"He wasn't told anything about what he was going into. None of them were."

-

Corporal Daniel Parker peered over the side of the truck. He could barely see anything off in the distance, as a thick fog had set over the land. Heavy bombardment meant that ground was just mud with craters dotted around. It didn't exactly help that it was raining, and it was only a miracle that the two trucks didn't get bogged down. The squad which Parker was a part of had never actually been deployed before, with only the sergeant having actual combat experience. They had been through the drills hundreds of times over. A checkpoint came into view ahead, illuminated by the fog lights on the front truck. The vehicles stopped for a quick inspection before picking up their pace and moving into the village. There was already a team here, equipped exactly the same way as Parker's. Tents and temporary fortifications had been erected and the trucks stopped near a two-story house, yellow in colour. The squelching of mud as Parker and his team hopped off would quickly become annoying, though the team's hopes were still high. He followed his team leader as they walked along the side of the "road" for a minute or two before the hum of a large vehicle became more apparent. He looked behind to see if it was on the road, but it wasn't. Then looked forward again: there it was, an armoured wheel loader. At first glance, it appeared to just be moving materials. Parker only then noticed two soldiers lifting body bags into the front part of the loader. His mind started to jump around on what the bodies could have been from... did they execute them? Did they kill themselves? Then he realised the obvious, as they were all in CBRN gear: this was some kind of disease. The only thing keeping the rancid smell of the bodies out was his gas mask. Nothing in the scenarios he trained in prepared him for this, and he felt like he was about to get sick. He looked forward and realised he had fell behind the rest of his team. Glancing one more time at the wheel loader, he started jogging after the squad as they went into a tent.

It was their barracks, and before the squad leader could even start explaining anything, Parker ripped off his mask and tried to calm himself down. "Parker, what's wrong?" The squad leader asked. Parker didn't respond. "Parker?"

"Sir, I... I don't know what I saw out there.. Why weren't we briefed on what would be here?!" Parker replied, still breathing heavily.

"Corporal, you should have known what would be here. Now try and calm yourself down." Squad Leader Matt Reinier urged.

"Captain, what's out there?" Another trooper asked. "We deserve to know."

Reinier looked over at him. "It's bodies. There's a disease ravaging this area, and we don't know what it is. We're here to stop it."

"And it's bad enough that we can't even bury these people?" The trooper questioned.

"You're here to do your job, and that's as far as it goes." Reinier moved back into the middle of the tent. Completely disregarding what was just said, he started again. "You'll be sleeping here for a few weeks until we go home. Through there," he pointed towards an "opening" in the back of the tent, "is the bathrooms and canteen which also serves as a briefing room. We start tomorrow, so get your fo-"

Reinier was interrupted by gunshots far off in the distance. A siren started blaring in the village as well. "Right on time, eh? Put your masks back on and get your rifles ready. Follow me when you're ready." Reinier moved out of the tent, leaving many questions unanswered. All the troopers looked at each other and wondered what was truly here.

The war, although only lasting a few months, was drawing to an end. The Tertanian army and its allies had rebounded from the Kyratean attack and had pushed deep into Kyratean territory. Their military was no longer strong enough to fight on the frontlines. The new Kyratean "doctrine" was to use guerrilla tactics and essentially become terrorists. The official government quickly collapsed, but most officials slipped into the terrorist organisation. A portion of the Tertanian army would have to stay in Kyrate to keep the peace, though with the indoctrinated population, that would potentially be difficult.

"The war is finally over." Jaedan Maxwell began. He was sitting in a private mansion owned by President King located on an island just south of Isonphis. The two sat on the balcony and looked at the glistening skyline in the distance. "Well, maybe finally is an overstatement. It was a few months."

"A few months is long enough," King replied. "The war is over, but we can't rest just yet. Jocospor has called us to help after an invasion by Depackya and West Heisen. I think it was them, anyways."

"The soldiers won't be happy. They expect at least a few months of rest." Maxwell sighed. "Well, they'll have to deal with it. Our armies are spread thin as well."

"I know that. Let's hope we can just piggyback off the rest of the Confederation's efforts and not contribute everything we have," King joked. "To the Confederation."

"To the Confederation," Maxwell echoed. They softly clinked their glasses together. The next few months would be hectic with how much they'd have to do, but they'd hopefully be able to get through it. All they could do now is wait and see what would happen.

To the Confederation,

It has come to my attention that some Loyalist nations have decided to issue ultimatums to neutral states. They speak on their own behalf, the CDF and the Department of Defense will not be supporting them in any way. This war so far tips in the favor of the Loyalists, we do not need more enemies at this time. Saying that, we will also not stop them, as the CDF is busy mobilizing for the Liberation of Jocospor.

To the Loyalists, I advise against making such threats against neutral states. You may call them traitors, call them cowards, withdraw diplomacy, etc. However, we will not support a war against them.

To the Neutrals, while I disprove of your stance, I apologize for any threats made.

To the Traditionalists, prepare for your demise.

With the breach of the Isolationism of our profound nation, the King of The Byzatine Empire has announced for the support of the nation and emperor of our profound region Jocospor. With this support we have decided not to go to war with the Tradionalists, but we will have the region and the world acknowledge our support of Jocospor with the burning of the Heisenian flag, the deportaion of their immigrants. And finally an embargo on the nation of West Heisen.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY OF THE SENATE

With the death of the President, Viktor McRain of The Yeetusa, and the Government Act defining what to do in this situation, His Supreme Majesty and the Imperial Council have decided to name Harry Brenfort of Kleptocratic maniacs Acting-President of the Imperial Senate. Soon, he will have the power to put motions to the polls, and will be able to utilise the Senate's powers in the war against the Traditionalists.

This will likely be temporary!

At some point soon, the senators that are alive will be invited to an emergency assembly of the Imperial Senate, and discuss what the Senate can do in this time of war.

It's a tragedy as the Imperial heir, Chase Caesar, was found dead in his apartments in the Palace of The Emperor. The Senator suffered from Tatumian-Szlinden disease, a disease which has claimed the lives of many Emperors in Tatumia's past. It is unclear who will take his Senate seat and more importantly who will be heir now. James Caesar has yet to respond. Join us tomorrow for the reading of his will.

Nikolai along with Maxim, were still at the party building, at this late hour
The two men could not find the strength to sleep after receiving this threat,
and after not following the policy, sending some help, this man and his nation were now permanently
blacklisted, and the only pleasure could be not being contacted again, by this man [b]

-I hope not all loyalist in this conflict, are like that man, being unable to hear the word no, or else
this war is going to be funny

*Said maxim while holding his cup of coffee, Nikolai looking more tired than he ever looks
Shook his head, drinking too his cup of coffee*

-No it's a small minority, like in every community who acts like that, but they are more visible because they are noisier,
good and level-headed persons like our ally Eurasia, are the proof, but they are less visible because they are not noisier, and
those who act and don't talk without thinking, but we don't hear about them

-Well it's true those who speaks louder than the others, and act without thinking are always more visible

-But these loyalists, who are not of any interest to me, like this pointless conflict who is bringing me
nothing to the table is not my problem, I have a bigger one

*Said Nikolai while sighing loudly, finishing his second cup of coffee*

-What is the bigger problem then ?

*Said Maxim, holding in an embrace his dear close friend, who he hated to see like that*

-I could not respect my own policy, and I'm sure i just.... Deceived everyone in the party

-How can you say that Nicky, you acted accordingly to a man who threatened us with war, because
he could not bear, to hear the word no, you protected all of us, and it's more important

-Maybe, I'm awful ...

-My dear Nicky, I can promise you, that you are good-looking, intelligent, cold, detached, but sometimes
even perfect beings like you when they are stressed, or tired are doubting and Sad

-Maybe I'm just a fragile and insecure man

*Said Nikolai on the brinks of tears before crying like he never had in years*

-My poor Nicky, you are tired and stressed out, you need to rest

-I can't, if I rest I will lose everything

*Said Nikolai between the tears, Now crying on his friend shoulder, the friend in question
was gently caressing his hair, and back, trying to calm him down*

-Shh Nicky, everything will be okay now, you did good, you protected all of us
so don't worry okay ?, you want your favorite hot milk with honey, like in college,
with a tissue

-Don't disappear…

-"I'm not disappearing my Nicky, don't worry, I'm only going to get your hot milk, with a tissue"

[b]After these words, he came back as he promised with a bowl of hot milk, and a tissue and the two,
men like in their college years, were only with each other, Nikolai with his head on maxim shoulder
drinking his hot milk, Covered with a blanket

James Caesar has just approved sweeping legislation. The draft act which expands the draft in dramatic ways. Ages 15 to 95 can now be drafted for the war effort. The draft act also cites a rarely enforced law that says all citizens are in the United Tatumian military. This means that the Military can choose to charge anyone with conduct unbecoming and choose to assemble a military tribunal and prosecute them with any punishment including death. The Wartime Mobilization act, for loaning money, previous laws have said that the Goverment can't loan in excess of thirty billion dollars to any foreign powers, now the Government can loan as the Emperor sees fit and he can preempt other contracts to manufacturing companies, the Emperor can default on contracts with countries that the Tatumians are at war with. The Colonial draft act also says that 10 to 100 year olds can be drafted. The Wartime Manufacturing act says that the Government can choose to unilaterally enter a contract with any manufacturing Corporation and can pay anything equivalent or above the costs to acquire the materials.

5 MRAPs from the Pere Houshian Embassy in Vocryae stop in front of Senator Isabella Stuart-Jones' home in Jocospor. An Imperial Marine Colonel and 5 NCOs run up to the front door and knocks. Isabella opens the door and looks relieved at seeing the Marines, "Thank Kami y'all made it here." The colonel nods, "Come on ma'am, lets get you and daughter out of here." Isabella picks up her 5 year old daughter and roll on suitcase filled with irreparable objects then order the marines to burn the house down. The marines set fire to the house and left with the 2 HVIs. They drove to the countryside where a MV-22 VTOL was waiting. Isabella and Abigail climbed on board after which it took off heading straight for the Capital of The Southern Republic of The Dixie Confederate Union while staying low enough to not be detected by radar.

To the Confederation,

Conflicting reports of the status of the Senate Building have come to my attention. I wish now to clarify the situation.

The Senators, and the President, who were killed during the operation were liquidated justifiably; all of these men fought to the bitter end, and, as a result of their successful resistance, allowed all other senators in the building at the time to escape. We have been unable to capture any other senators.

I would also like to clarify the role of the Depackyan senator in this operation: he had no idea of it, lest he babble to the Senate, by virtue of the fact that he was, according to our intelligence, a committed Ivanov loyalist. He, too, has been liquidated in the wake of the operation.

My men have planted explosives all around the Imperial Senate Building. These will be detonated upon our inevitable capitulation, and should successfully destroy large parts, if not the entirety, of the structure.

The government shall fall. Hail to the United Confederation Coalition. Hail to our future emperor.

To the Confederation,

My nation, controlled by the most traitorous scum to ever pollute our most hallowed region, has, once again, plunged us into war. For this, and for the terrible crimes committed by the Borisovian Regime, I most sincerely apologize.

Our Emperor has stepped into the light. His identity, previously unknown to the public, is revealed; he is, truly, the rightful Emperor of Jocospor, and, indeed, our whole Confederation. Those who defy his most infallible will shall be dealt with as we shall deal with Borisov: as traitors to the region, to Jocospor, and to His Supreme Majesty Emperor Agustín I. The Imperial Council, meanwhile, continues to remain safe; no harm shall befall us.

As the rightful ruler of Depackya, I encourage the many nations of the Confederation to invade my homeland, to bring these traitors to justice, and to solidify our Emperor's rightful rule over the region.

May the senators, murdered by the traitors, rest in peace. Their deaths shall not be forgotten, nor shall they go unavenged.

Major Zacharias Vorkov and his Company are assembled in an abandoned building 2 blocks from the ISB going over plans on how to retake the ISB without causing too much damage to the building. We will begin a bombing campaign of Depackya next week at the request of the The depackyan government in-exile. May the Borisovian Regime burn in hell.

Boot camp has begun today. Using VR technology and high quality robots, soldiers got the opportunity to simulate what would happen if they were in Jocospor fighting. They also went through rigorous drills including dodging bullets, mustard gas, running 10 miles without water, starving for 24 hours, etc. Anytime a minor infraction occurs, they are whipped. We want them as strong and smart as possible, so when they do go to Jocospor, they can be killing machines.

Senator Hathi has moved everything out of the Senate Halls and is in a nuclear bunker. I hope every Depackya solider is buried alive by the rubble.

THE SENATE EMERGENCY METING IS OPEN

On a secure connection, that the remaining senators will be given access to, the Ministry of the Senate requests that the Senate meet to discuss what it can do to aide the war effort. Acting-President Harry Brenfort already holds some ideas, and the Ministry of the Senate is working on legislation as well.

Screens flicker to life, displaying Acting President Brenfort in a wheelchair, with his arm in a sling, and bearing several bandages, as well as a number of small bruises and scrapes.

From the Acting President:

Due to the chaos surrounding the murder of the President, and the fact that I sustained several moderate injuries in the heinous attacks, I have unfortunately been unable to give any public address until now. The Senate is still under threat, as such, this emergency session will take place over a secure video conference.

To inform you of our current official position on recent events, Kleptocratic maniacs deeply mourns the passing of President McRain. In response to the despicable attacks, we declare war on all who oppose the Emperor Augustín, and pledge our fealty to the revealed Emperor.

I will now swear the Imperial Oath:

Forthwith, and for all my natural life henceforth, I swear I shall serve my immortal master, the Emperor of Jocospor, and His Confederation of Corrupt Dictators to the greatest extent of my faculties. I shall lead with distinction, with fortitude and with integrity. Always, I will obey the authorities that command me. Always, I will strictly adhere to Imperial Law. Always, I will strive to advance the Emperor, the Imperial Empire, the Confederation, Lex Magnus Corpus, and the principles of dictatorial government. Should I fail in these endeavours, or act seditiously, ignorantly or slothfully, I declare my regional titles forfeit and myself susceptible to just punishment. So help me.

Jax Arcanic stepped past the still smoking corpses of the Red Sword troops who had come up against him, and failed. He turned a corner and what he saw was a ruin. The Imperial Senate Building had been torn to sheds by fighting. Corpses littered the ground outside, and blood and scorch marks decorated the outside. Bullet holes punctured the walls around it. As he started to head to the front door, he saw the army. More than he could ever take on his own, for sure. This was no mere terrorist attack or revolt. This was a full-blown revolution by one who had gained the trust of those inside. A betrayal.
Suddenly a cry went up from the men stationed to garrison the building. He was spotted. Damn. He turned to head the other way, and found it was also blocked by Red Swords. A trap. He ran yet a different way, climbing a wall, as shots echoed over his shoulder. Desperately, Arcanic ran left, right, dodging and weaving in alleyways, as shots rang out all around him. He threw himself through gateways, vaulted walls and ducked inside buildings in a desperate bid to throw off his pursuers, but they always seemed just behind.
Somehow, after scaling a drainpipe, he found himself on a rooftop chase. He ran, leaping across buildings. Once or twice he nearly fell, and at this height it would kill him just as surely as a bullet would. He screeched to a halt. A dead end was ahead of him, with the next building across a busy main road, too far to jump across. He swore. Behind him, the soldiers were beginning to catch up, yelling at him to freeze and surrender himself. He thrust out a hand and a blinding flash of flame roared up in front of the men, who instinctively turned away from the intense light and heat of the fire. In that split second, he hurled himself over the edge of the building. Time seemed to slow. He could hear his heart pounding. Ba-dum. Ba-dum. Ba-dum. He was falling to fast. He wouldn’t make it. He was an idiot for even trying. His hand clawed desperately for anything, and he manage to clutch a loose piece of ivy. Just a few seconds, then it tore away and fell far far below, into the abyss. But it was enough. Jax grabbed a ledge and heaved himself onto the roof and ducked away to safety. Wisely, his pursuers did not try and follow. He knew he only had a few minutes to get away before they found another way up. He looked round determinedly.
Then a thunderous roar drew his attention. A helicopter, with the markings of the Ridnezian Aerospace Force, came down from the sky. He laughed with relief. Literally. He cackled until he was hoarse, until tears were rolling down his face. Salvation. At the most unlikely of time, from the most unlikely of sources. A loudspeaker called out:
“Lord Demon Jax Arcanic, we are here on a search and rescue operation. Climb aboard.” A rope ladder swung down from the helicopter. Jax smiled, took the rope and began to climb.

  • Understanding that there are two sides in this current armed conflict of interest within the Confederation, which are,

    1. The 'Loyalists', &

    2. The 'Traditionalists'

  • Understanding that not all nations may be militarily capable or have other matters at hoof to be able to focus and provide support in the armed conflict of interest;

  • Noting the rampant vigilantism rising among the ranks of the 'Loyalists' in which MineLegotipony finds itself within, notably from The Restored First Republic of Ridnez and The Cursed Burning Legions of Hellslayer;

According to the Imperial Ministry of the Armed Forces, the combined forces of Dragunovian and Japanese armies have been reorganized into the Grand Army of the Empire and is tasked to help liberate Jocospor. Although it will take some time to transport them through the Gate and then to Jocospite land, the Imperial War Council hopes that they'll arrive just in time to reinforce the other allied armies.

Anti-War sentiments seem to have declined since the speech made by His Imperial and Royal Majesty the Holy Dragunovian Emperor. We believe this is due to us fighting against the vile communist dogs of West Heisen. War support has been growing in the Imperial Diet as well as from the people.

Most of the Grand Army of the Empire, predominantly the Catholic Dragunovians, have been assembled in Rome and was personally blessed by His Holiness, Pope Julius IV, before they will depart through the Gate. We have received word from the War Council that they'll be announcing the declaration of war soon.

For the second time in as many days, the young woman who ruled over perhaps one of the greatest empires to ever span across the globe found herself coming to the conclusion that she would not sleep restfully. The previous night had been fraught with restlessness from the ongoing situation and the desire to simply retreat into the confines of her Palace and away from responsibilities, but that had been denied to her by both her own mind and the values imbued within her. She was to be a strong woman, as all Loreauan women were. She was meant to be THE Loreauan woman that all other women aspired to be like, the role model and the true heir to the name Viktoriya.

It had been drilled into her by the Old Man Canaris that the Germanic peoples respected strength, and despised those who displayed weakness in their ruling. As such, he had drilled it into her that he would not respect her, regardless of her social position, until she exhibited enough strength to rule, to the point that he deemed her fit to rule as his Regina, and Regina of all Loreau. And so it was in that way that the Regina learned how to keep the Germanic states, and indeed her Empire, strong and stable.

But non-existent god be damned she sometimes wished it didn't result in nearly 50 hours without a decent sleep.

The ceiling of the room she was in was excessively ornate, not that she could see it from the four posted bed upon which she lay sleeplessly. A deep crimson layer of fabric prevented her from seeing the ceiling, one that almost felt oppressive with how small it made the enormous bed feel. She had spontaneously decided to fly here seeking a better nights rest, just one or two away from the stress of her role, but alas the marvels of modern technology meant that she could essentially do everything from the Empresses Palace in Berlun, all the stresses of state included.

But regardless, the issue that had prompted her sudden relocation to one of the newer regions of the Empire still remained at the forefront of her mind. The matter of the Second civil war in the Confederation. Personally, she had not been involved in the first war, a young girl of 13 was far too busy otherwise to possibly fathom what the then Regina had been up to during that time, but she had understood that Loreau had been essential in the Naval aspect of the war. As such, it had almost become an unspoken agreement that Regna Loreau would stand by Jocospor.

And yet her nation was far from ready for such a fight.

The army was in a sorry state, and whilst well equipped and provisioned, was at the lowest mobilisation that it had been in nearly 200 years. The Royal Navy, whilst still impressively large and unchallenged on the waves, was partially in reserve and activating it would burn the massive hole in the nations pocket even larger, so this was out of the question. The Navy did still have its fleet of airships, which were capable of rapidly deploying troops and equipment across vast distances, yet were also labour intensive and required cooperation from... The air force..

The Royal Air Force was not in the best of situations internally. Whilst aircraft numbers were no issue and there were spares-a-plenty, the lack of pilots due to the aforementioned demobilisation meant that there would be a limited capacity to wage war, and any mobilisation would make the aforementioned hole a lot larger. The aircraft themselves also posed a decent issue. Many of the aircraft were reaching the upper limits of what the airframes were capable of and those newer aircraft that were soon to replace them were back in the testing phase or had only just been accepted for use, and were as such still in incredible scarcity whilst a few of the finer ergonomic kinks were worked out.

Plus any force that would be deployed to Jocospor would be through naval means, be they carriers or airships, and both had their drawbacks. Airships were good and all, but the amount of aviation fuel they carried, coupled with their aircraft complement and whatever cargo they would be carrying meant that they would not be able to support flight operations for long periods of time. They would need locally sourced supplies of fuel, which was more likely to be coming in the form of petrol from civilian vehicles, which would more benefit ground assets. The logistics was near insanity, and she had somehow ended up in control of them.

It was at times she wished she wasn't CIC of the entire armed forces.

But then there was.. a somewhat larger issue.

She could not risk open warfare, that was bad for business and would drive the nation bankrupt. Plus a declaration of war would see a sharp increase in nationalism everywhere - including states that wanted independence. But whilst nationalism could be channelled into buying war bonds, it would also mean that the people would expect to see some form of mobilisation, and that would probably negate the income of bonds.

So how to honour her duty to the Shadow Emperor?...

It had ticked that a Peacekeeper force would be useful, to show her support for peace, whilst also freeing up Jocosporian forces to fight the actual war. This much could be repeated in Heisen or Depackya if the need arose, although that had the potential to go far worse, depending on how one viewed the situation. Still, it carried the downside of being a partial mobilisation of the nation in a time where such could be frowned upon or questions asked.

Still, she had made her mind up, but it would come with some caveats. Loreau could not be seen as an aggressor nation, that would be almost a declaration of war, however an invitation to aid in Peacekeeping operations from the legitimate government would be seen more favourably by the wider Confederation. And so, it was with this on her mind that the Regina rolled over to one side of the bed and went to pick up the phone that rested on the bedside table, hesitating for a moment.

After doing this, there would be no turning back.

Regardless, her hand came down and grasped the phone, punching in the passcode that she barely even had to remember now days, her muscles inputting the code almost by themselves. Selecting a number, she raised it to her ear, the phone being answered after a single ring. The voice on the other end did not speak, and that was to be expected. Calmly and deliberately, the Regina took a breath, and said what she had planned to.

"Authorise Peacekeeping deployment, Receive affirm from Shadows Lair before initiation of Operation Helga."

"Affirm Regina."

And with that the woman hung up, set down her phone, and collapsed into bed, finally slipping into the such desired sleep.
