I keep getting interesting concepts I shouldn't be doing...

Since I guess we're going with the Kuomintang winning in China, but the USSR invaded Japanese Manchuria, an interesting concept could be Manchukuo remaining independent as a communist puppet of the USSR...

Got some ideas down for Byelorutenija today, I'm going to try and work on them tomorrow after work.

While doing research on the Soviet Union, I learned that apparently the hotline between Washington and Moscow wasn't ever actually a telephone line, but was other forms of telecommunication such as fax machines and today a secure email link.

"FAX THEM OUR DEMANDS!"

Basically, yeah. The whole "red telephone directly to the Kremlin" is complete fiction.

I'm just imagining a plot where York discovers Russian spambots while browsing Reddit and then emailing the Soviet premier about it.

Just to discover it was the Chinese all along.

This is now canon.

Okay, I promise this is my final revision, at least for a long time. It's finally pretty satisfactory to me.

Notable changes:
- I tried to use more natural boundaries than the current western borders, you'll notice that Arizona and New Mexico are much more irregular.
- New Mexico and Arizona are loosely based upon the old Mexican provinces prior to the Mexican Cession, Texas too.
- Gadsden adds a small tail, will be founded in 2013 as a reaction to the southern border.
- I removed Sonora, Baja California, and "Winfield" as I wanted to parse back the cession to a more realistic parcel while also maintaining the more imperialistic vision of the United States. That being said, Rio Grande will now be joined to the United States similarly to Texas versus as a formal part of the Cession.
- A new line across the New Mexican southern-most border makes it more tidy.
- Missouri has been split into Missouri and a new state called North Bank. The history behind this is going to be a mini-civil war within the Civil War in Missouri, in which the southern half sides with the Confederacy and the the North occupies the northern portion, north of the Missouri River, as well as St. Louis. The Union would eventually take the rest of Missouri, but the area that initially remained loyal to the Union was colloquially known as the 'north bank' due to the division by the Missouri River, the idea being that the name stuck after the war. The state was formally split in the same fashion as West Virginia/Virginia.
- 'Liberty' has been shrunk, Douglass and Liberty remain "reparation" states, as majority African-American states given to freedmen after the Civil War.
- Wyoming is Yellowstone now because I hate the name Wyoming.
- Most of the other small border changes remain (the delmarva peninsula belongs to Maryland, for example)
- A new state is formed out of the space between the Rio Grande and Neuces as a part of the idea that Texas could split itself into several state if it so chose.
- Samoa is no longer a state.
- Improvements to script for a more aesthetically-pleasing experience.

I need to do something like this with the Soviet Union and its constituent republics. Part of me is considering fusing Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan into the SSR of Turkestan.

Feel like I've seen this before.

Maybe if Washington keeps ignoring the issue we can keep stringing together shootings like a god damn street fighter combo.

Also, ignoring?

The White House is now causing the issue.

It inspired a crazy person to mail improvised explosives to members if the opposition party.

And now the FBI is investigating the El Paso shooting as a domestic terrorism case because the madman had a full-fledge manifesto against immigrants and drove nine hours to murder people of color.

This puts me in a really weird place of liking firearms and wanting to own my own, but also wanting to stand for heavy federal regulation of ownership.

I still don’t know why the hell Dalius decided to do this sh*t so early in the morning,” he complained, sending a rock shooting down the largely empty street with his boot as he trudged along. “I mean honestly, it’s cold and obviously the policija are going to looking for trouble this time of night.

Digging his hands even deeper into the pockets of his jacket as he and the remainder of his trio made quick work of the side street they were on before turning onto one of the larger roads in the city, sticking to the sides of the walkway as they went. A shiver ran up his spine as the cold continued to dig through his clothing and he let out another curse under his breath, met with the chuckles of the other two.

Cuffing the shivering teen upside the back of his head, the tallest of the group smirked in his direction, “Karo, if you spent half as much time walking as you did b*tching we might have already gotten there and been out of this damn weather, kalė.

F*ck you Žyg,” Karo said as they turned once more onto another side street - more an alley by size and appearance given the flickering of the lamps and pockmarked pavement. Brushing the back of mohawk back into shape, Karo quickly jammed the appendage back into his pocket as to escape the cold. “And stop screwing with my hair, sh*t takes too long as it is to get into place.

Žyg let out a dismissive breath and gave a quick kick to Karo’s ass with his boot, “You b*tch like a woman. I might actually have to start calling you Karolina if you keep it up.

He was quickly silenced with a sharp kick to the back of his calf by their, up until then, silent third companion, “Careful or I might take offense to that, asshole.

Žyg gave his leg a shake as he turned to give her a look, “Uli you know I don’t mean it babe, he just won’t stop complaining.

Letting out a sigh of her own, Uli shook her head and immediately brushed the strands of hair that dropped into her face from the motion back into their place. Speeding on past Žyg she took her place to Karo’s left and put a hand on his shoulder, “Don’t worry Karo, he spends just as much time trying to look all pretty for the boys as he does coming up with his sh*t one-liners.

Žyg let out an offended noise but was quickly silenced by another look from Uli who turned quickly turned back down the alley and continued on. Karo and Žyg shared a look before hurrying to catch up with her as the three rounded another corner and stomped their way down a set of concrete stairs attached to the back of an old brick warehouse of some sort. Giving the door a quick rap with the heel of her boot, Uli turned and stood on her toes to look through judas hole just as it was pulled open.

What do you want,” rasped the man behind the door.

Shut the f*ck up and let us in old man, you know why we’re here,” said Uli as she gave another sharp rap to the door before glaring up at him. The man stared down at her for a few more moments before shaking his head and slamming the judas hole shut. There were a series of clicks and rattles, followed by the sound of rusted metal scraping against rusted metal, before the door was yanked open and they were ushered in by the now revealed middle-aged man. The door slammed behind them as they grouped together in the entrance, taking stock of the scene before them.

A small crowd of people, maybe a couple of hundred at most, milled about the floor of the tiny room drinking or smoking, filling the air with a layer of smoke that threatened to choke out the lamps that were overhead. Most of them, dressed as the trio was in leather jackets, jeans, boots and with a wide variety of spiked and colorful hairstyles, made the entire scene look like some sort of weird cult gathering. Around the edges of the room small throngs of people gathered in the shadows, talking or trying their best to slyly pass around whatever illicit substance was there that day.

The three new arrivals, pushed forward out of the entrance area by the doorman, made their way into the crowd, weaving in and out of the already assembled masses. After a few minutes of dodging around people they found themselves at the front of the crowd, looking up on a small stage filled with speakers, microphones and a set of drums set towards the back. The back wall was a mish-mash of graffiti, posters of state-propaganda with slurs and offensive images scribbled over their surface and a few band posters stapled sparingly throughout the mess. Hanging in front of it from the rafters, worn and fraying around the edges, was a single yellow, green and red flag.

Laying a hand on Karo and Uli’s shoulders, Žyg was the first to speak, “I think the cold was worth it.

Karo rolled his eyes, an action mirrored by Uli, before smiling up at him, “Okay fine, I’ll stop bitching as much.” Žyg and Uli laughed before patting him on the shoulders; this was definitely going to be fun.

So still no RP tonight (in part because I didn’t even leave the office until 7) but I’m starting to get some things brewing so I think I might have some rp inbound soon.

Knock on wood of course, but you know.

Oof boys I bought a computer and let me tell you I don't know why I didn't do it sooner.

Next step on my ascension is to build one down the road. But this is a good starting point.
