Libertandonien wrote:why are height and weight not pronounced the same?

The word “height” used to be spelt “highth”, from a combination of “high” and “-th”. It changed its spelling in the 18th century, but without a corresponding chance in pronunciation. The word “weight”, on the other hand, was adapted from “wight”, which was pronounced as /wixt/ when Middle English arose, and later changed its pronunciation during the 16th century to fit the spelling.

Yes

Not how it works
Organic food's biggest downside is that it can't be produced in the same quantities as non-organic food and requires extensive labour because the crops still have to be maintained and protected from insects and disease where pesticides would normally have done the trick

If you're an American you have to pay to get the organic approval sticker on your products which drives up the price even more

Also scale is important. Large scale operations and large quantities of anything going into production is always cheaper per unit than small-scale acquisitions.

Organic food isn’t exactly always healthy either

Engales and southern ireland wrote:Organic food isn’t exactly always healthy either

You'd consume less pesticide and lower your carbon footprint
It is the better option for you and the planet

Well, butter is basically fat and water; which is not too healthy indeed (and especially so in large quantities), regardless if you buy it from organic or non-organic sources. That's not the point of organic production, though.

Exactly
Pesticide pollute our drinking water and ruin the soil the crops grow on

And that's excluding the heavy pollution from chemical manufacturing

Atrazine. It is creating virtual eunuchs (not homosexuals) in three-quarters of male frogs studied. One in 10 become female.
