Einswenn wrote:Here's a random story from my trips.

Once in Morocco I've met a guy from Russia who came there... by bicycle. He spent months and months but all his transportation option was his old yet working bike. All the route he took was practically visa-free which made the task be easier and Morocco wasn't his last stop though. I mean I don't think I would have such courage and enthusiasm to do this

Tbh, I kind of wanna do that. Just cycling to a far place, even if it's only Zurich :D

Most Americans don't know many cities in France (not saying you don't) so they usually don't even bother looking outside of côté d'Azur or Île de France. Some of the most authentic and beautiful cities in France are just not that well known like Saint-Malo, Orleans, Bordeaux, Montpellier and Avignon

That's true. Unfortunately I haven't been to cities like Orleans, Avignon, Lille, and others but they're part of my dream trip to la France

I love bicycles and do miss my bike which is not with me anymore. SPb is not a really comfy city to ride a bike outside of designated areas in parks so I have a hunger for it. But having intercontinental bike tour is insane if you ask me :D Intercontinental crossing the Bosphorus strait in Istanbul doesn't count

I'd say that the French - Occitan relationship is comparable to the relationship of the United Kingdom and Wessex

So far, my list is:

UK (England and Scotland only)
the Netherlands
Belgium
Luxembourg
France
Germany
Switzerland
Austria
Liechtenstein
Denmark (Faroe Islands & Mainland)
Iceland
Norway

As you can see most of it is quick trips I took as a student in Amsterdam in Northwestern Europe, I'd like one day to head south more (Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia, etc.) or somewhere in the Baltic area (Latvia, Estonia, St. Petersburg, Finland) and Wales :)

Fun fact, the southernmost place I have been in Europe is Bordeaux, which is ironic because it isn't even that far south haha

But yes, Paris was a bit too touristy for me, although it was pretty, I definitely prefer Bordeaux or even places like Brest are pretty cool too

You don't know the pain when you live in Amsterdam for a little bit, then come back to America and people are like "Bikes? To go places? Hahaha funny joke" :/

This line refers to the region of Brittany in France, with "domesticated dogs" meaning being ruled by the French, and "will become wild again" means an independent Breton people.

Bretons are a minority
Less than 20% actually know the language

Yeah I love to see so many bikes in Europe but frankly I liked it more in Copenhagen because they have wider streets with bike lanes comparing to a very, very tight Amsterdam

Estellan wrote:Jesus, Orient, I think that's longer than Einswenn's

It is. I've only been to 15 countries so far excluding Russia and its regions

Amsterdam was nice, but really loud and touristy

I DO know the pain, but it was muted for me since I live in Portland, aka bike city, USA

That's sad, if I was living in Breton I'd be sure to learn the language, it annoys me here in America the only language to learn is boring English
