We tend to use naval prefixes for our warships, for example: HMS (Her/His Majesty's Ship), HMCS (Her/His Majesty's Colonial Ship), or KM (Kriegsmarine). These are simply a matter of tradition, and the vast majority of us do not actually have monarchs in our nations. Some people choose to make one nation to represent their whole navy, like LSSM. Our naval ranking system is based loosely off of the Soviet Union's navy's. A "Starshina" is the Soviet equivalent of a Petty Officer.
