Raiding Guide II

What is RAIDING?

Raiding

Raiding is when a group of players use puppet nations to join the World Assembly (Otherwise known as the WA), and using them to take control of a foreign region. Using update times, tools or just their guts, raiders move into a region before it updates. They then take the WA Delegacy, and gain the ability to change the regional flag, world factbook entry, tags, embassies, and the ability to suppress posts on the regional message board.

Why Raid?

Raiding has many advantages. Raids tend to gather large amounts of publicity, no matter their size, and help with recruitment. For every World Factbook Entry you tag, that is another billboard advertising your organization. The fastest way to gain notoriety on NationStates is through raiding. Raiding organizations also provide an active and pleasant community.

How Do I Raid?

1-Resign from the WA on the other puppets, if they are not the puppets you will be using for the current mission

2-Apply to the World Assembly with each of your raiding puppets. IMPORTANT: Do NOT click the link in the confirmation emails, you may only have one nation in the WA at a time.

3-Join the WA with one of the puppets you have applied with(click the link in one of the confirmation Emails).

4-Get in contact with other raiders. The best way to do this is to either have a friend play with you, or join a larger raiding organization. Forms of communication include, but are not limited to Telegrams, Regional Forums, Skype, and Chatrooms. DO NOT use the regional message board to communicate raid orders. Defenders will spot you.

5-After deciding a target and a point, endorse point the point(the nation that will become the WA Delegate.

6-Depending on the resources available to you (if you do not have an update tool, use the updates times given by NS++) figuring out what time your target updates, and move into the region. Once the point becomes Delegate, or your nations update, resign from the WA, and click the link in the confirmation email of another puppet.

7-At the end of the update, tag the region. How you do this is up to you, unless your organization has a policy regarding tags. The changes you can make to a region during a tag are the world factbook, flag, embassies, tags, supressing rmb posts, and polls.

STEALTH RAIDING

Like the name implies, Infiltrations are the sneaky spy operations, done by the double-o sevens of the NationStates world. Sometimes it involves getting up close to the Natives so you can stab them in the back. Other times it can be rising through the ranks of another Gameplay region.

Names: They're important
• Your infiltrator puppet needs to look legit. This means no default options, no references to other parts of NS, nothing. I suggest not using the puppet creator for NS++, and certainly not the random name generator.

• Answer issues. It isn’t necessary to answer issues ever time you get them, but at the very least once every two days is enough. If you don’t answer issues, you look suspicious. If you don’t answer issues, but remain active, it looks super suspicious.

• Hahaha. You think you’re cute. My nation is named We Are Not The NSA, so my infiltrator’s name is I Am The NSA. Haha. No. Don’t try to be cute.

Insertion

• Never move straight from a GCR to your target. Never, ever move to it directly after founding your puppet. Wait around a few days, pretend to be a noob. Preferably, move to an embassy region before moving over to the target.

The World Assembly

• It is best to wait before applying. The WA is not well known to new users, and it is unlikely for them to immediately want to join it. Once you do join it, start endorsing people, they will endorse you back (most likely).

UPDATE RAIDING

Tagging is the act of raiding multiple regions during the same update. It is the most well known, but least practiced form of raiding. It spreads the organization's name, and is not a permanent raid: it does not matter if the region is detagged, keeping control of the region is not the goal.

Switcher puppets

• It is possible to apply to the WA with as many nations as you would like. You should do this an hour before update begins.

• DO NOT JOIN THE WA WITH MULTIPLE NATIONS.

• Switchers can be personalized, or randomly generated.

• Switchers should be placed in your region’s jump point or puppet storage.

• Once a puppet updates (is in a region when it updates) you must switch to a new puppet by resigning, and joining on a different nation.

Updates

• There are two updates per day: One at 12:00 PM EST and one at 12:00 AM EST. During these times, nation’s stats are updated, one nation at a time. It is organized so that each region updates one after another. It is during this time that endorsements are counted and WA delegates are elected. This means that over the course of about 2 hours, each region will elect a new delegate one at a time.

Occupations

• These raids are one of the most basic raids. Once the delegacy is secured, the region is held for a period of time.

Goals

• Refound: Kick every nation out and let the region cease to exist, then founding it. This allows you to keep the region as a trophy.

• Occupy but release: Even if a refound is not possible (due to size, number of endorsements, or or amount of resistance from defenders) occupations get the most publicity, as each occupation is guaranteed at least one attempt by the World Assembly to Liberate it. The angrier the natives of the region are, the more publicity the raid will garner.

• Recruitment: It may surprise you to know that a good number of raiders are actually natives who joined a raiding region. Don't ask why, because I have no clue, but it is a trend.

How

• Basically, occupying is moving to a region, endorsing the point, and waiting. There is not a lot that can be done if one is not the delegate, other than staying in the region and talking with other raiders.

• Occupying is like other types of raiding, however it does not have to be done during the update (the occupations usually start during an update, but it doesn't matter what it is for a piler) and the nation used to endorse the point does not resign from the WA.

• After moving to the target and endorsing the point, you must stay in the region.
