Asigna ceased to exist just right when I found out that he is a believer now.

I would rather define history from the perspective of the masses than from its leaders. :)

Most of the masses, hereby laymen are ignorant of what their history is. I rather rely on books and historian references.

Both the masses and the elite constitute elements of history. However, more than people, the geographical setting, the evolution of language, the interconnection of cultures, et cetera also defines history. Of course, that is only for me.

In the case of the historical WW2 in which the allies depicted the axis are the antagonist, whom shall we believe? The allied propaganda? Comspiracies from the masses? Nazi germany? Or the compilation of various historical documents and references that provides perspectives from all sides.

I believe the people are the least educated when it comes to history. Notably Filipinos dont know the origin of christmas culture from Roman saturnalia to pagan pine tree decos. They dont bother just because. Why rely on that principle?

My point exactly. There are many versions of history, versions that contradict each other as they were written by people, and groups of people who see themselves as the protagonists in their own versions.

The question is, are we on the correct side of history?

Already, attempts are being made to revise our history and its retelling by putting the Marcos regime on a more positive light, disregarding its atrocities. This, of course, in replacement on the dominant mainstreaming 'yellow' version with the Aquinos as the 'heroes'.

We fail to realize that both versions are just two ways to tell history based on ruling class interests with them on top; the interest of workers, farmers, and the middle class used as a chess piece to legitimize their narratives, and conveniently disregard it whenever it runs counter to their own, which is more often than not, always. That considering that this 'democracy' is suppose to constituted the workers, farmers, and middle class as the bulk of the population.

Free college tuition, free medicines, increase in social welfare via SSS, genuine land reform. These have been proven to be possible under the Duterte administration. Why were these never done by the previous regimes? Because it runs counter to their interests.

Too many challenges still remain with the current administration, but its moves to improve the social well-being of the Filipinos is a challenge to all to rethink how we view history.

Just a question: Would there be severe repercussions if history were to be revised? Surely, something, somewhere would go wrong if the truth would go out, right?

History does not change. The question there is whose version, whose side should we put more value with.

If one is already benefiting from the status quo, then a change in perspective will be detrimental, as it challenges one's power base. One will pull all strings and fight tooth and nail, just to retain the status quo.

If on the other hand one has been marginalized by the current status quo, any change that bears a promise of emancipation will be a welcome one. "We have nothing to lose but our chains," as per Marx.

Radicalization is the result of the intensified contradictions between the ruling class and the ruled, with the former doing whatever it can to supress the legitimate demands of the people, milking it for resources, and using it to legitimize its position via elections, while factions within the ruling class themselves engage in opportunistic battles of attrition against each other.

Hello, I'm the revamped National socialist philippines, puppet of Emperyo. It's really a coincidence on how this nation was created a few days after Asigna left this region..

Not sure about Asigna. It's interesting on how he'd suddenly leave. I remember when he'd ask my main nation (Emperyo) to help out when the region got attacked. He really cares about the Philippines region

Vesilen island

Sorry about my apathy, but do any of you know what happened to Asigna?

I'm a history major.. And history are for the victors... Whoever losed was demonized. At some angle history is very subjective.

Hitler will be regarded as a historical figure who provided contributions (whatever it is) in the future if our present time shifts leaning to the racial radical ideologies, same as Napoleon whom was demonized by the coalition states.

Also, it's about time Puan finally came back. Welcome!
