World Assembly Membership [Archived]
Due to administrative changes in the Department of Foreign Affairs, this document will no longer be used to record East Gondwana's World Assembly votes. For information on where to find the new voting record, please contact the Department.East Gondwana has been a member of the World Assembly since its independence, and takes pride in being part of a cooperative international body dedicated to improving the world's standard of living and governance.
The Gondwanan delegation to the World Assembly is appointed by the government of the day, with approval from the President. The members of the delegation must not be current members of a political party, nor can they be currently serving in an elected public office. The delegation serves a fixed term of 5 years, though may be re-appointed if the Parliament and President approve. The delegation is answerable to the Parliament of East Gondwana, not the government.
East Gondwana's delegation to the World Assembly is committed to voting on General Assembly Resolutions in accordance with the best interests of both Gondwanes and the world's nations at large. East Gondwana's general practice is to abstain from voting on Security Council Resolutions, however in some circumstances the delegation may see fit to cast a vote.
The government of East Gondwana has recently committed to more transparency and public informing on the nation's World Assembly activity. As such, all votes or abstentions on General Assembly Resolutions will henceforth be recorded here.
NOTE: Due to what can only be described as a catastrophic clerical error of biblical proportions, the Gondwanan World Assembly Delegation has spent 3 months holidaying, sightseeing, and window shopping in the French Riviera. The delegation has been recalled and shall now resume the Federal Republic's international representation at the World Assembly. Message from Department of Foreign Affairs, dated 5/9/2016
