languages I have no experience with. That way, once I had learned that language, learning the other related languages would be easier.

Also, a language that's spoken by many people, something like Mandarin or Arabic. For maximum utility.

Yep. Messed up formatting.
Probably shouldn't post immediately after I wake up.

Renaria- wrote:Question of the Day: If you could learn any language(s) from a foreign nation, what language(s) would you learn and why?

English, which is the language of many foreign nations. Most people know about 20,000 words, and I suspect back between medicine and geekery my vocabulary is around twice that, but I'd like to get all million plus words in all forms of English into my head.

Same as with Momo on this. But if I had to indeed work for it... English, but I know that already. So perhaps German solely because there is a lot of information that's related to my studies but is found a lot in German.

Question of the Day: Would you rather live in a world where it was always dark, or always light?

I would choose to live in a world of darkness, because it is necessary that I execute my enemies in the dark.

(QOTD)

The Sun is overrated. Plus, nightlife is bae.

unfortunately i would prefer always light cause nothing would be able to survive always dark

Plus, it's easier to make dark in light than light in dark. Even the best lit buildings at nighttime don't have beautiful natural sunlight, whereas any room without windows and lights in daytime is going to be dark.

Undergrowth

Hey everyone. I'm returning to NationStates after a few years. Kinda lost again. Can I only do like 1 issue every day?

Rangers of the Grey, Battle Angel Alita, and Kabenitohamajihaka

Welcome back! The cooldown between issues is six hours.

So four issues a day by default. Undergrowth would always have at least two a day if he does the default cooldown. Now I feel like somebody is going to quote this and say something is wrong.

Yeah. I have a problem w/ how slow the Issues are too. Realworld issues happen much faster.

Hypercapital wrote:Yeah. I have a problem w/ how slow the Issues are too. Realworld issues happen much faster.

I disagree. Issues like that would take a long time to solve, especially if it involves changing laws.

Well if we're technical about it issues come by rapidly for any government. But the solutions indeed sometimes take a really long time.

I feel like since some issues that come up are major (like banning all cars or guns) it's okay if those take some time, like every 6 hours or even a bit longer to come up. But I'd like it if some of the minor issues that don't have as much of an effect would come a bit quicker, like every couple hours.

Sure real life issues take longer than hours to change, but it's like time is scaled down for nationstates, so if a law that would take months to pass irl and 6 hours to be presented in game, realistically there would be new issues every couple minutes or seconds.

Since this conversation is happening I will say my opinion. I wish the default cooldown would stay the same but you can choose a more often time like 3 hours.

Synnes hanyia

Keep in mind the game only has so many issues. More now than before but thatís part of where the time came from. They make it 6 hours so you come back every so often and donít just play the game once and leave

Thatís why mobile games have energy/resource requirements, so you have to come back to the game and they get more ad revenue than just seeing it once

Battle Angel Alita, Kabenitohamajihaka, and Hypercapital

true but you can't nolife the game all day, like other games (e.g you could play TF2 all day)

Yeah the chat has not gone yet. The chat just feels like a laggy game chat but much bigger.

Why donít they make a chat for just all of us clan members! That makes sense, instead of just some lame dossier board for everyone to see.

I live again. Mostly. Kind of.

Question of the Day: If you had to pick one, would you rather live in a treehouse, or in a bunker? Where, and why?

Eh. I wanna say treehouse, but both have clear downsides. One is a greater fire risk, the other is a greater flood risk.................. Still, probably treehouse, and probably somewhere far north.
