MINISTRY OF PUBLIC SECURITY (Ministerio de Seguridad Publica):

The Ministry of Public Security is a governmental institution in Panama Coalition which is in charge of security in the nation; maintain and defend national sovereignty, ensure security, tranquility and public order in the country, as well as protect the life, honor, and property of its nationals and foreigners under its jurisdiction. It mission are determine the nation's security policies, plan, coordinate, control and support the efforts of the security and intelligence entities that make up this Ministry. For the fulfillment of its functions, the Ministry of Public Security is empowered to coordinate public security services and coordinate the activity of the information and intelligence agencies of the estates that make up this Ministry for the purposes of public security in the country, in permanent coordination with the National Security Council.

MINISTRY OF GOVERNMENT (Ministerio de Gobierno):

The Ministry of Government of Panama (MINGOB) (equivalent to the Interior Ministry of other nations) is in charge of assisting the Supreme Federal President of The Federal Republic of Panama Coalition in matters related to internal political government, internal security, and the full exercise of constitutional rights and guarantees, preserving and ensuring the federal government and democracy. Is responsible for internal affairs, emergency management, civil registration and identification, supervision of regional and local governments, conduct of elections, public administration and immigration (including passport issuance) matters. One of the responsibilities of the Ministry of Government is the administration of some security institutions charged with protecting the federal government and its leaders, and ensuring that the federal government operates safely.

COALITION INTELLIGENCE SERVICE (CIS):

Is an civilian intelligence organization of the Panama Coalition federal government responsible for global monitoring, collection, analyzing national security information from around the world and processing of information and data for foreign intelligence and counterintelligence purposes primarily through the use of human intelligence. Is Panama Coalition's external and internal intelligence and counterespionage agency, is responsible for intelligence and espionage activities outside the Panama Coalition. The CIS is also authorized to negotiate anti-terrorist cooperation and intelligence-sharing arrangements with foreign intelligence agencies, and provides analysis and dissemination of intelligence to the Supreme Federal President of Panama Coalition.

FEDERAL SECURITY SERVICE (FSS):

Its main responsibilities are within the country and include internal and border security, counter-terrorism, and surveillance as well as investigating some other types of grave crimes and federal law violations that threaten the internal security of the Federal Republic. is mainly responsible for internal security of the Panama Coalition, counterespionage, counterintelligence, cybersecurity and criminal investigations and the fight against organized crime, terrorism, and drug smuggling. it has also been responsible for overseeing border security and diplomatic security (embassies and consulates abroad). FSS special agents perform law enforcement duties at Panama Coalition missions, provide security assistance, protect senior diplomats and perform other roles as needed; to protect diplomatic assets, personnel and information, as well as combat visa and passport fraud.

FEDERAL AGENCY OF INVESTIGATIONS (FAI):

Is the domestic intelligence and security service of the Panama Coalition, which simultaneously serves as the nation's prime federal law enforcement agency. Its main responsibilities are the investigation of criminal organizations; jurisdiction over violations of federal crimes; Combat public corruption at all levels; Protect civil rights; Combat transnational/national criminal organizations and enterprises; Combat major white-collar crime; Combat significant violent crime; Support federal, state, local and international partners and Protect the Panama Coalition against cyber-based attacks and high-technology crimes.

JUDICIARY TECHNICAL POLICE of the ATTORNEY GENERAL (POLICÍA TÉCNICA JUDICIAL de la PROCURADURÍA GENERAL) (PTJ) :

Are a branch, separate police duty agency. Is the main criminal investigations body in Panama Coalition. It is in charge of the scientific clarification of the crimes with a view to the subsequent application of justice by the competent organs.The most important difference is that the judiciary police typically report to the judicial branch of government or to the justice ministry and the NATIONAL POLICE such as the , typically report to the Ministry of Security of the executive branch. Typical duties performed by the judicial police are administering and securing administration offices of the judicial branch, courts and prisons, providing physical security to judicial officials such as judges, criminal investigators and prosecutors, transportation of defendants and prisoners between courts, jails and law enforcement offices and other duties linked to enforcement of criminal law. In some cases, the judicial police secure enforcement of non-criminal judicial decisions, such as providing physical security to judicial enforcement officers (ushers or bailiffs), but that is commonly the duty of normal police. It is common for criminal investigation duties, usually under the direction of prosecutor's office, to be performed by the judicial police branch instead of a criminal investigation department within standard police force, but it does not commonly participate in other forms of law enforcement, such as enforcement of traffic codes.

NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR THE STUDY AND PREVENTION OF CRIMES RELATED TO DRUGS (COMISIÓN NACIONAL PARA EL ESTUDIO Y LA PREVENCIÓN DE LOS DELITOS RELACIONADOS CON LAS DROGAS) (CONAPRED):

It is a technical-administrative body of the Federal Government. CONAPRED is in charge of the study and the mechanisms tending to the prevention of illicit activities related to legal and illegal drugs and narcotics and the rehabilitation of these behaviors. It analyzes the national situation of drug-related crime and coordinates governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations and international action programs aimed at the implementation of the National Drug Strategy of the Panama Coalition. Its function is to coordinate all agencies and institutions for the fight against illegal drugs, the prevention of their illegal trafficking. Coordinates with international organizations and other foreign agencies related to the prevention of illicit activities related to drugs, the joint work required to combat them and coordinates all actions of national agencies responsible for the prevention of drug-related crimes. This coordination includes the Federal and State Judicial System, the Attorney General and the investigation agencies, police, military, etc.

NATIONAL ANTIDRUG DEPARTMENT (Departamento Nacional Antidrogas) (NAD):

 It is the CONAPRED agency dedicated to the fight against smuggling and drug consumption in the Panama Coalition, in addition to money laundering. It has its own special agents trained and specialized in the fight, follow-up and investigation against the production, distribution and sale of drugs, both domestically and beyond the borders of the nation.
