The Faramanian Republic is ranked in the top 5 of Europa for whole slew of metrics: insurance industry (3rd), disposable income (3), freedom from taxation (4), retail industry (4), gambling (4), beverage sales (4), obesity (4), mining (5), timber woodchipping (5) and unfortunately also rudeness (5) and death rate (5). Their strong economy also puts them in the world top 1% ranking for freedom from taxation (0.9%) and retail (1%)! Faramount IC is truly an economic powerhouse and OOC a remarkable person to have as friend.
The Republic of Faramount is a colossal, safe nation, ruled by President Matthew Terrus with a fair hand, and notable for its pith helmet sales, public floggings, and sprawling nuclear power plants. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic, humorless population of 9.199 billion Faramanians hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.
The minute, outspoken government, or what there is of one, juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defense, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Faramount City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 1.2%.
The all-consuming Faramanian economy, worth a remarkable 1,604 trillion Imperial Dollars a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Retail industry, with significant contributions from Information Technology, Gambling, and Uranium Mining. Average income is an impressive 174,410 Imperial Dollars, with the richest citizens earning 7.5 times as much as the poorest.
The government recently donated a surfboard to an impoverished family in a landlocked region, alleyways are now mostly used for illegal drug deals rather than illegal surgical procedures, citizens may cast their vote over the internet or phone, and anyone who so much as frowns risks being referred to a mental health unit. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Faramount's national animal is the Lion, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.
