Founded in 1921 when the military was formed, the Svalbardian navy has been the main focus of the Svalbardian Government. With alot of money put into it, it is an extremely effective modern fighting force.
The Svalbardian Navy was formed as soon as the nation revolted. A Scandinavian Battle fleet of 1 Battleship, 3 frigates, and 7 Destroyers, were parked in a Svalbardian port. They were quickly reprimanded. It was this fleet that destroyed the large Scandinavian battle fleet, that came to stop them. The fleet would fight a few more times before the War of Svalbardian Independence was over, although the flagship of the fleet, the Polar Seas, was where the treaty between the new nation and the Scandinavian nations was signed.
After that the main focus of the fleet was put into large ships like Battleships, it would be during the First Imperial War that the Svalbardian High Command would see the need for smaller vessels and Carriers. That would be the way forward in modern warfare. The Svalbardian Navy was quickly revolutionized after the First Imperial War, and here they would be one of the most modern fleets in the Isles. This continues to this day, where the ships are consistently upgraded.

The Vessels of a Modern Navy
Power Projection on the High Seas
The Svalbardian Navy Employs three main fleets, each headed by a powerful flagship, designed to show Svalbardian Power. First Fleet currently has the Egersund Carrier, which is the largest display of power projection for the navy. The ship though is old, and is going to soon be replaced by a more modern carrier designed by Franco-Albion, of which the navy has invested money into.
Concurrent to this the Second and Third Fleets both have an Alexi Demeter Class Cruiser as their flagship, which is intended to be able to throw out a large, overpowering variety of guided missiles. Along with that there is two Chumash Assault Carriers, one in each of the two fleets without a carrier, in order to up their capacity to commit to landings.
Protection for Fleets
All three main fleets have 7 destroyers that stay with the flagship at all times. These destroyers are of the Akseline Class Destroyer, of which have a large amount of anti-ship and anti-air missiles. These Destroyers are intended to assist and protect the flagships of the fleet within their mission and are not designed to do their own independent operations. That is what frigates and Corvettes are for.
Multi-Role Vessels, a True Multi-Mission Fighter
The two ship classes that are engaged in a variety of missions are the Frigates and Corvettes, each designed to go it on their own, or in task forces, and possibly even to defend a fleet.
Frigates are based on the Valenshia Class Frigate design, designed by Sedolv Mikla. These Frigates are truly multi-mission with facilities that can launch guided-missiles at threats on the sea, over it, or under it. As it stands each fleet is assigned 10 Frigates, these can be used at the admirals discretion in a variety of ways, from missions that remain in the fleet, to missions that go out of it. Many times Frigates will go out on missions even while the main fleet is still in port, thus allowing fleets to be in many places but still maintain organization.
Its counterpart, the Reykjavik Class Corvette, is quite like the Valenshia Class Frigate although smaller. But these ships are engaged in missions that involve them into task forces of 4 Corvettes and 1 Independence Class LCS, of which they are apt for missions far away from the main fleets. The Corvettes are also a favorite of Svalbardian Special Forces to move around on, on missions.
20,000 Leagues under the Sea, Equipped with Guided Missiles
Submarines are still an important part of any nation's navy. Polar Svalbard's Submarines hold guided missiles and smart torpedoes, ready to destroy hostile ships. The Svalbardian Navy holds 2 Nuclear Submarines and 6 Attack non-nuclear Submarines.
The Lifeblood of any Navy
The Svalbardian Navy is serviced by a multitude of logistical ships. These ships are extremely important as they keep the ships armed and sailing. These ships range from tankers to mid-sized cargo haulers to a state of the art hospital ship. The Men and Women aboard these ships are extremely important to the navy, just as anyone aboard any other ship.
Fleets and their Role in a Naval Power
First Fleet, Power Projection Done Right
The First Fleet is the main power projection force of the Svalbardian navy. This is attributed to its powerful carrier, able to deal hate at a moment's notice. This powerful force is able to go anywhere in the isles and support Svalbardian Allies and dish out fire at Svalbardian Enemies.
The fleet is headed by the Egersund Carrier, which is a large carrier, of which is not as modern as many counterparts. Thus the Egersund will soon be replaced by the Trimaran Class Carrier, which was designed in Franco-Albion.
The first fleet is commanded by Front Admiral Bahadur Xerxes, a man of Persian descent, he is a man in his 50s, rough and tumble, he's spent his adult life serving for the Svalbardian navy, and is renowned as one of its best admirals. He has commanded a plethora of ships, ranging in all classes except for the LCS and Corvette class.
Second and Third Fleets, A.K.A Overwhelming Firepower
The Second and Third fleets are based around a policy of overwhelming firepower. Case in point by their flagships, the heavily armed Alexi Demeter Class Cruiser. These cruisers allow the fleets substantially more guided missiles than First fleet, although they do not have the same air power as First fleet does.
The Svalbardian Navy had discussed whether they should put light carriers in to replace the cruisers, but it was deemed too costly, and instead they would have the assault carriers have that role. Although they are not able to house fixed wing aircraft, their complement of JJ-1 Auks though is able to help with amphibious assaults and to a certain degree sea combat. The assault carriers also have a complement of helicopters on board to assist in anti-sub operations and to assist troops on land.
The Second Fleet is commanded by Rear Admiral Chester Debaucher. He is a man in his late forties and has served his entire military career as an officer in the navy by graduating out of NUNW. He has served on a variety of ships, earning his first command aboard the destroyer, Alikena. He is a man of English descent, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is physically average, at around 5'9, but he is bulkier as he is quite fit, not allowing his admiral-ship to keep him out of condition.
The Third Fleet is commanded by Rear Admiral Alexander Fosse. Like Debaucher he is also in his late forties, but he is descended from the Scandinavians. His height is 5'10, and he is lean but muscular. His blonde hair and blue eyes are not his defining facial features, what is, is his scar across the left side of his face that he received when he got second degree burns from a ship fire aboard the frigate Alta Heights. He got his first command when he was 28 aboard the Corvette Zazchevy.
The Auxiliary Fleet, a Flotilla of Task-Forces
The Auxiliary fleet is not technically fleet but more a way to organize the 5 task forces that comprise it. These task forces are Alpha, Delta, Granite, Raven, Sword. These Task Forces are comprised of 4 Corvettes and 1 Independence Class LCS. These Task Forces are used on missions that don't require large fleets, but still need a cohesive force. Thus these are on standby, and are usually used by special forces such as SMI-2.
The Fleet is administered/Commanded by Admiral Micheal Dempnov, who is the youngest admiral as he is in his early forties. He hails from Russian descent, with black hair and brown eyes. He is the tallest admiral standing at 6 foot. He is lean and muscular like Rear Admiral Fosse, and he actually was a swimmer for NUNW. He had his first command at 27 with the Frigate Ravenclaw.
