For generations, the British navy was the envy of the few parts of the world the Empire didn't yet touch, and those that it did were proof of the impressive capabilities of the royal navy. Still, one of the top in the world, Britain has seen a decline in recent years and has lagged behind nations like 
Neo Britianna and is hoping to reassert herself as the world's leading naval power. To advance this goal, parliament has approved a bill from The King that calls for the creation of;

The stealthy hull design of the Type 054A features sloped sides and reduced superstructure for minimizing the radar cross-section. Designed primarily for anti-air warfare, the frigates are also equipped to conduct anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare missions.
The Type 054A has a length of 134m and a beam of 16m. The standard displacement is 3,600t, while the full displacement is approximately 4,000t. Each vessel can complement a crew of 165.
The Type 054A is armed with HQ-16 medium-range surface-air missiles fired from 32-cell Vertical Launch System (VLS) developed by Luoyang Electro-Optics Technology Development Center (EOTDC). The HQ-16 missile can engage aerial targets from all angles up to a range of 50km. The VLS is also expected to launch an anti-submarine missile.
The cost of one of this unit is around 212 millions.

We would like to offer the F55 class frigate to fill your Navy's request for a pair of frigates. The Armada del Reino Kommeriana uses the F55 as a air-defense frigate under the name Sable-class.
The ship's dimensions are 140 meters long, 18m abeam, and displaces 5,400 long tons with a full load. With her fore bow bulge included, her draught is 5.5 meters. She is equipped with two pairs of twin engines allowing for economical 18 knot cruising on diesel and 28 knot sprints on combined diesel and gas turbine. Running on diesel only, the F55 can cruise for 5,000 nautical miles without refueling.
Combat wise, the F55 is one of the most lethal frigates ever put to sea. The F55 is better armed than many of the world's destroyers; armed with a 48-cell vertical missile system, a 127mm naval gun, one 30mm close-in air-defense system, two quadruple harpoon anti-ship missile launchers, two 30mm chain guns, and two triple-tube 324mm torpedo launchers. The VLS is capable of firing a wide array of missiles; including land-attack cruise missiles, anti-submarine rockets, standard-2 multirole missiles, naval strike multirole missiles, Standard-6 anti-ballistic missiles, sea sparrow anti-air missiles, and evolved sea sparrow missiles, which can be quad-packed in each cell.
The F55 has a large suit of non-offensive defensive systems, as well; including the shape of the ship itself. Angled features and a clean superstructure reduce radar signature to that similar to a large fishing trawler. Additionally, she is equipped with a large battery of chaff, flare and decoy launchers to protect against missiles, and a towed decoy that simulates ship sounds for defense against homing torpedoes.
The F55 is also equipped with a powerful networked radar array that boasts a maximum range of 175nmi and can detect sea-skimming missiles up to 45nmi. A powerful bow mounted sonar is completed by a towed tactical sonar than can be launched from the aft of the ship.
F55 can also carry and launch two RHIBs and one helicopter of similar size to the MH-60.
The cost per unit of the F55, as the Armada del Reino Kommeriana uses them, is $650 million per ship. Abyssiopian Navy requirements could raise or lower that price, though.

In a landmark 376-125 vote, the special session of parliament elected to legalize nuclear energy research and the construction of nuclear power plants within the Kingdom of Kommeria and her Empire. This will be the first time since 1986 that such research will be possible in Kommeria.
With the Green Kommeria Initiative’s pushes for wind and solar farms continuing to meet resistance from both the lower nobility and common folk alike and current hydrogen production not capable of sustaining power plants; Kommeria needs a clean alternative to meet the Initiative’s goals. Modern nuclear energy offers an immense amount of clean and relatively space efficient power for a decent price. While nuclear power has be legalized, no specific design or series of designs have been adopted. The Kommerian Royal Navy, Jewel Cruise Company, and the Panama Bulk Corporation have all expressed interest in nuclear-powered ships.
All eight Dukes voted "yes," even the Duke of Honduras and the Duchess of Cuba; who were previously vehemently against nuclear power.

Peace in Jamaica?

Rioting in Kingston has largely ended, with four days of continuous peace after Lord Governor Julio Martinez deployed an additional five battalions of Territorial Guard militiamen.
Guardsmen, RJPD officers, and agents of the Imperial Inquisition continue to patrol the streets, but the curfew has been moved to 10:00pm.
While the King earlier refused to send troops to Jamaica, a battalion of Kommerian Naval Marines were deployed to Port Royal to increase security at the Naval Base and the nearby regional airport. Two rifle companies from the 75th Mobile Infantry were also deployed to the royal armory outside Montego Bay.

The Government of the Islamic Republic has again accused the government of Iraq of aiding Kurdish bandits.
A Government spokesman called on the Iraqi government to stop supporting the Kurdish AAK movement. In support of the government's position, the spokesman showed weapons taken from Kurdish arms caches.
Among them were several TAKMS assault rifles, manufactured in the former nation of 
Tamenka. These rifles, which are distinctive with their forward pistol grip and side folding wire buttstock, were known to have been bought in the tens of thousands by Iraq over the years.
The spokesman warned the Iraqi government that if they continued their support of terrorists, there would be "serious consequences."

The Western Landing Group is approaching the UCAM Campus de Cartagena, while the Eastern Landing Group is passed the Rt30-Rt32 road junction. The Central Assault Group, consisting of the 1st Division and the 44th Parachute Battle Group have reached the Avenue Victor Beltri at Casa de Clares.
The Navy has released the casualty figures from the sinking of the Heracles. Of the 220 men and women on board, 100 were killed, and 80 wounded, of which 7 have subsequently died. This is the greatest loss of life involving the Navy since the 2nd Global War.
New Device Developed for Treating Hearing Loss
Just the latest in recent advances from Britannian researchers, a new form of regaining hearing has been reported. In several instances, the tiny hairs present in the cochlea of the inner ear that enable the brain to identify electrical pulses as sounds are broken. This can lead to hearing loss. As a measure taken toward a sophisticated artificial cochlea, scientists in the ACS Nano journal describe a conductive membrane, which has the ability to translate sound waves into matching electrical signals while being implanted within a model ear. This needs no external power.
While the functioning of hair cells present inside the inner ear stop, there is no way to revoke the damage. At present, treatment is confined to cochlear implants or hearing aids. However, such devices need external power sources and can have trouble amplifying speech appropriately so that it is comprehended by the user.
One potential solution is to simulate healthy cochlear hairs, transforming noise into the electrical signals processed by the brain as noticeable sounds. To achieve this, previous scientists have attempted to use self-powered piezoelectric materials, which get charged when they are compressed by the pressure that follows sound waves, and triboelectric materials, which generate friction and static electricity when moved by such waves.
But the devices are not simple to make and do not generate sufficient signals throughout the frequencies included in human speech. Hence, Yunming Wang and collaborators wished for an easy method to fabricate a material that utilized both friction and compression for an acoustic sensing device with high sensitivity and efficiency throughout a wide range of audio frequencies.
To make a piezo-triboelectric material, the scientists blended barium titanate nanoparticles coated with silicon dioxide into a conductive polymer, which they dried into a thin, flexible film. They eliminated the silicon dioxide shells with an alkaline solution.
This step left out a sponge-like membrane with spaces near the nanoparticles, enabling them to jostle about when hit by sound waves. In tests, the scientists demonstrated that contact between the nanoparticles and polymer raised the electrical output of the membrane by 55% compared to the pristine polymer.
When the membrane was wedged between two thin metal grids, the acoustic sensing device generated an optimum electrical signal at 170 Hz, a frequency within the range of the majority of the adult’s voices. Ultimately, the scientists implanted the device within a model ear and played a music file.
The electrical output was recorded by the researchers and converted into a new audio file, which exhibited a strong similarity to the original version. The scientists say their self-powered device is sensitive to the extensive acoustic range required to hear most sounds and voices.
The researchers acknowledge financial support from the General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of Maryland and as usual, support from the Imperial Family.

She sat at the corner booth in the little sports bar in the middle of Kingston, nursing her second beer as two of her contacts spoke quietly in Jamaican Patois among themselves. She could understand them, of course, but she wasn’t about to let them know that.
The tall one, Teddy, was angry at her; which wasn’t all that uncommon. The would-be insurgent was annoyed that her employers refused to send special forces to Jamaica to fight the Kommerian military. He was upset that the pallets of weapons promised by her employer had yet to materialize. He was terrified that the Imperial Inquisition had arrested one of their colleagues, Michael Smith.
The stockier one, Winston, just looked bored.
"What do we even need the Southerners for if they aren't going to help us," Teddy snapped, still speaking Patois to Winston. He didn't seem to notice that he'd used the Kommerian term for Colombians, even in the rural Jamaican language.
"Money," Winston responded with a shrug, "they don't supply us weapons, so we need their money to purchase some of our own."
Movement from the front of the bar caught her attention as four territorial guardsmen entered and took a table by the front windows. The guardsmen chatted amongst themselves as the waitress approached with her notepad to take their orders.
Neither Teddy nor Winston, still quietly arguing over their treason, noticed that a team of soldiers had walked into the room.
“So what are your people going to do now that the protests have been dispersed?” Teddy asked in English, jabbing an accusing finger at her, “we’ve lost the momentum we had because of their dilly-dallying.”
She gave him back one of her blank glares, “there are things bigger than you in motion here. If your little band of idiots didn’t attack that police station, we could be moving much faster. We can’t just pull a ship into Kingston harbor and drop you off a dozen tanks.”
“But we were taking the fight to the Kommies!” Teddy snarled, “we were...”
“You were screaming at cops and waving signs in their faces, you goddamn idiot,” she snapped back, “you got a dozen civilians and three police officers killed and have nothing to show for it! Now shut up and wait.”
“Wait for what?” Winston asked.
“This,” she said, nodding gently to the approaching waiter.
“From the young man by the window,” the waiter said as he set a glass of clear liquor on the table and pushed it over to her.
“Did he say anything?” She asked.
“He didn’t give me a message if that’s what you’re asking,” the waiter shrugged, “he just asked me to get the ‘pretty Southerner in the back’ a neat aguardiente.”
As the waiter walked off, the Gran Colombian agent looked back to the front of the bar to see one of the soldiers lift his beer with a grin. She returned the salute and took a sip of the anise-flavored drink.
The two Jamaican insurgents stared at her, only just noticing the guardsmen for the first time. The worry they felt was clearly written on their faces.
“As you two were smashing up shops and police cars, I was reaching out to a contact that would actually make a difference here,” she said, taking another sip of the drink, “he told me that he’d have one of his men buy me an aguardiente to signal that he is ready to go. A Vodka would be a signal that he isn’t ready, and a Brittiannan bourbon would be bad news.”
“But... that man is a territorial guardsman...” Winston began, trailing off as the implication hit him.
“Colonel Eithan Williams, the commander of the Royal Jamaican Territorial Guard is with us.”

United becomes first U.S. airline to sign aircraft purchase agreement with Boom Supersonic
It has long been the dream of many around the Union and world at large for safe and fast supersonic travel. The Britannian Air Force already makes use of supersonic strike bombers, this much is known. And though there are limited passenger planes in service that are supersonic, no one air liner provider has taken the next step to truly embrace supersonic travel. That has now changed. Today, United has announced it purchase 15 of Boom Supersonic's Overture’ airliners, once Overture meets United’s demanding safety, operating and sustainability requirements, with an option for 35 more aircraft. Slated to carry passengers in 2029, the net-zero carbon aircraft will fly on 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Through innovation and collaboration, United and Boom are realizing a shared mission to connect the world safely and sustainably. At speeds twice as fast as today’s passenger jets, United’s new Overture fleet will open countless possibilities for new experiences and human connection.
The first plane is expected to roll out by 2025 and take flight the following year, with, as stated, full passenger flights before the end of the decade. United CEO John Fuller had this to say:
“United continues on its trajectory to build a more innovative, sustainable airline and today’s advancements in technology are making it more viable for that to include supersonic planes. Boom’s vision for the future of commercial aviation, combined with the industry’s most robust route network in the world, will give business and leisure travelers access to a stellar flight experience.
