PRESIDENT AL-ASSAD SIGNS OFF ON NEW OIL PIPELINE
DAMASCUS — President Hafez al-Assad has recently signed off on the planned
construction of a brand new oil pipeline that will stretch 395km from the oil bastion
in Deir al-Zor all the way to the refineries in Latakia. The project is estimated to cost
approximately $1.15 billion and will be completed by Spring of 2000. The new pipeline
will add 2,000 new jobs to the economy and increase Syrian crude production by 20%.
ASSAD FIRES FINANCE MINISTER — APPOINTS MANSOUR FADLALLAH AZZAM
DAMASCUS — Upon further investigation into Finance Minister Hussein Makhlouf's activities
while in office, evidence surfaced implicating Mr. Makhlouf in several bribes and lining his
own pockets with funds from state coffers. Mr. Makhlouf will be tried for his crimes and
upon being found guilty, sentenced to death via various efficient methods. Mansour
Fadlallah Azzam will replace Mr. Makhlouf as Finance Minister effective immediately.

DAMASCUS — President Hafez al-Assad has requested a diplomatic audience with Soviet
General-Secretary Anatoly Petrov. Assad hopes that the two of them can strike hard on
mutual ground like they have in the past and make a handful of small but effect
agreements for both countries.

As Discrimination and Violence Surges, Emperor Speaks Up and Raj Embassy Torched
As violence and harassment against Christians and Zozoastrians surges in the Raj the opposition has continued to rally for action by the Government which has currently kept a tight lip on the situation. Prime Minister Roh Moo-hyun refused to answer any questions regarding the widespread harassment, with one back-bench Assembly Member dismissing it as an 'internal matter' for the Raj. The Grand National Party and Unified Progressive Party have held protests in the streets demanding that action is taken against the Raj including sanctions and boycotts by the international community, Park Geun-hye stated;
- "What we are seeing in the Raj is state-sponsered harassement and persecution of a religious minority, this is unacceptable in the modern age. People are guarenteed the right to freelly practice their chosen religion and should do so in the knowledge they will be safe and free from harm. These violations are no better than what goes on in the Warsaw Pact against minorities, it is a violent and bigoted quest for a homogeneous society led by religious and racial zealots."
A pop-up protests organised by the leader of the Christian Liberal Party, Hong Moon-jong, burned the flag of Raj and stomped it into the ground as well as burning images of it's political leaders. The protest had to broken up by riot police as a break-away group attempted to storm the embassy, although they were able to torched two cars before it was successfully broken up.
The growing scandal has caused Emperor Yi Hoon to step in and demand the Government take action against the Raj believing it to be the 'right and just thing to do', although it is rumoured that Roh is refusing to take any action as he believes India to be a key economic partner of Korea. Government sources report that the Emperor and Roh had a full blown row over the matter but neither the Prime Ministers office nor the House of Yi offered any comment on the matter.

The Council of Nine did not support the idea, as the country was at risk of being ruled by only one boy—among them Barend de Koning, Ewald Hofting and Walraven Westhuizen—Alexander Meulenbelt was never part of the Council of Nine, but he had the trust of his uncle, saying that he would guide the country to the Technological Age. Having diplomatic and economic experience, he had assisted the Council in economic and diplomatic matters; this result showed his uncle how he was able to be a Councillor.
