If we think of a question we would send them to whoever is incharge of the questions.

How ambitious are you feeling? I could help with that idea, which I love by the way, but we also need a cartographer and recruiters. There are tools already available if you're interested and saying no is perfectly fine. Just watch.

Hey region-mates of the past ten years.... any of you want to recruit or be our cartographer?

* crickets. *

If anyone here was interested, they'd be doing it already.

We're looking for people with ideas and drive just like you. If you're interested and have the time, that is?

Daily cartoons have been added to the WFE just in case you need some humour everyone.

So why do we need a cartographer and recruiters now?
For the questions I'm not sure where they would be posted but if I can help let me know how. I do have a couple questions that could be asked to start this but I will run out in just a few weeks.

We actually do have active roleplayers which are just sleepy at the moment. Once I start recruiting again we'll see more active roleplayers join and the Cartographer will be in charge of the regional roleplay maps. It's a system already in place but I'm not doing anything with it at the moment. It's really a future position that will get filled at some point. Here's a small example of how it would work.

http://www.nstrackers.net/areaMappingExample.php

All registered members of Tamkurk already possess the control to add area coordinates to their own national map which you can see transforms a static image into an interactive library of sorts. Later on, I intend to allow for chaining of maps where area coordinates will open new maps.

As for recruiters, Freeoplis is our Ambassador who, unless he's changed his mind, will be in charge of our promotion team which first needs to be built. I have it in mind that recruiting will be left to me in the beginning until new players arrive and show an interest. One has to remember that the players you see here today have been here for ages and have grown tired of NS activities. I don't blame them for it but the fact remains that I'll be looking to fill old positions with newer players if no one here steps up. And they know it only too well which is why I don't mention it that often. That's not a threat towards anyone in particular. It's a guarantee that I intend to restore Absolution to where it truly belongs after I finish building Tamkurk. We spent over five years as one of the largest regions in NS. Twice being the largest. I promised everyone here that we shall be again and I have a reputation for keeping my word.

http://www.nstrackers.net/images/1300_nations.jpg

Our regional forum has an interface tool that allows recruiters to easily accomplish their task.

Now, I know you hadn't asked me to but I assembled a small template that could house a Question of the Week feature. It could be posted to the WFE above to allow members to use it at their discretion. It's an idea.

http://www.nstrackers.net/qotw.php

It has its own separate Tamkurk login/registration system that doesn't take you away from the feature and I haven't hidden the admin controls yet just so you can see how it would work. The database tables have been created and it's good to go for anyone interested in taking it on as the administrator. I like the idea so much that if no one is willing, I'll add it to my list of responsibilities and tend to it myself down the road. The add new question form is only for show at this point.

Sounds good. I've only been on NS for a bit over two years.

I like that. ^

So how many people are active in the region? (Not just answering issues)

That varies from week to week. Though it's never been said to me, a lot of the current members remain here because no one asks anything of them. They've also been here for years, remember the days when we were huge and remain loyal to this community.

There are a number of nomadic Absolutionist that come and go as well. Both of our officials are active along with a handful of members that post when they have something to say. I'm looking forward to the day when there are a lot more active members here all looking for activities to engage in.

I'll probably be downsizing my own activity levels over the coming weeks. I'm moving back to Western Canada in April and need to prepare. I'll be here everyday but I won't be developing things at the same rate as I am right now.

I love asking questions, but if it's to help stimulate activity on the RMB ... would it not make sense to just ask it on the RMB?? It would be like an informal game maybe??

Thekingofopressedpeople

As people have pointed out in the past, anonymous polls put people more at ease with certain topics. I don't believe most people want to step into the light and have everyone around see their true and honest opinions. It tends to bring drama their way which they don't want. Or at least that's the impression I get. The only thing I've seen stimulate activity around here on our RMB is the zombie apocalypse thing. I like the idea because it doesn't get lost if and when our rmb does get busy. It's front and center, posted to the WFE. I guess we could call it window dressing but it's something different and putting our own spin on it might make it interesting.

Having questions put to the RMB is also great but I'm not certain the goal is just RMB activity but regional activity overall. It is definitely the first reasonable idea thrown my way in a considerable amount of time. I've been asking for years and haven't really received any replies. Is it a big thing? No, but it is in line with everything else we do. Isn't it?

The problem with coming up with questions is remedied by using Google. Many sites run questions and I wouldn't doubt there are generators out there even. Trying to come up with our own questions might be draining and there are no laws concerning poaching questions. At least, I hope their aren't. >_>

So the daily cartoon page I posted yesterday has been merged into another page that houses all the little things we've either collected or created over the past ten yeas.

http://www.nstrackers.net/xtrafeatures.php

Included:

• Government category descriptions
• The political map
• Freedoms list
• Outcome and name generators
• Six-Sided and Dnd Dice
• Scientific, investment, inflation, temperature and exchange calculators
• The NewYorker, BBC and CNN news feeds
• Daily cartoons and horoscopes
• Regional arcade
• World clocks
• Periodic table

You might thing, as I once did, are they necessary? I've had too many players inform me that they're glad the toolbox is there. You don't need it until you need it suddenly they tell me. Finally, we have it all under one umbrella which is kind of cool, I guess.

I'd really like someone to try the arcade and let me know if you get the same 'couldn't load plugin' message. I don't know if it's my computer or something happening all over the web. I can't seem to get flash to play anywhere and it's making me go hmmmmmm.

Now that I think of it, one thing that has always started a wave on the RMB is when members post their rankings in the daily census. I'm number eleven for most primitive. I'm not too certain I like being eleven. That's one of those categories I don't mind being stuck in the back on, you know?

Effulgnce and Thekingofopressedpeople

Yes, when things come together it is going to be great. As far as role playing, the field is there. It always has been, and probably always will be, it just needs somebody to come along and get the ball rolling. What to do with it? How to go about using it? I don't really know. In all, I had figured in some way that everybody could jump in at any point, partaking as a leading representative of their nation if not their foreign leader and say whatever it is they are feeling. Perhaps there is a vote in their home nation (or for some, on their home world) that is giving them a bit of heart burn and they confide in another member of our region to see what their take would be.

Or perhaps two military powerhouses, after years of build up and rattling sabers, go toe to toe in a knock down drag out fight to settle the score. Hm, maybe that's a little too hot. Ooh, what about international intrigue? A cold war of sorts where intelligence assets can be considered weapons of mass destruction? Too grandiose? Yeah, maybe, but they are just ideas. I am sure we have plenty of ideas floating out there.

As far as maps, I jumped right on that as soon as I had noticed the feature was available. Spent a few days working on it, but once it was finished I posted it. Of course since it seems my nation is slowly shifting to space faring, it might be time to update. Not sure. As always, it is a work in progress.

Here's a few questions about the region. The first two are about the character of Assorro. Yes, it's a character and I've stated both answers many, many times. Back when I started there were a lot of character nations. They appear gone much like the Buffalo it would seem. I stopped playing the character a while ago when I discovered some people didn't know how to take him and I found myself having to explain constantly that it's just a character and not to be taken seriously.

1) How tall do I claim Assorro to be?
2) Assorro is a _________-Pirate.
3) What are the call letters to our regional radio?
4) Who's the reporter for the radio?
5) Who and What is Iggy the Madman?

The flash game thing appears to be happening with chrome on my system. I installed a fresh version of windows the other day and that might have something to do with it though I thought chrome came with flash installed? MS Edge had no issues playing the files.

I was able to play the space invaders game in Chrome without any issues at all.

Good points all. It can't hurt to have things well organized at any rate.

I can't seem to crack the top ten for Most Beautiful Environments. What a sham! Everybody knows Effulgnce is the most beautiful place around... or at least top 5.. Man, I can't catch a break around here!

In the other region I was a part of it worked really well and a few people did become more active during that time. I am 37 in environmental beauty. That's too high.

Here's what happens when you leave me on my own. I start merging things.

The moment I rose this morning I had it in mind to merge the polls, QOTW and the xtraFeature pages together to make a portal. You might remember me mentioning a portal page a year ago. Now it's a reality. All these things are just widgets really. It's cool to have separate pages but after a while it starts to get a bit disorganized.

Some of you might remember the Did You Know feature on our old board? It's in there with only a handful of selections at the moment but it randomizes with every page refresh. The QOTW has been included but it uses choices such as Pespi or Coke which is an idea I got from our spam forum. It allows any player that is logged into Tamkurk to vote at the moment so let me know if you'd like that to be region exclusive. Each member has one vote that can not be changed. I still like the QOTW idea and plan to revisit it in the near future as an anonymous questionnaire. The current widget should probably have its title changed to This or That.

I was going to throw the regional information stuff in there as well but believe it's the kind of thing that needs to be keep separate. Now our WFE is cleaner and as more things get rolled-out I'll find a place for them as well.

I believe it was 4 feet 4 inches.
Hippy, I think, is the only word I remember you taging on to the usual Pirate.
CJBQ. Always reminded me of Dairy Queen. Don't ask.
He's a menace/unofficial mascot for the AIA/regional outlaw.

Someone give that lady a Daniel Webster cigar, even though she doesn't smoke.

Character nations used to be everywhere. Now, we rarely see them at all.

Much expanded Flash Arcade

There's now close to 2,000 games to choose from in ten different categories. It's only for PC being that it's flash but I have played around with some HTML5 games as well though to be honest, most HTML5 games I've seen are browser intensive. Let me know. The old flash arcade from the Pub is still listed in the Portal. Now all I have to do is organize the links better.

Some of you remember The Absolutionist, our regional newspaper. Only two members dared to take on the challenge and both Literya and Adauchi did fantastic jobs putting together pages that was both time consuming and frustrating for them to build. I've always intended to restore the newspaper but only if I could find a way of seriously cutting down the work load any editor would have to put into it. I think this might be it.

If accepted, we have several directions we could take it. The Absolutionist is a regional paper but with the development of Tamkurk it could easily be made available to other members of the site. Each account for instance or even regions. Possibilities.

It's not responsive right now and I'd have some work to do to merge our existing member base with this application. To allow separate registrations is just asking for spam-bots to attack it and shut it down like they did with WikiAbsolution. Oh, if we'd only had Tamkurk then.

Tamkurk doesn't get hit by nasty web-crawlers because it first requires a search for your physical nation. Spam-bots can't get past that fact which I love.

I pinched some articles online to give it some content. If there's anyone interested, let me know.
