Hello and welcome to the Council of Constructed Languages!

It's a bit weird or just a bit difficult for me to read your language's script because I know the Japanese ones, Hiragana and Katakana, and a bit of Kanji so I'll try not to read that way.

(Oh btw, I can safely claim about 25% Japanese ancestry from my Filipino side, not great info lol)

Soo... English spelling reform? :D

I like what you did with the vowels, quite descriptive, and I particularly like the accent for long vowels for some reason. Interesting choice of ñ for ŋ.. I'm pretty sure I've seen that usage before, but I can't remember which language(s).. do you know any?

Edit: obviously I was too curious to wait for an answer.. according to wikipedia it is used as ŋ in Crimean Tatar, Malay, Nauran and romanized Quenya. What an awesomely random list of languages! :D

Also, something about the song. Since Ivory coasts has been inactive for two weeks, close to being CTE'd, I need someone to volunteer to replace them and translate their lines. Unless they come back before disappearing into the abyss. We can wait just to make sure but I doubt that they are coming back.

Kowani, Kongfuzia, and Kuerhyedeenistan

Everybody gangsta until technical terms are to be translated. It's something that's really not much straight forward. When you want to say "auger bit" in Russian, you can’t translate it word for word and assume you're right. Almost any tool, machine or component has a different name in English, German, Czech, Russian... Unless your language got influenced by 100 years of British colonial rule, a direct translation from English seems a bit off.

Round one of the Technical terms challenge is centered around the lathe:

(Word-for-word names are in italics)

ұкэщтэн - lathe (grater/hogger)
қршь түшьзтьк - cross slide (across run)
қршь түштьк - top slide (upper run)
төшэктэ - bed (bedding)
хоргашть - ways (lead/conductor)
ихтэ - headstock (spindler)
их - spindle (yarn spindle)
жьнщэлэнэштэ - chuck (clamper-attacher)
тана - dog (spur)
кəрэшихтэ - tailstock (againstspindler)
жэп хоргашактьм - leadscrew (leading screw)
аіналагактьгакжат - machining (aboutdoing)
ұкэщтэнəкжəт - machining on a lathe (lathing)
дандаракжат - turning (taking away)
дандаракжат шоньдан - facing (taking away from the end)
данищтэгəкжəт - parting (poking away)
бүргэл - drill bit (*)
жьданбүргэл - boring bar (out-of drill)
жэдəнұкэщте - reamer (out-of grate/hog)
жэптэ - tap (threader)
жэпкөр - die (threadeye)
түжүгэ - rake (on a lathe tool) (run-in)

*: drill bit translated word for word to Eastern Tatar is "бүргэлтэ дана" but the actual Eastern Tatar word for drill bit can't be translated to English in such a way.

Thinking of translating said song with you guys. It would be interesting.

Auruna wrote:Alright, I did the dividing. Tried to give each at least 3 lines to translate and based it the dividing on the world edition.

I think it's all good. The formatting needs a bit of work but at the end result, we're going to colour the lines. If you can't understand what is shown here, I can modify it so that it can be easier to read. There might be a few mistakes, like me forgetting to give one language at least 3 lines so inform me if you saw any of that.

Here's the English translation of the song. (Note: It's originally Japanese)

We're keeping the ones in bold as is. You can modify the line to suit your language but please make it similar in meaning and is able to be sung in tune of the song. You can include the romanization of your language as a guide.

If you have questions, feel free to ask me.

The lines assigned to Ivory coasts are up for grabs! (Unless said nation chimes in real quick..)

Eastern Tatarstan, I don't even know what half of those words are in Norwegian, so translation to Kuerhyét might take a while.. XO
