Following a lengthy conference on the matter of fighting hate and fascism in the Warzones, a treaty to establish a multilateral "Warzone Human Rights Council" with the intention of guaranteeing the basic rights of all Warzone citizens against those who would see them destroyed. The treaty, which enjoyed widespread support from communist and socialist factions across several regions, was railroaded through the Interior Ministry by the governor, being introduced and called to a vote by the representative of the Communist Party of Warzone Europe before quickly reaching quorum and being approved by the governor.

The treaty codifies what has already been an unspoken convention among native governments for some time; namely, that regional governments will avoid or suspend diplomatic relations with regions recognized as hostile by the council, and will close embassies if possible. The treaty furthermore impels signatories to provide mutual aid against aggression by recognized hostile regions, and provides for future arrangement on collaborative military efforts.

Anti-fascists have hailed the treaty as a necessary step towards eliminating hate speech and harassment in the Warzones, and fostering a safer and more inclusive community in general. Opponents have slammed the treaty as needlessly bureaucratic and largely redundant, saying that all of the measures contained within the treaty are merely establishing in theory what has already been the case in practice for several years. In a statement, the central committee of the CPWZEU has expressed that while the treaty does not singlehandedly eliminate the problems of fascism and hate in the Warzones, it is certainly a step in the right direction, and a heartening demonstration of what can be done through collective effort.

Warzones Brace for Nuclear War

Following rumors spurred by the recent news announcement, nations across the Warzones are standing up alert status, particularly in countries who have a confirmed nuclear strike capability. With an estimated four hours until the major world powers reach maximum nuclear readiness (as of press time), millions are already seeking means to ride out the coming storm. Reports across Warzone Europe of anti-war and anti-nuclear demonstrations, looting at supermarkets, and ruthless price gouging for essential survival commodities by capitalist authorities have been drowned out only by continual civil defence and emergency broadcasts. When pressed about the position of the regional government, Governor Ancian took a predictably "laseiz faire" position on nuclear preparations, stating that it was not the intention of the regional government to interfere in the right of sovereign nations to blow each other to smithereens.

In other regions, preparations have been undertaken under a cloak of secrecy. Warzone Asia, normally renowned for its free and prolific press, has instituted a news-blackout by its state media, and refused to offer official comment. Public dispatches released from the Warzone Asia Socialist Pact to its member states, however, refer to existing contingency plans, suggesting that the region may have had prepared nuclear war plans for such a contingency well in advance.

Presumably as part of these plans, many nations, most of whom are members of the socialist organization, and represent the Communist hardliners within the region, have begun a quiet evacuation to the newly-created region of WASP Survival Bunker. In addition, allegedly "routine security sweeps" have seen an increasing number of ejections and bans in the last several weeks, leading up to a declaration of a State of Emergency by the Chairman. Under PRWA law, exploiting "novel game mechanics" to destabilize the regional government is a capital offense. It remains to be seen, however, whether these preparations will have any impact on the impending nuclear holocaust, and whether such laws will be enforceable in the resulting nuclear anarchy.
