The Emperor's Imperial Army [EIA] is the largest branch of Imperial Defense Forces with over 600,000 active personnel. Under the nation's Ark Defense Act of 1937, the EIA is capable of expanding to 600,000 soldiers during a time of defensive war. The EIA is divided into 25 divisions of three different types: mechanized divisions, armored divisions, and infantry divisions. Not all EIA personnel are stationed in divisions, roughly 1,500 personnel are used for substituting at various posts when needed. The headquarters of the EIA is in Adis Ababa, along with the headquarters of the Imperial Ministry of Defense and Preparation.

It is the second highest priority branch of the Imperial Defese Forces due to the long coastline of the Imperial Union. The majority of the Ethiopian naval vessels are assigned to fleets which are scheduled throughout the year for maintenance, leave, training, and patrol missions. Vessels are not filled to maximum crew capacity during times of peace, but as per the Royal Defense Act of 1937 a draft can be used to fill out the remaining spots during times of war if necessary. All surface ships are assigned to one of 4 fleets, and the submarines are assigned to separate submarine ports. The headquarters of the IMF is in Massawa.
