As you know, I have always supported relations with The League of Conservative Nations.
We have, through talks with LCN High Officials, discovered several things that have been going on through the past month or so.
We know Doge Republics was 100% behind the attack, there is no doubt about that in either the FCN or LCN Government. It is also known, and admitted by LCN Officials, that they were using Doge Republics' access to the FCN Server for months prior to the attack for espionage purposes. Specifically between the months of July and November, Doge Republics would run checks of the FCN Server's Cabinet, Military, and Public Channels, and also oftentimes in the Conservative Party server. Another, less-confirmed but highly plausible event that has happened is that Doge Republics has an alt in this very server. Information about what has occurred in this server has been passed between Doge Republics and Quebecshire, and I'd like to thank Quebecshire for passing the knowledge that Doge Republics has an eye into this server to the FCN Administration.
Firstly, I'd like to openly denounce the LCN for their use of espionage against the FCN's Government and a Political Party. It was entirely out of line and unnecessary. Secondly, I'd like to thank Quebecshire again for the information and cooperation, as well as the rest of the LCN Administration. Lastly, I'd like to announce that it is unlikely that relations will be expanded with the LCN within the next few weeks. We, however, do end up planning on eventually re-opening relations with the LCN, but for the moment the status quo will be maintained.
-Holy Rhinish Islands, President
LCN Chief Consul Quebecshire has been banned from the FCN Discord for his involvement in the espionage.
This morrow in the FCN Senate, the highest legislative body in the FCN, a rather strange Constitutional Amendment was proposed by Senate Speaker New Inglaterra. The Amendment had proposed that an amendment had to receive either 2/3 in the Senate and 1/2 in the region or 1/2 in the Senate and 2/3 in the Region. Many Senators had argued why this is a bad bill, and the debate for such a bill had been occurring since Friday.
Mr. Senate Speaker makes the claim that "the actions of a select few senators dictate the entire region" in the current system, in which 2/3 of voting Senators must Aye an Amendment for it to pass into law. Opposition to this bill includes Justice San Carlos Islands, who says that "Amendments should be proposed by the Senate with a normal 2/3 and then ratified by the people". Many agree with this statement, such as Senate Clerk Emerisis, Senate Pro-Tempore Legion of Mankind, and, rather notably, President Holy Rhinish Islands. The Amendment was Proposed this morrow at 2:08 AM ET, and was seconded by Vice President Greater Bastion at 2:33 AM ET.
An Amendment to the Bill, proposed by New Inglaterra as well, would replace the "voter" parts of the bill with "citizen". However, there is no Citizen rank on the NationStates region, and only 10 people in the FCN are a Citizen but not a Senator at the moment. The Amendment changes little to nothing, as the 10 non-Senators really don't make a difference, seeing as many of them are inactive. Should the Amendment to the Bill fail and the Bill pass, the REC would likely need to be up year-round to prevent puppets from interfering in the election.
This very morning the FCN had released information that had stated the LCN was spying on the FCN from July to November, 2019. In response to this, the FCN Government has banned the only LCNer in the Discord from the Discord, Chief Consul Quebecshire, and has halted the reconstruction of diplomatic relations. President Holy Rhinish Islands had stated that he was upset that the information wasn't given out sooner. Most, if not all, of the FCN rallies behind the call for shaming the LCN's Government for hiding the information. Evidence of the espionage by the LCN on the FCN was also given to the Furbish Islands administration just mere days before his term would be over as President, dumping the issue into the Rhinish administration's hands. Secretary of Internal Affairs Gagium was quoted to have said that a fight with the LCN was not one the FCN would win by conventional standards. However, opposition, including ex-Delegate Ibenta, argues that it is an unneeded fight at the moment. The debate heats up, and tensions get colder.
On the Campaign Trail, President Holy Rhinish Islands had promised more activity, but the opposite has occurred. In the past week and a half, only 5 main motions have been considered, 4 of them passing and a fifth being debated at the writing of this article. President Rhinish claims that he doesn't want to make too many drastic changes in the first couple of weeks of his term, but that also means that the Senate will largely be inactive, much like that of the pre-SAR era. Senate Speaker New Inglaterra has alone proposed 3/5 of the bills that have hit the Senate Floor, but with the coming of the weekend it is possible that a newfound burst of activity could save the Senate, and President Rhinish's term.
