During the last week, the Executive Council passed the biggest amendment to the Democratikan Constitution to date. The Constitution is now a whopping 11 sections long, and has redefined many of the region's most important political processes.
The new Constitution has formalized the name of the Legislative Council and has created a new and unique branch of the Democratikan Government, the Oversight Council. The Oversight Council is comprised of the three founders, as well as any other senior Democratikans called upon to serve. The Oversight Council is essentially the highest constitutional authority, the anti-corruption agency, as well as the electoral commission combined into one. Its primary role, as the name suggests, is to oversee government processes and make sure everything being conducted is perfectly halal and kosher.
Perhaps one of the most controversial clauses of the new Constitution would be Section 5, Clause 9, which gives the Executive Council the power to suspend the Legislative Council through unanimous vote for a month if "it would be ineffective and inefficient for the region to have a dedicated legislature". This has been one of the main topics of discussion in the Executive Council chambers as of late, and although some, like General Executive Councillor Urrangslan believes that the Legislative Council needs to be implemented immediately, others like Minister of Regional Security Confedracy believe the time is not yet ripe.
