The Board of Control of Cricket in Damukuni
Damukuni Forms Domestic Cricket Board

DamuSport® Staff Desk in Namagoro

Cricket enthusiasts from across the nation of Damukuni have organized to form the Board of Control for Cricket in Damukuni (BCCD). The organization will form the basis for all activities relating to cricket within Damukuni and also formulate a national team for playing in the World Twenty20 Championships. The BCCD has named its officers as follows:

President: Marisa Risugami
Vice President: Kyousuke Hiragawa
Secretary: Faisal al-Gamal
Treasurer: Kenji Orojima
Public and Press Relations: Naomi Shusuke, Selena Oji

The BCCD also consists of the head of each state's cricket board.

In a news conference from earlier today, the new president expressed her desire to expand the loosely-confederated Damukuni Premier League Twenty20 into neighboring nations in Yerfilag. "Extending the opportunity to play cricket in Damukuni to our friends in the Yerfilagi Alliance is key to our organization as a board and an entity in international sports," Risugami said.

Team formations and initial squad announcements for the DPL T20 are to come as soon as the new teams are formulated. PR head Naomi Shusuke said that at least two new teams were scheduled to formulate, one from South Otselic and one from Roma Biz. Eight teams are expected to play in the tournament.

Public Relations Vice Director Selena Oji of the Board of Control of Cricket in Damukuni has officially confirmed the announcement by VP Kyousuke Hiragawa that the planning delay is over. The Yerfilag regional Twenty20 tournament will take place starting in late December, with teams yet to be totally confirmed.

So far, Nasutani's Damutel ThunderForce, Namagoro's DamuInsurance Tigers, Adelein's KRUGER Green Berets, and East Town's Supercel Eagles are signatory to the recently-christened Yerfilag Premier League (YPL). The first three YPL seasons will be sponsored by EverTran, Damukuni's largest vacation package dealer. (As such, it will be named the EverTran YPL for sponsorship reasons.)

Any nation in Yerfilag wishing to send a team must submit their name, sponsor, home city and squad (of at least 13 players) by 21 December. The tournament will begin on 26 December.

EverTran YPL Match 1 - Dolphins vs. Tigers - Match Report

DamuSport

West Bay reporting desk

Takahashi Shurisei hit a wonderful captain's innings - a remarkable 47 off just 22 balls - to lead his Dolphins to a four-wicket home victory over the visiting Tigers from Namagoro.

Shurisei lost the coin toss, and the visiting captain, Masahiro Hideyoshi, elected to bat first. Despite losing only four wickets, the Tigers were held to a modest total of 145 runs in their full innings, giving Shurisei and his Dolphins a comfortable required run rate of 7.30 runs per over to chase.

Tigers Innings
The 1st inning, preceded by a short pre-game event featuring the heads of the Board of Control of Cricket in Damukuni, Cricket South Otselic, and the Roma Biz Cricket Board, started fairly relaxing for the Tigers. Ruhelei Ogana, of the Former Unadilian Territories, nearly survived the entire innings, only getting put out after a short-sighting caused him to be stumped by Dolphins' wicket-keeper, Takashi Ogami, in the 17th over. He was Tigers' top scorer, posting a total of 74 off just 48 balls. Of the other five who batted for Tigers, only Kyousuke Reishi made a significant contribution, with 32 off 19.
Dolphins' bowling forced low economy this innings. Umezaki Hidegama went 2 for 59; Irudori Takaguchi and Humedashi Natto took one wicket apiece.

Dolphins Innings
Despite the bad bowling from the 1st inning, and Damukunian cricket favorite Itao Yamagashi going down for a leg-before-wicket duck on the first ball of the 2nd inning, Dolphins started out on a high note. By the end of the 6-over power play, they sat on 59-2. However, after the end of power play, Tigers' Akio Rishigawa went on the attack, notably scoring a rare double-wicket maiden in over 14. With a total of 105-5 and only 36 balls to go, captain Shurisei stepped up to the crease to give the Tigers an all-out bashing. His 47 off just 22 balls was enough to propel the Dolphins to a comfortable endgame, the last ball a six that crashed straight into the press box on the top level of the West Bay Cricket Club.

Tigers won the toss and chose to bat

Dolphins 149-6 (18.2)
Tigers 145-4 (20)

Dolphins won by 4 wickets with 10 balls remaining

Igarashi Endou hit 39 off 22 and bowled 2 for 24 to propel the visiting ThunderForce of Nasutani to a 1-run win over East Town's Eagles.

ThunderForce Innings
Eagles captain Terugami Nishiori won the coin toss and deferred, allowing ThunderForce to set their target first. ThunderForce posted a total of 145 runs, losing only five wickets in the process. Notable batting spells, along with Endou, were Umegashi Hideyama's 32 off 28 and Teruhiko Imadori's 24 off 21.

Eagles Innings
When Eagles came to bat, they lost all four of their power hitters - Hideki Tokugawa, Nemashi Oremo, Satoshi Tojo, and Iruki Goji - within the power play. When over 7 came up, they were 97-4, but the next two batsmen, Tsumaji Wario and Umeshi Niigata, bat fairly conservatively. When one run was required off the last ball, it was quickly scooped up by all-rounder Yukama Torigawa before they could tie the match.

Eagles won the toss and elected to bat

Eagles 144-5 (20)
ThunderForce 145-7 (20)

Cricket South Otselic's first-ever cricket team in any format blazed through a spectacular performance of both fielding and batting to beat the i2 Storm of Tsunegami by 5 wickets.

Storm Innings
After winning the coin toss at the Adelein Cricket Ground, visiting Storm captain Polly Jameson of The Two Cincys, one of four women playing in the tournament due to the absence of a women's club team, took her team out to bat. Power play was strong, with Storm finishing at 57 for no loss. However, by over 13, the Green Berets bowling squad seemed to have them figured out; after that, Storm only managed a run rate of 3.2. Or at least wicket-keeper David Reid had them figured out; in over 14, he stumped out Jameson, Hidegami Noboyuki, and Storm power hitter Nadofu Hitori on three consecutive balls, giving the South Otselician team the first hat-trick by any Yerfilag cricketer. Despite a late show by Itao Matsuna (24 off 29, 3 sixes), Green Berets held Storm to a total of 127 runs, with 5 out.

Green Berets Innings
After the last ball of the Storm innings, captain Archibald Donaldson started to the crease - and never looked back. He was 66 not out off 39 balls, including 3 sixes and 5 fours. Despite losing his opening partnership with Hector Ross (24 off 15) and wicket-keeper Reid walking off the field due to a pulled muscle (7 not out off 9), he continued to hit away, much to the delight of the South Otselician crowd, especially His Excellency the Emperor of South Otselic, Constantinius II. Even though the Damukunian squad took three more wickets that day, it simply was not enough - Green Berets captain Donaldson hit the final ball (over 15.2) with a nice shot flat and backward of square to have not only his teammates, but also the grounds crew and cameramen with SuperMAX Sports, celebrating on the field in the faces of not only Storm's players, but also the surprised Damukunian umpires.

Storm won the toss and elected to bat

Green Berets 130-5 (15.2)
Storm 127-5 (20)

Green Berets won by 5 wickets with 28 balls remaining

Despite two thirties by both Surak and Stron of the visiting Cricketmind Shadows of Ravnica, the AndromedaNet Nationals captured the first win of the season in their home stadium in the Damukunian capital of Atarashii-Damushuto.

Nationals Innings
The Nationals took their team to bat after the Shadows elected to chase the total. Norishi Umegawa and Morihei Matsui worked up an amazing 74-run partnership through the power play and lasting until the 9th over, when Matsui was lbw by Shadows' fast bowler Sern. The Roma Biz team continued to take wickets at an alarming rate; at the end of over 13, Nationals were at a weak total of 99 for 4. It took captain Hideshi Nagoya and wicket-keeper partner Naruto Horeishi about 2.3 overs to get the total comfortable for a good chase. Nagoya's wicket at over 16.4 saw Nationals at 130 for 5. Nationals would go on to lose only one more wicket in the next 3.2 overs to finish at 145 for 6.

Shadows Innings
The Ravnican captain, Sokel, remained for the whole 2nd innings, scoring a total of 56* off 45. However, nothing went right for Shadows after they lost first Surak (37 off 24) and then Stron (35 off 31). Each remaining batsman, including Roma Biz's two athletic stars sent by Sportsmind, Selv and Sek, each went down posting a total of less than 20 runs each. The only other batsman not out was Sirok, who came in at 11 on over 18.4 and only scored 4 off 4 balls.

Shadows won the toss and chose to field

Nationals 145-6 (20 overs)
Shadows 132-9 (20 overs)

The Shadows avenged their humiliating loss in Damukuni's capital at the NISC today with a 36-run win over the hosting Tigers.

Shadows Innings
Captain Sokel won the toss. Choosing to bat first, he and wicket-keeper Sek started off the innings with a blazing 73-run partnership. After Sokel was run out by Kyousuke Reishi in the 9th over, Selv came into play, with an eventual 48 more runs being scored. By the end of the 16th over, it was 123-6, with Sek still at the crease. Even though he was brought down by the Unadilian, Ruhelei Ogana, the very next ball, Sarek stepped up to the crease to finish the inning off on a high note for Shadows, with a finish of 147 with 3 wickets in hand.

Tigers Innings
Shadows got off to a good fielding start to begin the chase - at the end of over 3 Tigers were held to a weak 24-2. Tigers captain Masahiro Hideyoshi then stepped up to the crease and hit up a blazing 74-run partnership with Ogana. Ogana was run out by Selv in the 16th over, and with no strong batsmen to help Tigers clean up, the remaining 24 balls only mustered a run rate of 3.25, which caused the Tigers to fall short of the 148-run target.

ThunderForce managed to post an impressive total of 135, but the South Otselicians proved themselves once again, this time at the Nasutani Municipal Stadium.

1st Inning Batting
Green Berets captain Archibald Donaldson and his playing XI took to the field for the 1st inning. ThunderForce substitution Uzamaki Mizagawa and regular batsman Teruhiko Imadori played the game of staying power throughout the power play, hitting a total of 64. They continued to power shots through their partnership until over 9, when Mizagawa was caught outside the crease and stumped by Green Berets keeper David Reid at 92. Next to step up was Hidegashi Noritashi, who bat an additional 20 (14). After his loss, ThunderForce managed an additional 24 for 3, finishing at 135 for 5.

2nd Inning Batting
ThunderForce's Iruki Goji immediately bowled out Hector Ross on the first ball, but despite losing him, Green Berets managed 42 off the power play with Donaldson and Reid. When Donaldson's stumps fell (c Mizagawa b Imadori), Patrick Cunningham helped Reid level the playing field. Green Berets were 101 for 4 at the end of 14 overs, but Cunningham and new batsman Kerr Martin, the youngest YPL player (at 20), finished batting the remaining 35 runs in 4.2 overs, including Martin's first six and 3 boundaries and a six from Cunningham, to chase the total with 10 balls left.

Eagles were confident about their decision to chase as they held Dolphins to a weak 115 and successfully chased even though they lost 7.

1st Inning Batting
Dolphins bat fairly conservatively throughout the match, even though they only lost 3 wickets. Captain Takahashi Shurisei hit a comfortable 36 off 37, Itao Yamagashi 34 off 48, and Morihei Ukumawa 28 off 39. However, Eagles fielders seemed to snatch up every possible ball in the outfield, and only two boundaries were scored the entire 1st inning (Shurisei, Ukumawa). Dolphins finished at 115 for 3.

2nd Inning Batting
The opening partnership of Hideki Tokugawa and Nemashi Oremo survived 7.2 overs, scoring 59 runs. Oremo's wicket brought up Satoshi Tojo, who hit an additional 37 (off 24) before his stumps fell (b Yamagashi). Tsumaji Wario and Umeshi Niigata both fell on consecutive wickets, bringing young Yuji Hidewara to the crease. He survived the remainder of the 2nd inning, seeing the wickets of Tokugawa (57 runs), Shozo Mikazu (4 runs), and Takashi Ozudeshi (duck, 2 balls). Hidewara hit the winning boundary at scores level down to fine leg.

Eagles won the toss and chose to field

BREAKING: BCCD terminates Namagoro Tigers franchise

Kyousuke Hiragawa
Vice President
Board of Control of Cricket in Damukuni

The Board of Control of Cricket in Damukuni has taken notice of a breach in contract between the Tigers of Namagoro and its primary sponsor, DamuInsurance. As Tigers lost all of their matches thus far, DamuInsurance immediately voided their contract upon the loss of the third match. Seeing that a team's primary sponsor has backed out of the Yerfilag Premier League, the BCCD called an emergency meeting to seek solutions with DamuInsurance and Jun Nishiki, owner of the Tigers franchise.

While DamuInsurance's claims that the team was not profiting for them were not necessarily deemed fitting and proper as grounds for immediate termination of the franchise, it was found that DamuInsurance had breached BCCD policy by shirking the responsibilities of their original support contract, still in effect, that held DamuInsurance to a one-year binding agreement with the Tigers franchise. Investigators for BCCD noted that the contract held no clause for voluntary termination by either the Tigers franchise or DamuInsurance at any time.

The BCCD then contacted the president of DamuInsurance, Yumiko Morihei. Morihei told the BCCD that DamuInsurance had filed for liquidation bankruptcy two days before. BCCD found out that a court date had been set to discuss the terms of the liquidation, but no decisive action had been taken as to who the Tigers franchise would be supported by in the future. The BCCD consequently sanctioned against the bankrupt DamuInsurance for breaching its contract. With no feasible way to provide for the Tigers franchise by switching sponsors mid-season, the BCCD passed a motion to dissolve the Tigers franchise and to hold an emergency tournament in the Division One to find a replacement team.

The tournament will be held this Saturday and Sunday, 3 and 4 January, at the West Bay Cricket Complex, and will feature the Cortland Crimson Knights, Dekendris Imperials, Vestal Blue Devils, and Two Cincys United, the top leaders in their groups. The tournament will feature a one-leg round robin, the winner of which will replace Tigers for the remainder of the season. The team will also be immune to the promotion/relegation tournament if found to be in seventh or eighth place.

The current Division One will be reorganized into three groups.

Crimson Knights join YPL; CTV Sport to broadcast in Cortland

Kyousuke Hiragawa
Vice President
Board of Control of Cricket in Damukuni

We are pleased to announce the promotion from the Supercel Yerfilag Cricket Division One of the Crimson Knights of Lafayette, Cortland, to the Yerfilag Premier League. They will be sponsored by Telecort for the remainder of this season, and will resume on the former Tigers franchise's fixture schedule. Home matches for the Crimson Knights will be played at the Lafayette Veterans' Memorial Arena (VMA) in Lafayette, Cortland.

The Crimson Knights, given the emergency circumstance of their promotion, will be immune to relegation regardless of overall placement for this season only.

Additionally, the Yerfilag Premier League is proud to announce the addition of another broadcast partner in Cortland's national sports network, CTV Sport. They will broadcast the Yerfilag Premier League exclusively in the Federal Republic of Cortland starting with the 5 January match between the Eagles and the Crimson Knights at the East Town International Stadium in East Town, Eastern Free State, Damukuni.

EverTran YPL Match 10 - Green Berets vs. Dolphins - Report

ENGLISH LANGUAGE SERVICE
Staff Desk, Namagoro

Despite a great batting lineup and a great partnership between Malcolm Hunter and Calan Robertson, the Green Berets were nearly bowled out by the Dolphins and the total was successfully chased.

1st Inning Batting
Having chosen to field, the Dolphins eagerly took up their positions in the oval. Green Berets captain Archibald Donaldson hit well in the power play, scoring 19 runs; power play finished at 40 for 1 (the wicket being Pat Cunningham). Green Berets then proceeded to lose the next 4 batsmen (Reid, Makenzie, Allan, and Shaw) over the course of 5 overs. Donaldson soon followed (c & b Shurisei) in over 14.2; he finished the night with 36. When Hunter and Robertson hit, however, the partnership scored an amazing 43 off just 16 balls. Hunter's wicket brought little comfort to Green Berets; the final stand was between Hunter and Kerr Martin, the latter facing no balls. Green Berets were held to a small total of 135.

2nd Inning Batting
Captain Takahashi Shurisei and his Dolphins batting partner Morihei Ukumawa provided most of the runs for Dolphins in the chase (Shurisei 54, Ukumawa 47). The remaining 38 runs were spread out over Fumio Itsuji (10), Reigami Fukushima (8) Harashi Teiko (6) Teruhiko Sato (6), and Akio Rishigawa, formerly of the dissolved Tigers franchise (8, including the winning six). Although Green Berets took 6 wickets, it was not enough to keep the Dolphins from emerging victorious.

Dolphins won the toss and chose to field

Green Berets 135-9 (20 overs)
Dolphins 139-6 (17.3 overs)
