The Antarctic Imperium is a nationalistic state encompassing the entire continent of Antarctica, much of Patagonia, as well as some islands in the southern hemisphere.
The nation succeeded the neutral small Antarctic Imperium after Robotoxite settlers overthrew the weak government run by the Antarctic Aboriginals, due to Robotoxite superior technology. It borders two countries, those being Imperial Chile and the State of Argentaria, and is listed officially as an emerging superpower.
History
After the setting up of this new regime they declared their independence from the Robotox Empire, which responded with the demand that all Robotoxite age technology was to be returned to the Robotox Empire. In exchange the Robotoxite Antarcticans were given tech on par with those of Earth 2.0. Soon after this, the national assembly was set up and the capital was made Nova Alderaan, a city along the northern coasts of Antarctica.
As time went on, they experienced a population, manufacturing, and economic boom as well as a rise in Antarctic nationalism coinciding with the rise of the National Antarctic Faction or NAF in the national assembly. Along with newfound nationalist domination in the national assembly, the emperor, Valkan'ar was named Eternal Emperor of the Eternal Antarctic Throne, and he became a member of the NAF. This nationalism caused an alliance to be formed with the Hydra German government which was desperately at the time in need of allies. When Germany sent troops to Iceland to defend it from Scandinavian invasion, they called upon Antarctica to aid in the north and for the duration of the war, the Antarctic military saw minimal fighting with most of their efforts being bombing.
At the end of the Icelandic war, despite the League's terms in Article 5, that if one nation is attacked, all go to war, Antarctica refused to aid Germany during the frozen war, instead opting for humanitarian aid in the area of the conflict. The Antarcticans continued to follow this trend of humanitarian aid, sending aid to Yugoslavia, during the invasions by Italy and the Soviets, and in Japan from a soviet bombing campaign. This humanitarian aid didn't come at the cost of militarisation though. In both Yugoslavia and in Poland, they used their humanitarian aid missions as excuses to test out new technology such as the robot hounds tested in Yugoslavia, and the laser fencing defence, sent to Germany to use just before the first fighting of the Frozen War. The Antarctic Imperium later went to war with the New Argentine Republic, over an accusation of the Argentines bombing the Antarctic city of Halley, starting with a blockade, and then a full scale invasion of Argentina, ending in a decisive Antarctic Victory, the annexation of Argentine Patagonia, and the founding of the State of Argentaria. Since then the Antarctic Imperium began to focus more on the League which went under their control with the leader of the league being former Antarctic Ambassador, Sham Vondar.
Geography
The Antarctic Imperium is a mountainous country overall, as well as exceptionally cold on the mainland, seeing more usual temperatures in Patagonia. Its biodiversity has increased exponentially due to the Antarctic government as well as a higher base biodiversity thanks to the Robotoxite forebuilders of Earth 2.o. Most creatures are specially suited for the extreme colds of Antarctica. This also goes for a smaller but still existent amount of plants which take advantage of long periods of Antarctic sunlight and the few clouds covering up the sky, causing Antarctic Evergreens to invest in chlorophyll.
Political
The Antarctic Imperium is officially a Unitary Semi-Constitutional Monarchical Republic, meaning that there is a monarch who balances power with the legislature. In effect this makes the Emperor the Executive Branch of the Antarctic government. The Eternal Emperor of Antarctica is Valkan’ar who has been the only reigning monarch so far. His son, Vodaka’an is set to succeed him if he were to resign or die. The Legislature is the Antarctic National Assembly which has a total of 679 seats proportionally based on population of the 17 Antarctic Prefectures. The National Antarctic Faction currently dominated the National Assembly with 355 seats, over half, followed by the Antarctic Democratic Union with 135 seats, the Centralist Party with 63 seats, the Labour Party with 54 seats, the Communist Faction of Antarctica with 43 seats, and the Antarctic Aboriginal Faction with 29 seats. As of now the NAF has been allowed to use personal security troops due to the Citadel Square Insurrection. The National Assembly is able to elect a prime minister from amongst themselves. The Antarctic Imperium internationally tries to keep a look of a neutral stance caring for humanitarian efforts over military force, founding the Antarctic Teal Cross formerly the Blue Cross) to do so. They especially keep relations with members of the League of Superior Sovereignty but also try to keep good relations with most nations around the world.
Military
The Antarctic Military has set a military doctrine of tech over numbers in war, investing on military tech research instead of attempting to rely on Antarctica’s relatively smaller population. This advancement of military tech was also done by the same government organisation developing tech for individuals and companies. Their tech has only been increasing in its ability and they regularly test military tech in real battlefields, most recently in the Antarctic-Argentine War. Because of their tech advantage and still having a large amount of troops in the military, it is in the top 10 strongest militaries in Earth 2.0.
Economy
Economically the Antarctic Imperium exports large amounts of raw materials and the Antarctic government has tried to export more manufactured goods as well. Their economy is highly capitalistic and because of Antarctica’s location, it is commonly used as a stopping off point in southern hemispheric trade and transportation. The Antarctic Imperium also produces large amounts of transportational vehicles for use in and outside of Antarctica. Most cars in the Antarctic Imperium are made by Antarctic companies along with most public transport, and large amounts of Antarctic cars can be seen in the southern hemisphere. The Antarctic Imperium also sells large amounts of military tech to other nations, particularly to League members, for example in the Frozen War when tons of Antarctic military tech was sold and given to the Hydra German military aiding them in the creation of their defensive line along the German-Soviet border.
Infrastructure
The Antarctic Imperium’s cities are very highly developed and advanced and constantly new buildings and infrastructure is being built. Unfortunately the Antarctic Imperium lacks in connecting up those cities by road, instead they have tried to use exclusively plane and ship travel to get around the continent. As of right now there is a bill going through the Antarctic National Assembly to build a road system and maglev train connecting all major cities in Antarctica going around the coast.
Demographics
The Antarctic Imperium had a total of around 43 million people prior to the invasion of Argentina and not accounting for the invasion, it was projected that the Antarctic population would reach 55 million in the next 5 or so years due to their high population growth rate of 5% per year. Accounting for the new Argentine population, a total of 7.26 million people should be added on top. As such the official projected population is to lie around 60 million. Antarctica is a very population dense nation due to most of the population being centred around large cities, especially the Nova Alderaan urban area which contains over 13 million inhabitants, over a quarter of the Antarctic population. The Antarctic population itself is mostly located on the Antarctic Peninsula with more people further north. The ethnic groups as designated by the Antarctic government itself are the Robotoxites, those who are descendants of the Robotox Empire, and the Aboriginals, who are descendants of those who inhabited Antarctica prior to the Robotoxites. Though there has been evidence to show that the Robotoxite ethnic group may be a mixing of Robotoxites and European peoples due to immigration from the United States and Europe. You will find Russian descendants usually in the Antarctic East and South, British descendants in the Antarctic North, and Australian descendants in the Antarctic south. The most commonly spoken language in the country by far is Engisch, specifically the Antarctic dialect. Antarctic Englisch is heavily based on British English with some differences in how some sentences and words are structured. The Antarctic schools are legally required to teach in Englisch as a central class, and all students are required to learn Mando’a as a second language. Most schools also offer German and Russian as well as Icelandic, French, Japanese, and Chinese. The Antarctic Population is very secular due to not having a real religion when arriving at the planet. Overall over 95% of Antarcticans are secular. Those that remain are mainly Chrsitian with even fewer muslims. Most religious people in Antarctica are Antarctic Aboriginals. As of the annexation of Patagonia it is expected that some demographic shifts in ethnicity, language, and religiousness will change with an expected slight rise in religiosity from Argentines and a spike in the Spanish language of which over time will decline.
