Trade Deal with Far Eastern Union of Soviet Republics Cancelled Over Human Rights Concerns

Prime Minister Jonathan Wang has announced that the Government with withdrawing its previous plans to begin negotiating a far-reaching Asia-Pacific trade deal that included the Far Eastern Union of Soviet Republics at this time. Though originally open to the idea of the Asia-Pacific Closer Economic Pact, as the proposed economic union is known, the Government has changed course in light of recent events in Northern China, with Prime Minister Wang himself citing religious repression, human rights abuses, and extreme instability in the country as reasons for withdrawal. Responding to a question from Leader of the Opposition Anne Liu Guiying (Democratic Labor Party of Aozhou) about the situation during Question Time, Prime Minister Wang stated his intentions to launch a "more democracy and human rights oriented trade bloc in the near future".

Speaking separately with reporters on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Christopher Bergen MP reiterated the Government's commitment to human rights in its dealings abroad and said that the Nationalist Party/Union Party coalition stood with Orange-bourgogne and Romanovskaya in their principles stance against human rights abuses abroad.

_{Soviet Railways: Moscow-Leningrad Rail Line}

Moscow — The country's railway company, Soviet Railways, has announced the construction of an important infrastructure project between the two largest cities of the Soviet Union. The Moscow-Leningrad Rail Line is a 656.6 Km (408 miles) double track that will connect Leningrad to Moscow and their respective industrial centers. The line is expected to have 4 stations, which will include a cargo and passenger sections on each, to allow for the transport of goods at one substation and the movement of people at the other, different substation.

In addition to the double track, the 408-mile route will include full electrification and the construction of various service stops along the way to allow for the efficient maintenance of trains and the tracks themselves. In general, this project will create a line that is modern and equipped with the latest technology available in the world today. This lane will not necessarily replace existing lanes between the two cities but it will complement the existing infrastructure. As a result, greater capacity and reliability can be achieved. Wherever necessary, the line will increase from the 2 tracks to 3, 4 or however many are necessary to accommodate traffic. This is expected to happen near and at stations.

The Moscow-Leningrad Rail Line is expected to cost USD$2.45 billion and take 2 years to complete. The corporation has announced that investors and technical expertise from the United States (Imperial Eagle) will participate in the project. The American side will finance the project with around USD$1.1025 billion for a stake of 45%. The technical expertise will help Soviet Railways in the planning and the construction techniques of the project. The corporation will operate the line with a for-profit nature and the American side will be entitles to profits equivalent to their stake in the project.

Experts and engineers from both Amtrak and Union-Pacific will arrive in the coming days to help prepare the groundwork and planning of the new rail lines between the two cities and though the Federal Government has no say in the matter, it is hopeful that these joint projects will over time ease relations between our two great nations and pave the way for a more fruitful and healthy relationship.

Premier Valeri Stepanovich, previously Deputy Chairman of the Communist Party, addressed the People's Congress today after his unanimous election to Head of Government. The Premier thanked both his colleagues and the citizens of the UDR for the trust they placed in him to lead the country.

Stepanovich is set to shake up the country with significant reforms to the economy and a strong push to build international relations, particularly with other countries on the Eurasian continent.

The new leader told the People's Congress that the country's state owned primary and secondary sector companies will continue to find strong growth in both domestic and international trade but that it is time to develop the economy into new areas previously untouched, including the high tech and service industries.

Reforms are to begin with economic liberalisation in the nation's capital and large increases in spending towards infrastructure, especially in railways and air travel. "The UDR is a vast country", noted the Premier, "and we require fast, timely and consistent modes of transport if we are to see real growth during the next decade".

Moscow — The Soviet Foreign Ministry has officially disclosed a map of the Arctic Circle that declares what the Kremlin considers as belonging to the Soviet People. As the preeminent power in the Arctic, the Soviet Union is interested in a diplomatic and peaceful conversation of the future of the Arctic. It is the stance of the government that global warming is a serious issue that we all, as world community, must tackle to guarantee the survival and continuity of the human race and all other living things in this planet. However, as the ice caps sadly begin to melt, a new frontier is opened and as such a new set of questions over sovereignty arise.

We believe that conversation without honesty is a futile effort destined to fail. As such this Ministry makes clear to the world today what the country considers to be its sovereign territory in the Arctic with the intention of setting the pace and tone of this conversation. We hope that our neighbors in Arctic Circle are likewise willing and open to have this conversation in order to move forward in an orderly fashion and avoid a Scramble that could result in tragedy.

Classified - Rocket Test to go ahead - People's Defense Force

Previously

Although the ESAU alliance with Eulumia and Japan was terminated half a year ago, the State retains technological ties with Eulumia in its bid to push forward with a pan-Asian space exploration programme. The Department of State Resources has asked Jakarta to put forward 2 further rocket launch sites within Eulumia, due to its proximity to the equator; the Far Eastern Construction Bank is willing to assist the construction of the 2 additional sites with a loan of $2 billion USP (2.8% interest p.a.), along with a deployment of 100 engineers and technicians to assist in the construction.

The "Qinglong-1" heavy-lift rocket, which will be deployed for this programme, will be renamed as the "Asia-1" heavy-lift rocket. With its development 6 years in the running, the Department of State Resources has announced to Eulumia that it is ready for a test launch of the rocket. The "Asia-1" will see its inaugural launch at the Naro Space Center, helping deliver the first satellite within the Asian Satnav System (A.S.S) constellation. The A.S.S will offering services to customers in the Asia-Pacific region with regards to satellite navigation, and will be a benefit to both our militaries, economies, and civilian services. The launch is due to occur in 2 weeks; and the FEUSSR invites members from the Eulumian Bureau of Aerospace Technology and Science to attend the test launch.

In addition, the PDF has sold 14 of its Pohang-class corvettes to the Eulumian navy for a sum of $300 million USD.

The sovereignty of the Soviet Proletariat is of the utmost importance to the Kremlin. We believe that, based on the continental shelf and historical ties, the territory highlighted is rightfully belonging to the Soviet Union. The mistakes of 1991 shall not be committed again and the country stands firm in its belief that those waters are rightfully ours.

The Canadian Government believes that the middle of the Arctic shall remain and be international waters and that any disputes over it shall be negotiated. The Arctic is an important issue for Canada aswell. Canada doesn’t recognize the Soviet claim of the yellow shaded area and line. Some of the yellow line intrudes into Canadian waters which violates Canadian sovereignty and Canadian Waters.

Moscow — The Canadian Government can be assured that their current maritime territories will not affected. The map is a rough illustration of our claim. Our claim is supposed to border the territorial boundaries that exist currently, however it does not overlap any territory currently established. We insist that the Canadian Government refrains from pushing illegitimate claims over the Arctic Circle. Likewise, we warn that the Soviet Union will not tolerate any show of force as a medium to intimidate the Proletariat.

President Andrew Collins has sent a 7,000 European reconnaissance style executive desk to Basileus Dimitrios Atredai as a sign of friendship. He has also sent a hockey stick, jersey, puck, a bottle of maple syrup, a snowmobile, and a Newfoundland dog puppy. The desk is made out of maple and spruce. The desk is engraved with the Great Seal of the Confederation of Hellas.

President Andrew Collins has also sent a 7,000 colonial style executive desk to the leader of FEUSSR, Supreme Leader Kum, as a sign of friendship. The desk is made out of maple and eastern white pine. President Collins has also sent a hockey stick, snowmobile, a bottle of maple syrup, hockey puck, jersey, and 10 sugar maple trees to plant. The desk is engraved with the seal of the country of FEUSSR.

Federal Minimum Wage

The Canadian Government has decided to increase the federal minimum wage to 8.25$. The Canadian Government has also passed a law requiring students in 12th grade to take a one semester class on how to manage finances, debt, mortgage, loans, credit score, on how to pay taxes, etc. in order to graduate.
