The Call of the Wretched Sea by Ahab - recommended by Arotania.
"You have passages with synths and clear baritone vocals that paint pictures of relative calm and the vastness of the ocean leading into thunderous riffs accompanied by deep guttural growls, building tension, showing Captain Ahab's descent into mania. Make no mistake, this album is crushingly slow and heavy. But it never overstays its welcome and all musical changes and themes are motivated by its underlying story. A mood piece well worth plunging into."
JEKYLL + HYDE by Zac Brown Band - recommended by Overthinkers
"The album, while mostly country, has a little of everything on it; from reggae to rock/metal. All of the music is great, and many of the songs are good for lifting your mood on a bad day."

- The Wonder Years - Website, Storefront. At the risk of being called an emo kid by the general populace, I’d like to show the world The Wonder Years. Hardly a new band, their catalogue of 6 albums (and a few EPs) is saturated in both catchiness and intimacy. It seems like every song is one of Dan “Soupy” Campbell’s memories, and each album is more polished than the last. Plus, they’re on tour this Spring.

Look Sharp! by Joe Jackson - recommended by Davelands.
"There are lots of reasons why this is a great album. First of all, if you are a bass fan like I am you can’t help but admire the work of Graham Maby, one of the best bass players ever. Instead of providing just a standard background, his playing really leads a lot of the songs. Also, if you ever wanted to learn about the early punk years then the driving beats of this album can really give you a feel for that type of music. And yet, it moves past that with songs like ‘Is She Really Going Out with Him?’ and ‘Fools in Love’ that have a different, soulful feel to them."
Dick's Picks Volume 10 Winterland 12/29/77 by Grateful Dead - recommended by Big Bad Badger
"The first time I got a copy of it 1999ish, I fell in love with the set list. It really paints a great picture of one of my favorite bands at a time in history when they were at their peak performing"

Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart - recommended by Aleister of Lazrus.
It was hard to hear what was being said over the sound of Funkadelia's laughter on a Discord VC, but Aleister later wrote, "The album Trout Mask Replica is one of the best albums ever written." He later continued by writing, "Yeah give it another ten listens through and you'll understand fully. It's pretty out there, but the lyrics are really what I enjoy the most. I'm also a big fan of Frank Zappa so I love those weird jams."
Home by Deep Blue Something - recommended by Bran Astor
"This album became the soundtrack to my time as an exchange student in Germany my junior year of high school. I can't listen to it without getting lost in the wonderful memories of that experience."
