Scientific Advancement Chart

This is our official SCIENTIFIC ADVANCEMENT CHART for all story nations. Please compare your nation's Scientific Advancement rating to this chart (below), to determine the level of scientific and technological advancements that your nation is able to manufacture.

You may only build tech according to your nation's tech group(s) and owned roleplay companies.

All technologies require a development cost BEFORE you can begin using that technology. Once a technology is "purchased", then you can develop any real life technology within that category according to your Scientific Advancement rating and claimed companies. You can always obtain completed tech products from another country (via trade), but YOUR nation cannot develop its own versions of that technology until you purchase or obtain the technology from the Tech Tree (according to the Culture Chart cost). (See Tech Tree)

Any nation can buy Tech Tree technology from another player nation that already has it. However, doing so results in -3 culture points for the buying nation at the start of the next roleplay year.

New tech groups can be added to your nation whenever a culture reaches 40% (thereby changing to a dominant culture in that national province). Earned tech groups remain with a nation, regardless of any future change in cultures. In this way, a nation's technology becomes linked to it's unique cultural growth.

If any player nation ceases to exist, their already-constructed tech items can carry over to the new land claim owner IF an ex-factbooks dispatch page still exists for roleplay reference.

If you wish to improve the scientific year/level of your nation, be sure to answer the game issues that improve your Scientific Advancement stat. Game stats always define the levels of a player nation.

Scientific Advancement Levels

TO MANUFACTURE technology, you MUST:
  • ...have purchased any appropriate tech development abilities from the Culture Chart/Tech Tree.

  • ...have the appropriate Scientific Advancement level. Each level matches the tech level of a real life year. You may may manufacture any technology (cars, trucks, aircraft, missiles, etc.) that was originally first PRODUCED in that year, so long as it matches your nation's tech group(s), or any claimed companies that you currently own.

  • Tech materials include: whatever resources or manufactured components your nation has access to. This means that you are going to need iron and coal to make steel, oil to refine fuel for automobiles, wood to create paper products, etc.
