Standing Period Opens for Europeian Presidential Election

(Europeia, June 24, 2016) - Supreme Chancellor HEM opened standing for Europeia's Presidential Election on June 20, 2016, in a speech from Palatium Manor. Polls will open July 1, 2016.

In order to be eligible for the ballot, candidates must have been citizens at the time the election was called and must declare their candidacy to the Oval Room prior to the end of the standing period. Candidates must submit their running mate and any political party affiliation.

The Europeian Broadcasting Corporation will release the full list of candidates at the end of the standing period. At the time of publication, one ticket had stood and was eligible: Calvin Coolidge running for re-election with Kuramia as his running mate.

"No matter how able an executive we have, spirited elections have always made them better," Supreme Chancellor HEM said in his speech from Palatium Manor. "It has always made us better, and I encourage us to all think very deeply about our vote this cycle."

In addition to opening the standing period for the upcoming Presidential election, Supreme Chancellor HEM announced his intention to resign from the Chancellery after the conclusion of the election.
