We're getting pretty close to a new poll! :O
When will Swift sure and Darcness receive their appropriate game-side masking as President and Vice-President respectively? The region's admin page still lists Rachel anumia as VP, with nobody as game-side president.
The new poll will be "best US President"!
Voted 90s because of Images and Words.
What is that?
Second Dream Theater album. It's very good (at least in my opinion anyway lol)
New poll: page=poll/p=106396
Who do you think is the best American President of all time?
I went with FDR, what did everyone else pick?
I voted FDR too! And will explain why after I get some sleep!
I hope you do, also sleep well!
Is there an option for none of the above?
Ugh. All of these presidents were terrible in some way...
Even FDR? :(
Edit: I totally forgot about the internment camps... definitely a black mark.
Not being from the US and being unfamiliar with American history, this poll is a little lost on me. The previous poll however; the 90s was the greatest era! I mostly say that for the music of the time with bands like The Prodigy producing some great stuff.
Um, I'm going to say JFK, just because.
John F. Kennedy hands down. That brilliant man was one in a billion.

This why I think the greatest President has to be Franklin D. Roosevelt:
I do not think there has been another American President who has fundamentally transformed the economy for each American. Americans are still living in the America that Franklin Roosevelt created and in the resulting decades the best they have done is tinker with the system. Even the regulatory responses to the 2008 recession were essentially simply bringing back some of the financial regulations implemented by FDR. It is disappointing when one looks at just how different Obama’s response to the fiscal crisis was compared to FDRs. Obama’s plan included a great amount of necessary bailout money but little to none of the labour reform that attacked inequality like FDRs New Deal did.
It’s incredible how much FDR did. Even how we examine the first “100 days” of a Presidency comes from how productive FDR was in his first 100 days in office, meeting with congress in each of them and passing fifteen major laws. It is little wonder that America after Roosevelt was the most equal it has ever been and resulted in an extremely prosperous middle class. Even more incredible was how FDR transformed America despite how ‘against’ Americans were to big government. FDR transformed the narrative by using American folklore rather than working against it and embracing reform. Modern Democrats struggle mightily to mimic his success even when faced a similar crisis to the Depression.
This is all without mentioning how FDR ensured that America would get involved in World War 2 and the defeat of the Axis powers. An incredible feat considering just how popular isolationism was even during the war. When we can say all that about just how he utterly transformed America and then as an aside talk about how he saved the world, that to me is the greatest President.
Happy Thanksgiving, to all who celebrate it! :D And to those who don't, I still hope you have a happy day!!

That was exactly what I was thinking about.
I totally agree that that FDR's actions were monumental. Although it still is a bit controversial whether or not his economic policies actually ended the Great Depression, or if it was just World War II that lifted the US of of the depression. I'd be ecstatic if you could find some information proving that his actions were instrumental in the US's economic rise.
And I'm a little hesitant to give FDR all this credit for his accomplishments. It's a great man perspective of history, and it can often leave out people who really deserve credit. For example, FDR was very hesitant to support rights for African Americans. His support of progressive laws that helped minorities was mainly due to Eleanor Roosevelt. Nearly all of the most popular presidents have similar stories where people 'in the background' were incredibly influential reasons presidents made popular decisions that would engrave them as legends in history.
In the end, there are so many presidents I both admire and hate. I really liked how much Polk got done during his presidency, nearly doubling the size of the country and leading the nation through a remarkably successful war (and unfortunately, he basically died from the excessive stress and work he did). And I also admire Wilson's progressive policies, and his idealism he showed through the League of Nations. I loved Teddy Roosevelt's vigor, his personality, and his pursuit of progressive policies during his administration. And we all know Lincoln's accomplishments. But nearly all of them have done actions which caste a shadow over their legacy, and it's important to remember this also.
So I just can't choose.
Thanks.
Ciao tutti! I am new here. I hope everyone had a wonderful Turkey Day!
