You're right, there is iron there. Thanks for catching that!

Fixed.

1920 - The IIRD's Mountain Facility, now in an undisclosed location in Honduras

Dr. Kelly Weaver rubbed at her head and groaned. Flashes of memory danced in front of her eyes, appearing and disappearing at random. Disoriented as such, Dr. Weaver was for a few moments unable to figure out exactly where she was.

"Dr. Weaver! Are you okay?" a Legionary stated, rushing into the experiment control booth and helping her up.

"Ohhhhhhh... my head," Dr. Weaver complained. Then her eyes snapped open, and she rushed to the controls. "Shades! What happened? The experiment..." She looked through the shattered plexiglass at the portal gate, which lay silent and unmoving.

Suddenly she kneeled as pains wracked her head. Memories swirled in her head, competing memories that fought one another for supremacy. "Shades!" she cursed again, "What in the name of science happened?"

Dr. Zelinsky rushed up. "Zere seems to have been a disturbance in the timeline," he said, his Russian voice quaking slightly. "We did something to the timeline with that last experiment, something that shattered the timelines. Time itself was in a state of flux..."

"The CEO! Where is he?" Dr. Weaver suddenly cried. "Where are Ivan and Sunset?"

"They disappeared after that weird... event," the room's centurion said. "We're searching the rest of the facility now."

"All right, all right," Dr. Weaver said, making an obvious effort to pull herself together. "All right. What do we know? Can the instruments tell us anything?" she asked.

Dr. Zelinsky looked over the control booth. "Most of the instruments are destroyed," he remarked. Then his eyes widened. "But look! The chronometer!" He began shaking.

Dr. Weaver looked, and sure enough, the chronometer read January 1st, 1920, 0010. She gasped. "Is that an error? Please tell me that's an error, doctor."

"I don't think it is," Dr. Zelinsky replied. "I told you, time itself was in a state of flux - it must have thrown us back into the past and destroyed our timeline."

"Shades," Dr. Weaver muttered.

"We're getting reports from the rest of the facility," the Centurion interjected. "Most of the scientists have disappeared, as well as several contubernae of legionaries. There is no sign of the CEO and his wife anywhere. And we have been unable to establish contact with any units outside of the facility."

Dr. Weaver sighed. "All right, people, as of right now, I am assuming command of Ivan Industries, pending confirmation of the CEO's status. Centurion, organize your teams, start scouting outside the facility. And Dr. Zelinsky, once we've re-established ourselves, I want you to work on finding out exactly what went wrong - and how we can fix it."

"Da, Madame President," Dr. Zelinsky replied.

OOC: Oy vey, re-writing factbooks, trying to decide if there's anything I can keep... Crying as I erase all the infrastructure progress of the last decade (not really crying, but it is a little sad)... Realizing I'll have to train all-new pilots....

Oh well. At least I have four more weeks or so to get it all done. :D

Wait, four weeks?

Extrapolated from Tessen's current pace. And that's not including whatever time will be needed to complete the SCA and CCA.

Don't get me wrong, he's working pretty quickly, and I'm happy with his progress. But it's a lot of work, and as you can see, three weeks of work and he's still not even done with the American West.

Grand Enclave wrote:Extrapolated from Tessen's current pace. And that's not including whatever time will be needed to complete the SCA and CCA.

Both the SCA and CCA are essentially set. I just have to do a little bit of research to completed it -- certainly not a long process. The challenging process has been the resources, since I've had to research those down to the province level. I will breathe a great sigh of relief with this is done.

More work on the resources today. At the moment, we're resource-ready up through Grand Enclave on the land claims pages, and I won't be updating the non-player nations that are currently hidden on the land claims pages. Those aren't necessary to get us roleplay-ready. I'll fill those land claims in later, as I have the time.

The only land claim I dread still, in terms of research is the massive British Caribbea. I'll have to research each of those islands individually, although, I don't anticipate that any of them will be resource-heavy.... not like the real-world USA states. Oi-vey. Man were those a pain to research!

Well, the time spent on all this research is definitely appreciated.

Finally wrote my national anthem. Rule Cascadia!

Green and blue and white unfurls,
From the Redwoods to Pacifica,
Along the Cascade Mountain Range
The Fir I stand for thee

From every class and culture,
Cascadia stands united
With the strength of Northwest patriots
Strong and free

Rule Cascadian culture!
Rule Cascadian lands!

Garden of the Americas
Of Revolution’s hand.

Is there a tune to this? I tried matching it to Rule Britannia, but was unsuccessful.

Yeah, there's a tune, but I wrote it myself being a music major and all, so I'm not borrowing from anything else.

OOC: Welp, that solves the "Well I have all this scientific advancement but want to keep the 1920's" problem.

Yes, I have way too much time to dig through the AU headquarters dispatches, why do you ask? :D

It seems that multiple "units" of a resource aren't something we have to worry about anymore. I suppose the trade and resource rules are going to look a lot different when complete, how is trade going to work?

While I like the multiple units idea, because it gives an element of quantity to the resources, it's just too complex to maintain (and a major pain to research). So, while I'm considering some alternate options for denoting resource quantity, as far as the listed resources are concerned, once you have a resource, you have access to it.

There may, however, be some ways to exhaust a resource, which may be one way we can incorporate quantity.

All the old players seem to be returning. I wonder were the Greys will play. I suggest Paraguay. Paraguay's strange dictatorship in the 1800s kinda fits in with the Greys style

Guatemala, actually. I'm just traveling this weekend, and have been unable to add the data to activate the land claim. That'll happen as soon as the new week turns over. :)
