East Moray is the first member of Oatlands new ambassador program.

I'm personally fine with knocking off stuff like Futaba Aoi, when they haven't had a delegate in awhile, the Founder has CTEd multiple times, and 2/3s of the region hasn't logged on in over 2 weeks.

Hey, hey, hey...now let's not do anything drastic. The electorate made clear that the embassy with Futaba Aoi is completely useful and it would be very rude to close it... [Insert Sarcasm]. Also, I just returned to Forest...the inner Foreign Minister in me will loose it's mind going through another one of those votes. Uan aa Boa can back me up here.

I wouldn't protest against this loudly this time as long as we wrote them a nicely worded telegram/post about it. After all, we've been embassied with them for seven years-- that's a non-trivial amount of time. I think if we were to say adieu now, we at least would need to acknowledge what a long-lasting relationship that has been, how we're saddened by their unfortunate inactivity, and how we'd be happy to reestablish embassies if they ever regained activity. Especially in light of our problems in communicating effectively about embassies in the NWA situation, we need to make sure we're not unintentionally getting people annoyed at us whom we don't actually have anything against.

Cute video! Unfortunately, I doubt that the same approach would work for ugly bags of mostly water humans.

I would support a closure as long as we go out of our way to explain our reasoning.

This is me backing you up. Actually I seriously intend this to be my last word on embassies in Forest, a subject I've butted my head against for most of the time I've been here. There's long been a feeling among government members that we are overly inclusive in our approach to embassies - that we vote to open them with regions that aren't a good match for us and have a number of them on our list that we never do anything with, including some that we have never done anything with. During the 3 days of polling on a proposed new embassy one or two friendly people from the region in question send over enthusiastic puppets to tell us how awesome we are, the vote passes, we never here from them again and neither does anyone from Forest visit them. Then some drama happens such as with NWA or LCRUA because we don't really know anything about our embassy partners and never realised that some of them are pretty dodgy places, so there's another RMB meltdown surrounding a vote on closure. And if a Forest Keeper or Foreign Minister seeks closure of a dead embassy there's more extensive debate which includes accusations of arrogance and other forms of unpleasantness. Plus once in a while we have a brainstorming session along the lines of "it would be good if our embassy policy was..." but it rarely comes to anything, and people don't always appreciate the implications of having all the specifics of our embassy procedure embedded in the constitution.

When I was Forest Keeper I had hoped to bring the endless discussion to some kind of result, so Mount Seymour drafted a proposed constitutional amendment intended to improve the situation and in an informal consultation vote in January it was approved 23-7. To actually amend the constitution, however, requires the approval of the founder Errinundera and since January he has completely ignored public and private requests for that approval from both me and Turbeaux.

So the two conclusions I have come to are firstly that Forest debates its embassies endlessly but in practice values them very little and secondly that the situation is the way it is because of a constitution that we cannot change. Therefore I no longer attach any significance to our embassies, and like Raccoon Creek/Montmorencia I have no appetite for the drama that would attend another closure vote. There's simply a list of region names written under the grey box on the homepage and that's about all there is to it. With the issues being systemic and unfixable I'm done debating embassies and I don't plan to do any more in future than cast my vote in polls, which will usually be against openings and in favour of closures.

Finally made it! Full Forest season 1 deck. page=deck/collection=2126/

Canaltia made it 109 days ago but for me it was really hard to get those few last cards. Almost all of them were junked and many card owning nations dying.

Nice job! You going to do the same for season two as well?

Canaltia wrote:Nice job! You going to do the same for season two as well?

Maybe. I wonder when it's going to come up? Should be a lot easier to collect if they lock those cards right away for season 2, meaning no moving and dying nations involved like in the beginning when this all started.

I can't say that I've had a strategy in the cards game aside from collecting more of my own card. Is that bad?

I also have 29 x my own nation card and still collecting them. But I'm just keeping bids up, so not doing anything else for it.

Nope. I considered doing the same, but I couldn't bring myself to try to keep my wonderful flag all to myself.

I just open card packs when I get them, junk commons and uncommons, and if a card is worth more than 1.00, I send it to Canaltian North. My puppet region, CanRegion, helps a lot, as I answer a lot of issues there. I'm trying to visibly shift the global average for weather.

Btw, I didn't use any puppets. Never had one. One nation is enough for now. Seems like some nations went totally nuts with puppets when this card thing started, they have crazy numbers of cards and deck value is also huge.

I only have nine of my own card but I have a decent bid up. Hopefully, that number will increase!

I rolled my eyes the first time I saw an ad for that! Perhaps everybody should buy ice cream insurance too so they can get another cone if a Seagull steals theirs (https://youtu.be/azGZf0wKOKQ).

I have had quite a few puppets, I've created over 20 nations, though most have CTE'd. I only maintain 3 nations currently.

I have ten nations including my main. It can get a little overwhelming (even with NS++) but I get to see new issues more quickly than if I just had one. 4.5 of those are ambassadors (I am kind of the RMB ambassador to Conifer but I have voting rights too.) and two are observers (I am keeping an eye on Europe and Grenada. I put Einstuerzende Neubauten in Europe because the band that it is named after is German.). I also have extra puppets in Forest and Conifer that I started as jokes. Additionally, I created a nation back in 2003 that I have forgotten the name of but got up to a billionish population.

Like you, I keep puppets to communicate on regional RMBs. Cumulatively over my tenure of NS (since 2012) I've created nearly 30 nations, many of which were short-lived or jokes. Presently, I only have 5 nations. Any more becomes too burdensome to manage as well as simply frivolous.
