I hope our Americans are enjoying the heat wave that will be setting in over the net few days. For some context, where I live, the average daily high and low now are 28 and 17 (83 and 63 Fahrenheit), and the forecast for this weekend is 35 and 24 (95 and 76 F). And it's going to be humid. Holy hell. I don't know how people live in subtropical or tropical climates; you are all much stronger than I am. Once it goes beyond appx. 25 (77F), it's too much for me. It seems increasingly likely that I may have to move further north at some point, if I am able.

Other than that, Trump is still is an ass, and the [G]OP continues to cut off pieces of its soul and to throw them into the blender of hatred and animosity. Good stuff. It's nice that we talk about the important things here and treat people with basic decency. Hopefully all of the real and imagined deities will conspire to shift things in 2020. If there are any young Americans out there reading, please register to vote and actually go vote. Bonus points and time off purgatory if you move to a swing state and vote.

If I could be the dictator...

Also, we may be having an incoming embassy request from The Kingdom of Great Britain, which seems to be a cut or two above the normal stream of requests that land in my inbox (not least of all because of how small their embassy list is!), when people bother to send a telegram at all. I will have more information as soon as it becomes available, should that be the case. :-)

I hope everyone is doing well, that our 'Murican AC units hold out, and that the crumbling power grid doesn't black out in the face of the worst heat wave we're getting so far this year.

Ruinenlust, Foreign Minister

P.S. Excessive heat is so much worse than excessive coldness. If it's cold, you can always put more clothing on. If it's hot, and you take too much off, they arrest you, and you're still hot and gross anyway. :-/

Its going to be 105-110 for me...please kill me.

Same here. Temp was 105 at the peak today.

I'm the furthest person *from* West Virginia.

So... Off the Western coast of Perth?

The Cypher Nine wrote:Its going to be 105-110 for me...please kill me.

110+ but dry here. However, that is normal pre-monsoon desert Arizona weather. I'll definitely take it over Virginia heat. I don't know if I have ever felt any more overheated than I did visiting N. Virginia on a 95 degree day!

Canaltia wrote:So... Off the Western coast of Perth?

That would be farthest not "furthest."

Literally everyone I can find I have been endorsed, tho I may have missed a couple.

Lord, that Arizona heat is something else. Stepping out of the Phoenix airport in the summer, it's like the heat decided to smack me in the face.

Lol most of the people here are using farenheit than celcius which I think when it reaches 100+F, everyone is fried.

Also, anyone wants to play El-Fish with me? Let's trade .roe files!

yah fairinhight is crazy. it can be below freezing and still above zero and water boils at 200 something.

but its what i think in because its what i'm used to. 70 is just right for me, though most people are fine with 80 which i'm not.

where i live in northern nevada we get all kinds of weathers, though less total annual percipitation then most places,
making the surrounding area kind of semi-desert, but northern desert like the gobi and not southern desert like the sahara.

with low humidity you don't notice the heat as much, but that probably makes it more deadly and i still don't like it.

being as far north as we are, and at the elevation we are,
summers are actually a lot milder then they were in the central valley of california when i lived there.

we don't get temps lasting for weeks on end in the over 100s. but we still get more hot days then i would care for.
one of the reasons i'd rather be living further back up in my mountains or even further north.

and glad for having a real air conditioner/heat pump!

All of this RL geographical talk has me thinking...maybe it would be kind of cool to have a RL map of the world, and people could claim part of the map based on where they live, in addition to our actual Map of Forest (which is an awesome map, I might add!). In reality, we'd probably need an inset for Europe and another for the USA, but it might be a cool thing. On the other hand, the unreal aspect is one of the features of NS.

lol :-)

i need a link to that map. (the one of forest i mean) i've forgotten how to find it. and i wonder if cameroi's been here long enough now, or whatever the qualification is, to claim some part of it. we're landlocked and mountainous, so any place that can be would be fine

Can I get onto the map?
Forest's map operated on an opt in basis. Any nation wishing to join the regional map must have a regional Influence rating of 30 SPDR or higher. You can check your regional influence here. Influence is a measure of a combination of World Assembly endorsements and length of time spent in a region. Nations below 30 SPDR must wait until they reach that level before applying.

How big can I be?

You may not request an area for your nation larger than approximately 500 by 500 pixels (a 500500 box is located on the bottom right of the map for reference) on the full uploaded map scale unless you have 100 SPDR or over. If you surpass 100 SPDR and would like to request a larger size, please telegram the cartographers with your new request.

What Else Can Be Requested

You may request a specific size for your nation so long as it is below the requirements listed above. You may request a specific location, access to a river, water, landlocked status, etc. so long as it is within reason. If you would like your nation in a specific location on the map, please check on the biome map[pending] to make sure that its climate matches that area appropriately.

The cartographers reserve the right to refuse to add or to edit any nation or feature on the regional map.

The Form

Please use this form to send your application to the head cartographer Areulder.

Verdant Haven wrote:I despise that issue, because of that terrible effect chain.

The "International Incident" series seems kind of obsessed with getting me to nuke places. That's a terrible thing to do, if only because charred skeletons make terrible slaves.

Sorry, graciously liberated new citizens.

Not slaves.

It's pretty miserable in Minnesota, too. 95 degrees with an 80 degree dewpoint. And it's not even sunny.

Yep, the heat can actually exert a little pressure if a door leading into a cool building in opened up. It is similar to opening an oven after baking something.

Glad to see everyone else is suffering with the heat wave. I've been helping out my school's IT department for a bit, and sometimes that involves carrying heavy things. Carrying heavy things + intense 100 degree heat = death.

And I still don't have Gil Zardon's land. Disgraceful!

I'd be down. It doesn't seem like something we'd have pinned or linked in our WFE, but it would be pretty neat to see where everyone is from!

...and to learn exactly where you live in case of future blackmailing endeavors (I defer to my pretitle).

Ziotah and Riverside is pleased to announce that after a national referendum, our official title will be "The Federal Socialist Republic of Ziotah and Riverside."

Since Ziotah and Riverside is a multi-party parliamentary democracy with a variety of socialist parties, the name was agreed upon after a lengthy debate and a broad agreement to uphold the spirit of Ziotah and Riverside's non-sectarian socialist tradition.

Rejected names -

"The Libertarian Socialist Republic"
"The Eternal Marxist-Leninist State"
"The Green Socialist Republic"
"The Juche State"
"F*** the Police*

A map where people were assigned different areas of territory might be hard to do, especially if we have a lot of people living in the same place. But we could certainly do a map of general RL locations with map pins (sort of like the kind you sometimes see at tourist destinations -- put a pin in where you come from!). Google MyMaps would be great for that: https://mymaps.google.com. I did one with it marking the location of labeled photos from last year's photo contest, which was pretty cool.

In fact, why don't I start one :P

As I wrote in the map description: ** It is NOT recommended to add your location to more than the state/province/large city level. Pins should be assumed to have no more than this level of accuracy. ** For example, I've added my pin in the location that Google calls "Rhode Island", not the actual town/city I live in.

Feel free to add yourself or telegram me and I can add you ^_^

I have been busy lately, between work and a very brief sojourn to a wonderful land to have an amazing encounter with an elephant. I have pictures. Miss you all

I am for this KoGB embassy proposal.
