Overview

HDS Headquarters

Hunter Defence Systems plc (HD Systems) or shortened as HDS, is a Noronnican multinational defence, security, and aerospace company with headquarters in Nolon City in the Overlordship of Noronica. It also has several operations in other nations with its largest operations being in Noronica and many C6 nations. The company was founded on 5 February 1992 by the merger of two Noronnican companies; Reinhardt Shipbuilding & Engineering which was a manufacturer of defence electronics and naval shipbuilding – and Noronnican Defence Corporation (NDC) which was an aircraft, munitions and naval systems manufacturer. Hunter Defence Systems also succeeded other defence companies such as the Noronnican Small Arms Factory which was Noronica's largest munitions and small arms factory since 1909. The company's Chairman, the politician Martyn Greyhound, has been the Chairman of HDS for six years and has become a prominent figure in Noronnican politics due to his promotion to Secretary for Defence in the Government.

The need for the merger became apparent in 1991 when major defence companies around the region were beginning to consolidate and merge into larger companies. Whereas in Noronica, there were a lot of defence companies, generating a conflict of interests. The United Noronnican Armed Forces put pressure on the companies to merge as contracting companies for military products had become too difficult with so many companies vying for contracts. In 1992, the merger of the two largest Noronncian defence companies was initiated, causing the formation of 'Hunter Defence Systems', named after the founder Graham Hunter. As the company was relatively large, it could afford to acquire smaller companies, incorporating several smaller defence companies throughout the early and late 1990's. One of its most notable acquisitions was the Noronncian Small Arms Factory, a government-owned company with several factories around the country. This caught a lot of media attention due to the historic significance of an over ninety-years-old company being acquired by a newly-formed company which was still consolidating itself in the global market.

Hunter Defence Systems is involved in several major defence projects, including the Dagordh-class submarine and the Devastator-class aircraft carriers. It has been the largest supplier for the United Noronnican Armed Forces, providing most of the small arms, munitions, naval vessels, and land-based systems in the Forces. The company has also been involved in various partnerships around the region, most notably with Corindia; helping to develop aircraft such as the E-4 Pinzón AWAC and the Iolaidh NC50 Refuel aircraft and land-based systems such as the NO-CO1 Coyote jeep and NO-TP5 Tiger light-armoured vehicle.
