Overview
Dvergr, or Dwarves as they refer to themselves, are one of the major humanoid races within the realm of Shirika. Strong, stocky, and shorter than any other humanoid race, the Dvergr are a tradition-abiding folk renowned for their excellent craftsmanship, courage, and martial traditions. They have develop massive underground kingdoms with vast and intricate tunnel networks which extend throughout the mountains of Esani, and are known to have a distaste for Elves and a general distrust of Humans and other overworld species.

The Dvergr are a short race. The average Dwarf is roughly 4’3 in terms of height, with the tallest members of the species measuring at 5’1. Yet they make up for the lack of height with their bulky and hardy stock, weighing around the same amount as a Human on average. Females are generally taller, but less bulky, than their male counterparts. All Dwarves are capable of growing out long beards, no matter the gender. However female Dvergr shave off any sort of facial hair that may begin to grow. Like Humans, Dwarves have a variety of skin tones and hair colors, the most common being black hair.

Even though they are shorter than most species, they are known for their fighting prowess. They are experts in combat, efficiently using their weapons in battle while also being masters at planning ahead as they lack the ability to improvise, a skill in which Humans seem to be masters of. They will fight with hammers, picks, crossbows and pickaxes. Swords are also used, but are a rarity and considered some of the finest ever made.

Dvergr, despite having a shorter lifespan, age at a similar rate to Humans for much of their lives, the exception being that they tend to remain in their prime for a decade or two longer before aging rapidly in the remaining years of their life.
