Iím sorry for my inactivity. I do believe that I am not worthy of the role of High Oracle. Unfortunately, I have fallen out of interest in the game. I am contemplating quitting NationStates. Iím sorry for everything. I hope Abydos prospers after I am gone.

Qon, Alvthenia, and Zosar

I would hate to see this region crumble like so many other regions have.

I'm new to nationstates so please excuse me if I don't look like I know what I'm doing. I was having a browse through the regions and I've decided to make my home here, I hope that's alright...

I see that I need to join the world assembly to become a citizen. Can I just ask what the purpose of the assembly is in the citizenship process?.

I have no quarrel with applying to join I would just like to know more about the institution.

Thanks,
Zosar

We have citizens join the WA for one main purpose, to insure that you as a player arent using multiple nations in the region for the purpose of voting for yourself. As all players can have only one WA, we use the game rules to help insure that elections and such arent rigged. That is really about it, personally I find the WA useless as an institution.

The aim is to be part of the solution.

As each of you operate your political parties independently, what I need to know, before we begin is do you want those parties to transfer over to the three state default parties, or will you keep them independent? Zart, I know we discussed this previouy, but as you jave slept on it, I just want to make sure before I set some things up.

Yes, I apologize for not answering sooner but Iíve been very busy with my classwork.
Thanks

I'm a fairly experienced NS player. I recently just left a region full of @$$holes, and wanted a fresh start with a new nation. It was a heavy raider region, and that was fun and all, but there was a lot of drama that went down and I would rather not talk about it. Anyway, I got Zyris' telegram when I booted up my new nation this morning, and decided I liked the sound of the region. I hope you guys will embrace me with open arms.

Sorry for my recently inactivty which I really can't justify.

Welcome.

You have raiding experience, jumping and all that?

Anyway, your app is approved.

Yeah, my last region was a raider region, I was mostly involved in recon missions though; finding potential targets, infiltration, and all that good nonsense. I'm looking forward to bringing my skills to a new region who might actually appreciate the effort lol.

Interesting. Abydos is very much a region that is in a state of change at the moment. We do have the Defense Guild though which is our military wing of things.

After the changes how long do you think it will be before the region has a government the way it was designed in the constitution?

Zosar wrote:After the changes how long do you think it will be before the region has a government the way it was designed in the constitution?

That depends on the people, if they take on government positions, rather quickly. There is a lot of positions open, yet noone has yet inquired on any of them. So that means, Ill have to continue to recruit, cycling through until we find people interested in playing the game. The region needs 3 scribes and a High Priest and Grand Luxarch to function at minimum. That is 5 players who care and want to participate. Fortunately, our newer nations seem quite proactive. By law, a State of Emergency ends when the conclave has 3 scribes present.

Why are their so many inactive nations in the region? It looks like you guys have a serious overturn of nations moving here, never engaging, then dying out. I would say you should make a region wide telegram threatening to eject any nation who does not make a post on the RMB within the next week. That will ensure you only have nations and players who give a darn, not just puppets and people looking to put an old nation out to pasture.

Start from low numbers and start recruiting again and make it clear that you only want active players to join the region. You'll have smaller numbers, but you'll have a better quality of citizenry. It would be like deporting people who don't pay their taxes; a bit extreme, but effective.

Qon and Zosar

Well when I joined I had a read through the constitution and the role of scribe did strike me as rather interesting. Starting off in the legislature and helping bring Abydos back from this state of emergency would be an excellent way to start my time in Abydos...

If we have elections Iíd happily put my name forward and campaign to get in that position.

Id almost have to agree here. Quality is far better than quantity. Historically though, a region can expect about 10% of a recruited population to remain active.

I say go for it. Give the people a chance and if they don't take up on that chance what good are they to us?
