The Symbols of the Council Republic
The FlagThe flag of Greater Helios is a horizontal tricolor of yellow, blue, and green, with a red bar hoist-side emblazoned with a yellow five-pointed star.
The base tricolor originates in the 1848 Heliosian Revolt, and symbolized the archipelago's position, with Christian Europe above, Muslim North Africa below, and the Mediterranean between the two.
The red bar was added after the 1918 socialist revolution, and symbolizes the blood spilled for freedom and democracy. The star represents the workers of the Republic, and the continual progress towards socialism.
The Emblem
The emblem of Greater Helios contains a wreath of wheat wrapped in a banner alternating between the national tricolor and a solid red. A gear rests above the bottom of the wreath, and a yellow star with red fimbriations is emblazoned on a blue field above that.
The wheat represents national prosperity and the rural farmers; the gear represents the urban workers. The star on the red background and the red banner both represent the struggle for socialism.
