Vote Against GA resolution National Sovereignty Act
Resolution Analysis
The resolution reaffirms the sovereign right of each nation to choose its form of government, while granting the exclusive power to legislate on electoral matters to nations that hold elections (in matters not covered by current international legislation). However, being somewhat vague as to the methods for achieving this, it represents a double-edged sword. Current legislation does not cover all aspects required for the holding of free and fair elections, and that passing this resolution would block any future attempts to legislate on electoral matters, including those seeking to cover existing loopholes and/or to guarantee the transparency of electoral processes at all stages.
For these reasons, the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends a vote against the resolution.
