NPC talk and decisions for next update:

Dark Wood Orcs:
At the first darkness of day, Grumtash the Hollow marvelled at his ingenuity - his precarious alliance with the spiderling beasts in Mirkwood paid off - a win-win situation for which the arachnids reaped significant results and the orcs could devise other plans to expand; and they had where to expand ... the planes of Southern Mirkwood looked particularly intriguing, but so did any of the other adjacent realms.

Before turning his eyes to outside his current borders, Grumtash had one other hollow item on his agenda: a last sacrifice to the arachnids, in the form of a mass feast with the people of Woodmen-town, deep in Western Mirkwood...

----
No army movements

Doom'dr'thak:
Expanding in the southernmost barbaric realms proved to be extremely costing for Doom'dr'thak, a significant kingdom with roots at the bottom of the Mountains of Shadow.

Bru'tak Gumdum, son of late ruler and hero Mortok Gumdum (killed in an unsuccessful raid on a fortified position) gathered all the scattered orcs after that devastating blow and is now considered to be in a very good position, having already centralized and organized the main bulk of his armies. An astonishing feat to any accounts, considering that we're talking about Orcs ...

But he still needs some additional time. There are still things to be done before considering expanding again.

----
No army movements

East Rho-Drukars:
Glodurin of Eastern Rhovanion comes from a distant lineage of dwarfish rulers from the Iron Hills. Unfortunately, his once proud dominion of dwarves was cut short by incompetence, greed and inside and outside turmoils for a few generations, effectivelly cutting down his realm to what's now around Eastern Rhovanion.

But Glodurin is nothing like his fathers before him. As a matter of fact, the dwarves around Glodurin have high hopes that, during his reign they will get back what's ... rightfully theirs.

----
No army movements

Fangorn Dwarves:
Near the Gap of Isen, in the Fangorn forest, lied the realm of Bildur the Smither, a dwarf of unknown origins. But as the name suggests, he prides himself with his works, and there isn't a living soul that touched his works and hasn't declared in might that he's the greatest Master of Smithing of this Age.

Full of riches, he amassed great armies and none know if his thoughts darkened ... if perfect jewellery or deadly war machines will start to pour out of his Smithing fields of Fangorn ... at the foothill of the Misty Mountains.

----
No army movements

Free people of Lamedon:
Andorgor the Brave looked on his bed chamber window and saw vast, rich realms to the South, North and East. Lamedon was known to be a key region, fortuitous in its position and bestowed with a great gene pool of capable men. Capable to work the fields and capable to bear arms, in need.

Today, the men work the fields but ... who knows what tomorrow brings?

----
No army movements

Remnants of Old Religion:
In Andrast the fires burn brigth, day and night.

Gruumsh the Infernal, some sort of deity in the eyes of the living souls in Andrast, is worshipped by a province-wide cult of orcs, humans and other curiously shaped beasts. His words come out as fireballs and move the masses to a frenzy, making his armies merciless and fanatical. One wonders what his future plans are ...

----
No army movements

Rhudaur Folk:
King Arundar of Rhudaur had no time for pleasantries. Swearing allegiance to the Witch King of Angmar is one of his priorities.
"Send a raven with the following message to the Witch King of Angmar", he said to one of his commanders. The letter states:

"Mighty Witch King of Angmar,

I, Arundar the 1st, King of Rhudaur, pledge loyalty to your might and am ready to heed your calls in times of need.
Know that you have my undying support, and, until such time arrives, we will task ourselves with expanding.
All in the name of the Mighty Kingdom of Angmar.

Signed,
Arundar the 1st,
King of Rhudaur"

At this point in time, King Arundar's words were sincere ...

Rhudaur Folk:
King Arundar of Rhudaur had no time for pleasantries. Swearing allegiance to the Witch King of Angmar is one of his priorities.

The Dominion of Glim Firebeard
Glim's eyes scanned across the assembled warbands of Dwarves. It has been many long years since the last warhost of this size was assembled, and he was keenly admiring his kinsmen. After finishing his inspection, he raises his waraxe to silence the Dwarves..

'My kinsmen!' he shouted. 'Fer too long we 'ave watched tha world change aroond us, nae caring aboot anything aside from what concerned us. Those days are over! Today we set out ta build a Kingdom worthy of our people. Today we march ta war!'

As one the Dwarves roared their approval at their leader. The roaring echoed in the narrow mountain valley that led to the Dwarf Hold, until it sounded like the mountains themselves were roaring.
-----
The offensive had been in the works for a while now. Favours were called in from distant relatives, alliances formed with the various local clans, until sufficient forces could be mustered. This initial campaign would ultimately determine whether Glim would lead his people to greatness or obscurity in the annals of history. The first objective was to march south through Northern Rhovanion and claim Middle Rhovanion. Scouts had sent reports of a minor Dwarven realm in Eastern Rhovanion, led by a similarly ambitious leader, and already Glim was concerned about conflicting objectives. As such, messengers had been dispatched to Glodurin of Eastern Rhovanion, bringing a greeting from Glim:

Tae Master Glodurin of Eastern Rhovanion!

Greetings ta ye. As yer read this message, ah expect ta be feasting in the newly conquered land of Middle Rhovanion. My scouts have heard tales of the greatness of yer people, and ah hereby extend ta ye, an invitation ta discuss tha future of our two realms. If ye were to join me in Middle Rhovanion, perhaps we might settle on a mutually beneficial course of action - or at the very least share ale and the stories of our ancestors!

Ah expect ta see ya soon,

- Glim Firebeard

The only other point of concern for the Dwarf King was the rumours of Orcs stirring in Mirkwood. Naturally concerned about the forest on its own, the last thing he needed right now would be an Orcish warband showing up on his doorstep while he was busy carving out an empire. As such, the best runners and scouts available were sent into Mirkwood in the hopes of learning the whereabouts of the Orcs, and perhaps gauging their intentions.

----
1000 Dwarves led by Glim Firebeard marching through Northern Rhovanion and attacking Middle Rhovanion.
Ambassador sent to Glodurin of Eastern Rhovanion (NPC), inviting him to discuss matters of state with Glim Firebeard in the (hopefully) newly conquered province.
Scouts sent into Mirkwood to search for the Dark Wood Orcs (NPC), and perhaps learn a thing or two about their plans.

Maedhros:
Concerned about the size of his realm, Maedhros' main goal was to expand. So it was decided that his initial move would be to move over Southern Arthedain with 1000 soldiers.

----
Attack Southern Arthedain with 1000 soldiers

Angmar:
The Witch King of Angmar hisses at one of his servants. "Send a message to this so called King of Rhuadar. Tell him his oath of allegiance is accepted. And get as much information on him as possible. This type of greed is prone to cause him to betray us."

Letter to King Arundar of Rhudaur
Man King of Rhudar, King Arundar the first,
Your oath of allegiance has been noted. We will hold you true to your word. Your priorities are to attack any elves on sight. Otherwise, you may mostly do as you wish, though do not interfere with the matters of my master.
Signed,
Gothmog of Gundabad, lieutenant of Angmar.

3000 Orcs led by the Witch King of Angmar to Forochel.

Alliance of Haradrim and Ithilien Rangers:
Eowyn picked at her nails nervously, waiting for her husband to come back. Something was wrong with Faramir, and she didn't know what to do about it.

Swirling clouds of dust rose high into the evening air as dozens of calloused, gnarled, leathery feet pounded the ground. The Mumakil were going to war. Faramir contemplated the scene from a rocky outlook. It was strange--you would never guess that these humongous, lumbering animals received all their ferocious energy from such a small and simple thing; the lowly peanut.

This last troop of Mumakil completed the forces that Ithilien had already mobilized. Thanks to their pact with several tribes of Haradrim, Faramir's forces were ready to conquer the world. Or at least die trying.
The first step was to conquer some of the lands to the north. We need more peanut growing fields! reasoned Faramir, which made his wife worry all the more.

----
1000 humans attack Anorien and another 1000 attack Dagorlad.

The Noldorin Kingdom of Eregion:
Lord Glorfindel, ruler of the renewed Noldorin Kingdom, sat in thought, in the fortified camp that the elves had made near the ruins of Ost-in-Edhil. That great city where elves and dwarves had come together, ruled by Celebrimbor, the forger of the Rings of Power, had been destroyed by the forces of evil. They would rebuild it, in time, but first there was the matter of war. The Witch-King of Angmar, whom Glorfindel himself had prophesied that no man would fell him, had returned, and he would draw the forces of men and orcs to the north to his banners. There was no doubt that they would dwell in piece for long.

Glorfindel looked up, at the ever-waving banners of the elves, gold, silver and blue, radiant stars in the sky of blue. He only had 1,000 Elves under his command, and while the elves were mighty, their strength had waned much after the First Age. But here, in Eregion, and in other elven strongholds, remnants, glimpses of that ancient fury and might still remained. In order for evil to be defeated, good must assemble, and for that, he needed allies.

And so, an emissary was sent out, to the kingdom of Maedhros in Eryn Vorn and Cardolan, to seek out their leader and propose an alliance.
The emissary, after a few hour's ride, arrived at the court of Maedhros the Tall. Gaining admittance, he bowed before the elven ruler and said, "My lord Maedhros, I bring word and greeting from Lord Glorfindel of Eregion."

NPC talk and decisions for next update:

Dark Wood Orcs:
After a full week of dark feasts and human sacrifices there was nothing left of Woodmen Town, the small village that hosted the famous annual fair; the trees were cut down, the huts burned and the poor souls from there suffered in agony while being forced to serve both as entertainment and as training targets for the soldiers in Grumtash's army. Until they got devoured by the spiderlings.

This set of actions steamed Grumtash into deciding it was time to ramp up the "game" - another woodmen settlement located not far away, Rhosgobel City, would be the next logical target. Conquering that would bring the whole Southern Mirkwood realm under Grumtash direct control. And from there ...

----
Send all forces to attack Southern Mirkwood

Doom'dr'thak:
Bru'tak Gumdum was a pretty good judge of character, and able to delegate command to those worthy. He was also an excellent strategist and had a good plan for expansion; moreever, his plan was not to make the same mistakes of his father and thus to respect the southernmost lands. Orcs are simply not comfortable enough fighting in those conditions.

Not expanding in the south would mean his eyes have to turn in the other directions; with West and North seeming to be the most logical directions.

In the East, before reaching the delta also known as Ethir Anduin, lie the fields of Near Harad, Sutherland and Harondor. And part of those realms are already claimed, his intelligence informs him.

In North, on the other side of the mountain, the realms of Nurn and Upper Nurn can provide sustainable defenses, if Bru'tak Gumdum would be able to conquer them. And what better time to test his newly shaped armies than now? If his intelligence reports are correct, before being able to claim Upper Nurn his armies would clash with a small garrison of humans right after crossing the Southern Pass.

Between West and North, North seems to pique more the interest the ruler of the Doom'dr'thaks, Gumdum. To be able to secure an expansion to the North, the West needed to be free of turmoils. With that in mind, and with the armies set to march towards Upper Nurn, Gumdum wanted to reach the human ruler of Harondor and propose a non agression pact, an action that he deemed to be beneficial to both parties.

Send an envoy bearing gifts to the one called Faramir of the Allied States, and add the following scroll:

"Ruler of the Allied States,

Word of your achievements, courage and great strength has reached my ears and delighted me. I would need such an ally on my side, one with whom I could share the spoils of victory as our unstoppable forces conquer land after land and extend our empires to vast proportions.

We can rule apart but together we can accomplish much, much more. To show my commitment, I have brought some gifts and this Non-Aggression pact that already bears my signature. It is a standard act of commitment to a cause, and a first step towards a conciliation between our two cultures.

I would ask you to sign it. "

And with that, the march towards Upper Nurn began.

East Rho-Drukars:
Glodurin received word from this Dwarf of Withered Heath, now right at the doorstep of his empire. Worrisome news, when a messanger arrives bearing good tidings yet behind him lies an army.

Glodurin did not trust anyone else, be him elf, be him orc, be him human and especially be him dwarf. Redressing his dominion was hard enough before, but now with another ruler knocking on his doorstep he has to thread lightly.

" By me beard, first order is show everyone else dat tha Rho-Drukars mean business by conquerin' Dorwinion. Second order ta show common curtosy by joining dis king in Middle Rhovanion. Ken be ally and nae enemy. Third Order ta prepare the army dat wou be in Dorwinion ta come and aid me in case of things goin hell. "

Fangorn Dwarves:
There was a great celebration in Fangorn, as the armies of Bildur the Smither marched towards the Gap of Isen. The plans for expansion have already begun, and the mountain before the Gap has a lot of potential when it comes to unexplored resources. A settlement can be built here, and can be transformed into a marvel of ingenuousity and industrialization.

Bildur knew that his actions would not be left unquestioned, so he made sure to appease those around him by sending personally hand-crafted jewlery to the rulers of the Noldorin Kingdom of Eregion, the Rhudaur Folk, the orcs of Mirkwood and those of the Old Religion and to the humans of the Alliance of Haradrim and Ithilien Rangers.

A rich hand can secure allies, he thought.

Free people of Lamedon:
Andorgor the Brave received word that in Belfalas a small dispatch of orcs, probably from Andrast, roamed the countryside and destroy the villages in their way.

"A mighty ruler has to step in, and rescue the realm", Andorgor thought. "Let us march forward towards Belfalas, and thus set up a perimeter of defense from one side of the mountain to the sea".

"Send word to the Remnants of the Old Religion, advising them not to cross boundaries and attack unprovoked unless they themselves want to be dragged into a war. As we are the protectors of these realms, our duties lie towards these realms and to the well being of those inhabiting them, be them humans, be them orcs or be them animals of the nature, as long as we all live in peace", Andorgor also said.

----
Send all forces to attack Belfalas
Send a dispatch to the Remnants of Old Religion, advising to stop the uncalled attacks

Remnants of Old Religion:

There is not known what Gruumsh the Infernal, the deity worshipped by the people of Andrast, plans to do in the next days, although a large contingent of forces were amassed at The Stones, a landmark in the North of the realm.

----
All forces are sent at the North of the province, for a possible attack of a nearby province.

Rhudaur Folk:
King Arundar of Rhudaur received the letter from the Witch King of Angmar, confirming the Alliance. What demands have been made will be respected. The elvish settlements on the west are easy pickings for his mighty army of 1500 well-trained humans, and Eastern Arthedain is to be their first target.

This also means a vigilent watch on the Southern boundaries, where the Noldorin Elves of Eregion have established their Kingdom. And more than that, to better secure the South a letter has to be written and sent to Lord Glorfindel. The letter stated the following:

"
Lord Glorfindel,

Enemies are easy to make in today's world, and friends come as a rarity. Let us not cross paths and let the borders between our two nations remain in peace and harmony. I have no quarrels with no Elf, and my soldiers want no high-born blood on their hands. Let us raise a cup together towards peace and understanding!

King Arundar the First,
Ruler of Rhudaur

The Dominion of Glim Firebeard
Glim made the proper arrangements for receiving Glodurin. He had every intention of giving the Dwarf Lord a good impression, but naturally the display was also intended to impress upon the Dwarf that Glim was by far the richest and most powerful of the two Dwarves. Columns of well-armoured Royal Guards flanked the pathway to Glim's lavishly decorated tent, used only when the Dwarves were campaigning. Glim was standing at the edge of the camp, ready to greet Glodurin in person.

'Och, Lord Glodurin, ah bid ye welcome ta me humble encampment. If only we had more time to prepare a proper feast. Nae matter, ah do hope that the roast boar will suffice to sate yer hunger, m'friend.'.

.....

After the feasting was over, Glim found it prudent to commence the more complicated diplomatic matters at hand.

'Ah'll just cut right ta the chase here, Glodurin. We're both Dwarves of action, after all. Ah understand ye've got yer sights set on Dorwinion. As ye might have been able ta tell, that's exactly where me and the lads were heading next. It would be, ah, unfortunate if we were ta have a conflict o' interests over such a small matter.'

Glim fixed his eyes on Glodurin's as he spoke, wanting to maintain an air of friendliness while making sure that Glodurin understood how serious he was.

'Ah would like ta see our two nations united against our foes. Mah runners inform me of Orcs stirring in ol' Mirkwood, and ahm sure ye'll have heard about the expansion of the Humans to the south. Enemies might yet lurk in Mordor, and so time is not on our side. If ye were ta turn yer attentions, say, tawards Western Rhovanion or the Horse Plains, not only would ya secure yer borders before any Orcs or Humans claim them, but ye'd have made a new ally in the Firebeard clan. Ah'd be willing ta swear an Oath o' Eternal Friendship with ye.'

Glim took a moment to stroke his beard before continuing. He was hoping Glodurin wasn't as stubborn as he had been told.

'Naturally, ah can understand that ye might not be wanting ta give up yer goals in Dorwinion. Understand, but not support. Ah would perhaps be forced to seek friends elsewhere, and instead of being owed ah favour, ye might find yerself on yer own.'

With that, he took a sip of ale from the mug in front of him, and waited for Glodurin's reply.

----

Alliance proposed to the East Rho-Drukars, on the condition that they turn their army around and let Glim's forces take Dorwinion.
If the Alliance is accepted, attack Dorwinion with 880 Dwarves led by Glim.
If the Alliance is rejected, attack Western Rhovanion with 880 Dwarves led by Glim.

East Rho-Drukars: - POST 2 of 2
Upon arriving in Middle Rhovanion at the camp where Glim the Dwarf established a meeting between the two, Glodurin felt right from the start the pompous magnificence of the display but decided to appear completely unmoved and emotionally unaffected - even if what he saw deeply perturbed him.

"O Lord Glim, 'tis great joy ta have ya in person in front of me. Even if ta preparations leave me wantin'. 'Tis a camp, after all."

And with that, both rulers went on to the feast.

At the feast Glodurin's unease grew even stronger, especially after hearing of Glim's territorial desires. How would he know about his take on Dorwinion, if even now his soldiers are still on the march? "Spies", he thought.

"Och lad, if only me cou'do tha. 'Tis true dat me soldiers are marchin' ta conquer Dorwinion', but there be nae thing me kinna do bout it right now as tis too late and me soldiers are too far to hear me order to stop. Probably they be now feastin' on dat brave Dorwinion ale. I be willin' ta share a few booty with ya, Lord Glim, ta show me dedication towards ye and yer generosity."

But that reply seemed to be met with a look as black as thunder, Glodurin thought. "Am I one ally short, or an enemy extra?", he added to the mix of thoughts already invading his mind. Then he remembered a previous thought: "Spies. Some heads be rollin' when I return home".

Alliance of Haradrim and Ithilien Rangers:
For Eowyn, the day had been both good and bad. Good, because they had rather unexpected received some beautiful jewelry as a gift from the Fangorn Dwarves, and bad, because she was concerned that her seemingly somewhat deluded husband was going to make a treaty with orcs. She could just not fathom why. What in the world had gotten into Faramir's head?

A sudden thought struck her. Ever since they had formed an alliance with the Haradrim, both Ithilien and Harondor had begun to share some of their regional culture and food. One of the imports from Harondor was a beverage called chocolatl. It was know to affect the mind in strange ways. The Haradrim said that they drank it before going to war, to give themselves strength and stamina.
Has Faramir been drinking this...intoxicating beverage without my knowing? wondered Eowyn...

Faramir read over the message from Gumdum again. He noted the writing style. It was eloquent enough, but still to the point. He was very tempted to sign. He considered what making this pact would do for his people. Up to this point he had had no intention of challenging Doom'dr'thak in battle anyways. So why not sign it? He knew that Eowyn would think he was crazy, but wasn't preserving peace better than preserving one's appearance of sanity? He dipped his pen and signed.

Faramir also thought that a short thank you to Bildur of the Fangorn Dwarves was in order. So he wrote:

Esteemed ruler of the Fangorn Dwarves,
Thank you for your kind gift. We have heard, and now seen first-hand proof, of your people's genius is craftmanship and culture. My people also have a great love for these things. Thanking you again, I would like to express my hope that our two peoples may find a common bond because of this similarity.
Signed,
Faramir son of Denethor II, Prince of Ithilien

Dark Wood Orcs:
Conquering Southern Mirkwood proved to be too easy for Grumtash and his forces. In Rhosgobel now lie only fires, and no more birds and no more trees. Marching forward, Grumtash found the tower of Dol Guldur. He heard stories of what happened here in the past, and this brought a new sense of power to him; he who controls Dol Guldur controls what lies in Dol Guldur. He could feel the strength emanating from that place ...

While resting and pondering on his new exploits he received, curiously enough, a courier. Bringing gifts! Oh, how tasty ... Any gifts mean that the owner would be rich, and richness greatly attracts him. He grabbed the gifts and killed the courier, but not before divulging the origin of the gift - the city of Bildur, in Fangorn.

"That's where we will go."

Doom'dr'thak:
The attack in Upper Nurn ran according to his plan, even if part of his soldiers were unfit for battle; not unexperienced, but unfit to command.

Take for example the last battle, where Bru'tak Gumdum charged with the main army while the eastern and western flanks were envisioned to encircle and crush any resistance. While the eastern flank of his attacking force suffered the blunt of the barbarian charge, it stood brave and held its ground; the western flank, however, having nothing else to do than to encircle and crush the enemy had done little to accomplish this goal; it was Bru'tak's keen eye, while in battle, to notice in time the inefficiency of his western guard general, and to send word with new commands, overriding his general's ineptitude. The battle was eventually won, although it could have been so easily lost ...

While after the battle, Bru'tak Gumdum received word in his encampment in Upper Nurn about the acceptance of the Non Aggression Pact by the Prince of Ithilien; this deeply satisfied Bru'tak Gumdum. "No time now to lose the momentum", he thought.

"Rise, my soldiers, and let's ride for Nurn!", he added.

East Rho-Drukars:
After arriving at his capitol, in Eastern Rhovanion, Glodurin sent word to his general in Dorwinion to send, as promised, a few booty from his newly conquered province to Glim.

He expected some word from Glim the Dwarf ... after the recent discussion things were a bit cold between the two. The alarming possibility of spies at his court made him even more uneasy. "A spy today, an assassin tomorrow", he thought.

"Tis kin swi' eithar way", he added. "Brin' all me soldiers in Dorwinion ta our capital and leave me a garrison ta guard meh barrels of wine" ... "This noch, prepare ta ride for Horse Plains!"

----
Attack Horse Plains with all forces.

Fangorn Dwarves:
Bildur received just a few replies from all the emmissaries he sent with gifts. But the preparations to transform the Gap of Isen into a marvel of technology is on the way, and significant progress has already been achieved. Miracles can happen when you reward your builders with enough gold to satisfy 3 generations. But more trees were needed. And the Wold and Foothills province just at the verge of Fangorn can provide the influx of trees needed to continue the construction.

Free people of Lamedon:
After clearing the remainder of Belfalas from orcs, the realm was somewhat secure. But receiving no reply from the orcs of the Old Religion was an ill amen, Angordor considered. The vulcanic nature of those orcs, he thought, can make the borders too unstable and the men too edgy when it comes to protecting the realm.

There's a need for expansion, still. To the west lie the shores of Anfalas, and to the east lieth the realm of Lebennin. Securing Anfalas can bring Lamedon's Kingdom right at the doorsteps of those fanatics, but it also means a swift strike on their capitol, if the tension escalates. Securing the east could bring Lamedon in direct contact with the Alliance of Haradrim and Ithilien Rangers. The two nations have had no direct contact before, and that has to change.

"Humans understand humans", Angordor the Brave thought. "But these humans ... are an interesting sort of humans. Huge war-like creatures, overly-bred prodigies and what I like to call modified skins are all part of Faramir's armies. What kind of ruler needs to make a pact with .. the devil, just to secure a pool of loyal .. creatures? Are they even loyal?", Angordor asked himself.

"I would very much not like to see this theory put to the test. And if anything, if anyone is able to bring this mix together, then that someone is worthy to be an ally of mine. So let us test the waters and send a peace-bearing emmissary to Faramir, in Ithilien. Or wherever he is now .. and see what he has to say to the emmissary's words."

Send a peace-bearing emmissary to the Alliance of Haradrim and Ithilien Rangers.

Remnants of Old Religion:
The orcs of the Old Religion conquered Old Pukel Land, mostly a swampland of mysterious creatures. The forces of Gruumsh the Infernal continue to grow stronger as the Pukel men saw the light of the Old Religion, and embraced the fires willingly; there is great wisdom to be learned when one is willing to open his eyes. There is purpose. And as each day passes, more and more understand this.

Two envoys, from two different realms, came to the Halls of Ulond. One, bearing gifts. The other, bearing a message of warning. To both, Gruumsh replied. And sealed the replies with what appeared to be a magical ink, so only the hands of Bildur and Angordor could open and only their eyes can read.

And the army marches forward. To .. Anfalas?

Attack Anfalas with all forces?

Rhudaur Folk:
The soldiers of Rhudaur successfully conquered Eastern Arthedain, but by doing so they might have awoken some sleeping forces. They expected to find a few like-minded men settlements while marching west, people that could join forces with them ... but what they found were old, abandoned and forgotten villages; what was a once proud and ancient settlement of men - the village of Bree, was now just a pale and dusty version of what happens after centuries of war; there was no living soul on these grounds of what appeared to be the final graveyard of a long, rich but forgotten history. Things would have remained still as grim if not, upon arriving at Weathertop, they were met with blazing arrows and warcries : what remained of the watch tower in Weathertop had awoken and left no room for talk - and such, the war to claim Eastern Arthedain began.

After a few nights and after some serious casualties (mostly because of the surprise attack by the barbarians), King Arundar's forces managed to conquer Weathertop and all of its surroundings; now all Eastern Arthedain was theirs.

Not wanting to attack even further in the West - or at least, not yet - King's Arundar attention now turned to Ettenmoors, a province he thought to be a lonely region, mostly void of life; an easy picking for his injured soldiers. Even if arriving in Ettenmoors in the given time would mean crossing a great distance, at least part of their way would intersect with Rhudaur and the men could visit their families.

Alliance of Haradrim and Ithilien Rangers:
Faramir sat in his make-shift study pensively. News of army movements were being brought to him by all his scouts. It appeared that he wasn’t the only one to fancy a larger backyard.

He considered what he had done so far and what possibilities for the future were. He needed more peanut fields, obviously. His mumak forces had sired an entire new generation, and the kids weren’t any less hungry than the parents were. He also needed more cocoa fields. Faramir wondered absentmindedly if Éowyn had discovered his chocolate addiction yet…

Thinking of his wife, and thinking of fields, an idea sparked into that souped-up Númenórean brain of his. It was actually quite obvious. He wondered why he hadn’t thought of it before. Maybe it was the cocoa affecting his brain? But anyways, on with the plan!
He pulled out a fresh sheet of parchment and dipped his pen with flair.

These mumakil were going to get more peanuts!
~
An emissary was sent to Glim Firebeard, with a message scrawled in Faramir’s own, distinctive hand;
"Esteemed Sir, Lord Firebeard of the Withered Heath,

I hope you will excuse my lack of eloquence in this missive, but this is a matter in which I believe it is better to communicate straightforwardly than to worry about elegant wording. So I will get to the point. And my point is; I believe the time has come for us to ally our forces.

The reason for this is because our people share common bonds, albeit belonging to different races. We both have loyal, strong, fighting people. We both are favorites of the Gods. I have noted also that you show interest in the great work of expansion; the growth of territories in the goal of prospering and promoting people and culture. The people of Ithilien also share this desire to grow.

Hearing from the international news that Lord Glodurin of the East Rho-Drukars has refused your alliance, I thought that you might want to form an alliance with another, more prominent force on the field, namely the Haradrim and Ithilien Rangers. We could combine our greatness. We would be unstoppable. Of course you are wondering what I want for my people out of this alliance. Actually, I have only one goal, and it is more of a personal wish. I, having notable ties to the people of the Mark, being married to a Rohirric princess, wish to join my territory with theirs. But enough about me. You must have goals for your people. And I would be only too happy to help you accomplish them as your ally.

Of course, if I have mis-judged your wishes, which I admit is well possible, please accept my humble apology. Feel free to negotiate with me more on this matter before making a final decision. Of course, I would appreciate it if your Lordship would reply soon, as my army waits for your decision before acting.

No matter what your choice, I beseech you to accept my accompanying gift of ten pounds of the finest chocolate; a Haradrim delicacy.

Signed,
Faramir of Ithilien"

-------------
Welcome the emissary from Lamedon.
Send emissary with gifts and message to Glim Firebeard.

Maedhros:
Maedhros look out from The White Tower in Southern Arthedain. His elvish eyes could see the Easterlings from Rhudaur bustling in there newly claimed territory and Orcs of Angmar in the north. His heart flamed with the memories of The Nírnaeth Arnoediad, he new there ruthlessness, he new they trample over and take pride in killing the Hobbits of the Shire. He would protect them.
-----------------
Move 860 into the Shire, rid it of the unwanted Barbarians.

Angmar:
The Witch King was in an anger "Where is that petty Gothmog? I sent him for more orcsssss long ago! Send a crow. Tell him to get here ssssoon, or he will pay with his life."
... back in Angmar ...
"Get a move on maggots! We have meat for the taking!" Gothmog shouted at the sniveling orcs.

All of my army to Western Arthedain.

The Noldorin Kingdom of Eregion:
The emissary bowed, saying, "My lord Glorfindel will be pleased. I am sure there shall be further correspondence between us. Farewell." he said, heading back to Hollin to tell Glorfindel the good news. Back in Hollin, Glorfindel had received the peace-bearing envoy from Rhudaur and had given them much wine and meat, remaining friendly but noncommittal. In their inebriated state, they would be able to remember little. Sending them back to their lord loaded with elven gifts, he received the good news that Maedhros had accepted, and now looked to secure his borders and increase Eregion's lands.

Looking out from his camp, he summoned his battle commander, Saerondr and ordered him to collect a force and attack Northern Cardolan. The Barrow-Downs were much feared by men and hobbits, but elves had walked under much more dangerous leaves. However, Saerondr was ordered to go too deep into the forest without a significant force. He was asked recommended to seek out the one called Tom Bombadil.

Receiving the gifts from the Fangorn Dwarves, he admired the necklace and sent his emissary forth once more.

The emissary, coming to their realm, gave a short bow and began. "My lord Glorfindel of Eregion greets you, Fangorn Dwarves. In response to your gift, he has bidden me to deliver to you an elven sword made by our master smiths. Long ago, elves and dwarves worked in union to create many a treasure."

-------
Summary:

Send 845 Elves with Saerondr Tarembor(Hero) to attack Northern Cardolan

Send back peace-bearing envoy drunk, with no promises, but loaded with gifts.

Extend greetings to Fangorn Dwarves and offer a gift of a sword to leader.

The Dominion of Glim Firebeard
The meeting with the Glodurin hadn't gone the way Glim would've liked. The stubborn Dwarf had refused to grant Glim the territory he desired. This idea that there was no time to turn the troops around was, of course, nonsense. Glim knew it, Glodurin knew it, and they both knew that the other Dwarf knew it. Yet formality dictated that they play this little game. It was in the middle of these thoughts that the message from Lord Faramir arrived.

'Wots this then? Ye came from Ithilien lad? Good on ye! 'ere, hand me that there note ye've got.'

As he read the message, an increasingly wide smile spread across Glim's face. He had actually intended to reach out to these Humans himself, but they had beaten him to the punch.

'Listen 'ere laddie, can ye wait fer a moment while ah get a reply sorted? Ye must be hungry, too. Donnae ye worry, we'll sort ye out.' Glim told the messenger, then turned to one of his aides. 'BAELOG! See that the lad gets the finest port we can provide, and get him a mug 'o ale while yer at it. Oh, ah... The 'special' brew fer dignitaries an' friends.'

The 'special' brew was actually watered-down Dwarven ale, because the other races of Middle Earth were notorious for their poor ability to drink proper ale. Of course the messenger didn't know this, and there was no need to tell him either.

Glim immediately got to work on a reply to Faramir:

"To the Lord Faramir of Ithilien

I received your messenger, and he could not have arrived at a better time. You are quite correct that negotiations with the East Rho-drukars didn't go as planned, much to my regret. I have not given up hope on talking some sense into Glodurin, but he's a stubborn one.

It would please me greatly if our two peoples were to unite in friendship. Such friendships have been of great value to my people in the past. I understand your ambitions towards Rohan, and find it unnecessary to explain my own ambitions for the Iron Hills - I'm quite sure you've already figured out as much yourself.

I have scouts searching through Mirkwood for signs of Orcish activity. We hear of increasing aggression from bands of refugees from the human villages there, refugees that I'm sure are heading towards your lands at the moment. These Orcs could be a concern for both of us.

I have sent a small measure of my appreciation for your so-called chocolate back with your messenger. I hope you shall find it to your taste, and that it can be a sign of our continued friendship.

Yours, Glim Firebeard."

'That's that. Baelog, get tha scriba ta make this, yakno, readable for this Faramir manling. And send some guards and a casket of ale back with tha messenger lad. We've made new friends. Ah'll also have ye send a note ta Glodurin, with what we talked aboot.'

The message was another offer of alliance to Glodurin, on the condition that he cede Dorwinion to Glim - in exchange for Western Rhovanion, of course. Glim wasn't trying to cheat Glodurin out of his lands, after all, he simply wanted to consolidate. Although, with the alliance established with the people of Ithilien, slightly more pressure could now be applied to the upstart Dwarf lord.

"Tae Lord Glodurin.

Dissappointed at yer refusal, as ye well know. Ah have just heard from this manling in Ithilien, and offered him mah friendship. Ye finds yerself in a tight spot, with only wasteland ta yer south. So ah have a new proposal for ye. A territorial swap, where ah give ye Western Rhovanion, and ye give me Dorwinion. This would let ye have more lands ta take, as well as the eternal friendship of tha Firebeard clan.

Signed,

Glim Firebeard"

Aside from these messages, Glim was still waiting on word from the scouts sent to Mirkwood. He was beginning to worry that something had gone terribly wrong in there...

NPC talk and decisions for next update:

Dark Wood Orcs:
Once in Anduin Vales, Grumtash marveled at the sight of little people and their chaotic running in circles! And slippery bodies. Those darn spears mostly missed when thrown at their targets! And their burrowing skills was fantastic. Grumtash was a bit envious ... so he left none but three such small creatures. His new playthings!

On another note, Grumtash had an epiphany: if people are sending him gifts, then he must be of utmost importance around these parts. Which is extremely correct, no doubt. But what if there were other, lesser, important players nearby? The thought never crossed his mind, until now ... but now .. he feels as if he is watched. As if his moves have been studied. Maybe its the adrenaline, after all. A bloodbath does that, sometimes ...

" Take a few soldiers to roam the realm, and see who's important around. Maybe you won't find any, but its worth knowing. This message ((the dwarf's gift)) might have been sent to others, too. But those replies might have been different ... than mine."

----
Send a few detachments of soldiers towards Angmar, Rhudaur Folk, AHIR and Glim Firebeard's Dominion.
They can be interacted with (greeted, friended, bribed, attacked, ambushed, captured, killed etc.)
Attack Wold & Foothills with all soldiers

Doom'dr'thak:
Conquering Nurn and Upper Nurn left the path open towards Gorgoroth, the next logical choice of action.

"Although ... there is a gist," Bru'tak Gumdum said.
"Our ability to recruit new forces is directly tied to how many provinces we command; we simply can't take and train orcs from where there are none!

And conquering such a mighty province requires lots of soldiers. Soldiers we do not have right now, after that disastrous attack on Upper Nurn!

There are two possible paths, now: either we wait until we can recruit another round of soldiers, and then attack ... or attack provinces nearby, to get more territories ... to get more soldiers.

Which is more efficient, I wonder?

Squire! I am calling the Small Council. There's matters to attend to."

----
No army movement.

East Rho-Drukars:
Glodurin received word from Glim, but that's not all what Glodurin received; news of orcs sighted at the southern borders! Ohhh, and if there's anyone that he distrusts more than humans, elves or other dwarves ... they are the orcs!

Naturally, Glodurin felt his realm threathened, making him view the message from Glim with other eyes.

He wrote as reply:
"Kin'Glim, me have answer to ya proposal. I be willing to trade realms, but see ... it puts me in a bad, bad place.

Dunno know about ya, but me have heard stories of wha' happens in Mirkwood .. why would me be willin' to border Mirkwood? For ta friendship? Ha!

I be willin to bear the blunt of ta enemy and switch keys to province, if ya be me ally and if ya also tribute ... say ... 500 of your finest dwarves, in my guard. Ta guard Middle Rhovanion, for sure.

What say ya? "

----
All forces to Eastern Rhovanion
Send dispatch back to Glim, with the proposal to switch territories if alliance is agreed and if Glim tributes 500 Dwarves to East Rho-Drukars

Fangorn Dwarves:
Bildur's realm is now a gem of technology and wealth; from the smiths of Fangorn, to the mighty fort in Isen and to the rich forests in the Foothills the realm is filled with burgeois workers, willing to work for the promised richness.

The assets need also guarding, so a permanent guard has been dispatched towards the Wold & Foothills, towards Fangorn and towards the Gap; the remainder of the army is set to attack the mountains of Moria, or more specifically, the Redhorn Gate. There they hope to find enough mithril to make the whole world shine ...

----
Leave 160 Dwarves in Wold & Foothills to coordinate the extraction of trees
Leave 160 Dwarves in Fangorn to guard the smithing grounds of Bildur
Send 160 Dwarves in the Gap of Isen, to coordinate the construction of the fort
Attack with 480 Dwarves the Redhorn Gate

Free people of Lamedon:
Things are different now, in Lamedon. Having ownership of most, if not all, realms beneath the white mountains gives you a different perspective on life. Lebennin, for example, is a last bastion of barbarians around these realms, as after Lebennin lie the realms of the Alliance, to which Angordor received positive replies;

Things do feel different ...

----
Attack Lebennin with all forces.

Remnants of Old Religion:
The mindset of Gruumsh the Infernal is that Minhiriath needs to be conquered, as the religion has to spread to elvish speaking realms as well. Playing with fire is tricky, especially since this course of action can awake sleeping giants. But there is no cause more just than expanding the wisdom of old to those worthy to embrace it!

Sending a message to the Noldorin Kingdom of Eregion and to the realms of Maedhros:
"Leaders of elves,

Great hope ahead! My forces ride towards Minhiriath, and once conquered, I will transform it into a marvelous stepping ground, assisting the progress towards conversion for all the elves that lie after Minhiriath. You are at the borders, so you have to wait the least amount of time to understand the joys and satisfacton of having a real purpose to aim for."

----
Attack Minhiriath with all forces
Send emissaries to the Noldorin Kingdom of Eregion and to Maedhros

Rhudaur Folk:
Rhudaur under King Arudar has been quite successfull; from just being the King of Rhudaur, his expansion now holds as owned grounds the provinces of Eastern Arthedain and Ettenmoors.

Upper Rhudaur, even in name, bears great pride towards many men in Rhudaur - if able to be conquered.

But conquering is not all Arundar has to do, in order for his Folk to survive in today's world. Allegiances have to be also renewed.

----
Attack Upper Rhudaur with 1430 humans
Send as tribute to Angmar 400 humans (transformed as 320 Orcs via point #4 in the FAQ)

Lindon Rebels:
There is little known about the Lindon Rebels, as of now; because of what appeared to be a civil war, part of the provinces under Lindon's earlier rule broke off and other provinces aligned with the new ruler - all in all, a new force is born.

The ruler of Lindon Rebels is Rog the Wrathhammer, a craftsman with a curious name and with a great hatred towards Orcs. So much hatred that, in fact, the only known actions of the Lindon Rebels were to declare as enemies-on-sight all hailing from the provinces of Angmar and Rhudaur Folk.

Nothing else is known, so far. But one does wonder about the back story of Rog!

----
Move 530 elves to River Lhun and 530 elves to Numeriador
Declared Angmar and Rhudaur Folk as enemies-on-sight (a war is at any time possible)

Lindon Rebels:
UPDATE ON Lindon Rebels!

The Civil War in old Lindon has subsided and the Lindon Rebels under Rog lost the fight against the loyalist of Lindon's ruler.

Some provinces have switched hands, Northern and Southern Lindon have again pledged support to the Kingdom of Lindon, alongside with Blue Mountain.

The Kingdom of Lindon has a force of 1080 elves located in Northern Lindon, the capital.

----
Lindon Rebels have ceased to exist.

Maedhros: - post 1 of 3
It was clear to the elves of Eryn Vorn; the world was restless. Armies moved in from all corners of Endor, the Children of Illuvatar would soon have to face an evil not seen in an age. Maedhros decided that aggression was not the key, he had made that mistake long ago.

----
Move 260 soldiers to from Eryn Vorn into Southern Artherdain and then into The Shire.

Angmar:
The messenger returns to the Witch King. "He is coming master, as fast as the maggots will move."
"Good...." hisses back the Witch King. "I would like you to take a messssage to the elvesss. Tell them we would not like to fight at the moment, but rather we would like to have a... discussion with them."

Back in Angmar
Gothmog whips a set of sniveling orcs who are moving slowly. "Get a move on maggots! We're going to the Witch King, and he does not like to be delayed." He then turns to a messenger. "Tell the petty human king that his gift was received, and we thank him for it. Bring him some orcish weapons in return."

----
Consolidation my forces in Western Arthedain
Messenger to Maedhros bearing a message of non-agression, and a meeting if wished.
Messenger to King Arundar, bringing gifts, in reward for the troops.

The Kingdom of Lindon:
Finally. This was the thought that passed through Ecthelions mind when he was looking over what was recently the last camp of self-proclaimed Lindon rebels. As sad as it may be, as soon as he left for his mission to the South, a group of hot-headed lunatics decided that current politics of Lindon was unsatisfactory... And so they used the moment to change it. What were their plans - that Ecthelion didn't know. Still, the idea of elves fighting with elves was dreadful to him, for the memories of the Kinslaying in Aman haven't disappeared from his memories. And even though "Lindon Rebels" - how they were called by loyalists - kept aggression at its lowest, such actions were unforgivable to the Lord of the Fountain.

But he didn't have much time for such contemplation. One problem solved didn't mean that the Kingdom was safe. He has lost quite some time and resources trying to restore the rule. Now his regular troops were down to only 1080 elven warriors, stationed all in his capital in Northern Lindon, and reports of Angmar rapid expansion were coming in every day. A few alarming letters have also arrived from far east.

- I wish I had the time... said Ecthelion, putting down papers regarding cultural events in the restored kingdom. Instead, he had to write a few different letters. One, to Lord Glorfindel and the other to Lord Mahedros the Tall - rulers of two other elven kingdoms of Middle Earth. Two exact letters, signed and sealed according to royal standards, had the following message inside:

"My dear friends,
It pleases my heart to infirm you that my rule was restored. Still, I do apologize for my absence and relative inactivity because these events could have been avoided.
Our race is fading. Our powers diminish. The old world is leaving us, I feel it in the water, I smell it in the earth (OOC: lol)... The darkness is rising again. My scouts report Angmar's movements in the North and strange events in the East. For our love to this land, I urge you to forge an alliance among all three of us - and tells me my heart that it would be the last one that honours true strength of the Firstborn of Middle-Earth".
We cannot delay, for the Enemy may be again upon us.
May the grace of the Valar protect us!
Ecthelion of the Fountain"

Of course, he could have tried to use osanwe, but something prevented him from doing so.
--
Even though negotiations were important, Ecthelion also had another issue to solve.
- Prepare our units to move out, let's reclaim our lost lands - such an order was given to his troops.
And so 1080 Elven warriors have marched from the capital to River Lhun

----
Attack River Lhun with all forces

Maedhros: - post 2 of 3
The message from the Witch King was received with caution and scepticism. But that soon faaded, these Orcs seemed different, they appeared to have culture and tastes. They were not swine, and they rather liked wine. No meeting of embassies was needed, Maedhros mumbled of a bad experiance, "Fingon", giant eagles, and lost extremities. But the alliance was agreed to, the Orcs were sent home tipsy on wine from a fine dine. But one thing irked Maedhros: these Orcs talked of an alliance with the Rhudaur Folk; Easterlings. Maedhros had been betrayed by Easterlings long ago. There was to be no alliance between the Noldor and Easterlings in any capacity. So the alliance was to be agreed on by one condition: the alliance with Rhudaur was to be abolished, along with their armies, and that all conquered land be divide evenly.
----
Agree to alliance/non aggresion pact, without meeting of embassies, on the condition that all alliances with Rhudaur be abandoned. Aswell as the eradication of Rhudaurs armies.

Maedhros: - post 2 of 3
To Ecthelion of the Fountain,

My dear friend; how long has it been? I fear I betrayed your people on the shores of Arvernien since we last met. I am terribly sorry and forever in your debt. I do not go a day with out regretting my actions, I still can not find my brother (OOC: Maybe he is in Beleriand and The Lands to The North (yes I that is my nation)).
The Firstborn shall unit again, and the evil men shall fall.
But Angmar shows no intention of aggression, and I do not desire to fight the Old Foe once more.
Praise Eru,
Maedhros the Tall.

----
Agree to alliance with Ecthelion in Lindon.

The Dominion of Glim Firebeard
Glim was furious. This upstart Dwarf had the nerve to request FIVE HUNDRED of his finest soldiers? Muttering in his beard, Glim turned to other matters at hand. The host had been assembled, and he knew reinforcements from the Withered Heath would be on the move. It was time to strike. He nodded to the hornblower, who announced that the Dwarf Lord would speak.

Friends! Kinsmen! Fer too long we've been expelled from our ancestral home. No more! Today we seize the Iron Hills from the uncouth barbarians that would seek to deny us!

Glim let the roar of approval wash over him before signalling the hornblower again, this time to announce the march. He would deal with this petty Dwarf later...

----
All troops to attack Iron Hills, led by Glim Firebeard.

NPC talk and decisions for next update:

Dark Wood Orcs:
The fight in the Wold & Foothills was nothing less than magnificent. Nothing beats fighting a real, serious, all-stakes fight - against Dwarves. And winning. Because, there's no way else to put it. Winning. Even if .. as his scouts inform him, he may have received an unexpected help by another Orc, that attacked another of the Fangorn's provinces in the same turn.

"An orc? Magnificent! Although ... they might be aiming for the gold themselves! Ohh .. crush them! Crush the dwarves!"

... later, when asserting that the forces of Dark Orcs aren't enough to capture by themselves the capital of Fangorn, Grumtash had a clever solution: ally, if possible, with the Orc. And crush them afterwards if they so even plan to grab any gold.

Grumtash wondered when the scouts he sent will return .... "if no-one returns soon, then most likely no-one's of importance near me and the scouts had to travel too far to reach any of interest. Which is a good thing ..."
----
Send alliance request to Remnants of the Old Religion. If agree, ask to support with attacking Fangorn. If agree, attack with all forces

Doom'dr'thak:
Bru'tak Gumdum's Small Council came to a conclusion: next attack would be on Gorgoroth.

All the army will be conserved, and trained to succeed in such a task.

Expecting new recruits, before attacking.

East Rho-Drukars:
Glodurin received no reply from his envoy to Glim. And Glodurin felt ... isolated. Too isolated. The humans near his borders, the orcs near his borders and .. the silent dwarf, at his borders.

If Glim offers no reply, then Glodurin should not stay idle!

"Send word toward da Alliance of Haradrim and Ithilien Rangers - inquire about thy future plans, nd assure em dat our expansion dinno involve nay of their current realms. Extend a offer of friendship towards them."

"Send word ta the orcs ... inform dem dat our expansion dinna involve nay of their current realm, nd extend n offer of friendship towards th... ".
Glodurin did not finish his last phrase, as he was interrupted by one of his servants. "What'sit??!", he said.
"Sir'Glodurin, there be orcs from Dark Woods waiting in da main hall, askin' ta talk with ya.", the servant replied.
"Oh be daaamnnn in all languages what they be wantin?! Hastly lad, take me to them!"

After a brief conversation, Glodurin informed the orcs that he's merely the ruler of a small conservative nation, with no serious plans of expansions, other than reclaiming lost lands. Certainly not a nation of interest ...

After the orcs left, Glodurin called all his council and told them what happened. He also informed everyone to keep quiet of what happened, although he feared of spies ... it happened once, why couldn't it happen again?
"Last thing me needs now is explanations ... safeguarding me kingdom is paramount. Did what me had ta do ...."

Fangorn Dwarves:
Conquering the mines of Moria was a great feat, and one that was the last piece to be integrated to Bildur's masterplan. But oh, to what cost ... news of fighting, news of defeat ... losing the Gap of Isen - to the orcs, and losing the forests of Wold - to another orcs! The armies in Moria are isolated, and the capital is guarded by just a small force ... enough to protect it against a frontal attack, as Bildur's siege engines are capable of fending off any daring attackers. But .. there's no way the capital would hold against a fight on two fronts ...

Ask of help from nearby nations, if anyone is able to receive word and send an alleviating force!
----
Send pleas of help to nearby nations (especially to the Noldorin Kingdom of Eregion and to the Alliance of Haradrim and Ithilien Rangers)

Free people of Lamedon:
Conquering Lebennin meant that all that's beneath the mountains is now under Angordor's rule. There's no need for further expansion, now that the orcs moved their eyes elsewhere, and humans are on the eastern borders.

And when there isn't war, there's plenty of time to pray ...
----
No army movements.

Remnants of Old Religion:
Gruumsh the Infernal knew that Minhiriath was his target, yet something, unexplicably changed ... the need to punish the dwarves of the Gap, for not replying to his letter, to his request. This ought to be a warning to any not embracing the righteous path.

Coincidence made it that, in the same time, another part of Fangorn's realm got captured, by another band of orcs. And, as coincidences come in pairs, not long has passed and Gruumsh the Infernal received word from the one named Grumtash, of the Dark Woods, about an alliance to strike, and to finish the dwarves.

And this is fine. Minhiriath can wait. Punishment can not.

----
Agree to alliance with Dark Wood Orcs.
Attack with all forces with the help of the Dark Wood Orcs army the province of Fangorn.

Rhudaur Folk:
Arthedain, Ettenmoors, Rhudaur and Upper Rhudaur - King Arundar has enough to be proud of. The protection of the Witch King of Angmar, and the reassurances he received after his latest tribute meant that he can now turn around, and respect the last part of the deal - to declare war on any elves!

This proved to be easy, considering that the elves of Hollin didn't even bother to write any replies to his dispatches. The Witch King is right ... elves are nothing more than a nuisance!

Send word to the Witch King and inform them that we are ready to start war, let they propose to us a target!

On a side note, scouts were sighted - orcish scouts, and not from Angmar - but from the forests to the east!
"Welcome, orcish friends! You are talking with King Arundar, ruler of Rhudaur folk and ally of the Witch King, the most mighty of your race!

You ask of the might of my forces? This is it, I say! The might of my friends can become your might, if you so choose to tell your master that Rhudaur is friends with orcs, with any orc."

The Noldorin Kingdom of Eregion:
Lord Glorfindel grinned as he read the name on the letter. Lord Ecthelion of the Fountain, former lord of Gondolin, and his best friend. Ecthelion who had slain 4 Balrogs, one of which being Gothmog, Lord of the Balrogs himself. He quickly penned a letter in response.
"My dear Ecthelion,

It is good to see that you have prevailed against these rebels, though it is always a sad thing to see elves fighting against elves. Maedhros and I have already formed an alliance, and it will be my pleasure to welcome you into this alliance of elven nations. The orcs, the humans, the dwarves, they have all forgotten the fury and might of the Eldar. Let us relight that flame, and long may it burn!

The darkness is indeed rising. Here among us now are three Lords of the Eldar who have not forgotten our might, whom have seen the glory of Valinor. Let us unsheathe our swords and fight. And if this is to be our end, let it be in a blaze of glory, the light of the Eldar shining in our eyes, our swords keen and our armor glittering like stars. It is my hope that we shall stand side by side on the battlefield once more."

May the grace of the Valar guide us,

Lord Glorfindel of the Golden Flower."

He then moved his eyes towards Rhudaur, sending a letter to declare war, sending an army of 1000 elves led by Lord Saerondr soon after to attack the capital of Rhudaur. It was indeed time to strike. Rhudaur had claimed the fair city of Imladris to be theirs. They were sorely mistaken, and so, he would strike.

He had also received a letter from some pagans to the south. Scoffing but recognizing that he did not need another enemy, he replied.

"To Gruumsh the Infernal,

You are welcome to attempt conversion to your 'Old Religion'. Be aware, however, that I beheld Valinor in all its glory myself. If or when your prophets are asked to leave, I expect them to do so with grace and dignity. Your prophets may enter my lands for religious reasons, not for spying out the land nor my forces. Any attempts to do so will be met with appropriate force.
Sincerely,

Lord Glorfindel"
-------------
Send letter to Ecthelion, accepting alliance. Send letter to Gruumush, welcoming him to spread religion. Declare war on Rhudaur and attack their capital with 1000 Elves, led by Hero.

Maedhros: post 1 of 2
Maedhros glared afar from the top of bag-end it wasn't tall but his elvish eyes could see far. And was clear to him that Rhudaur had learned of his and Gothmog's plans, as they had put all their eggs in one basket. 1480 soldiers in Upper Rhudaur, they were preparing for all-out war with Angmar, and they knew the Elves were to far to aid their new allies. Maybe they had learned from the elvish forces that attacked their capital? Maybe from Angmar? But the knew alliance deserved the benefit of the doubt. Maedhros decided to move, 880 soldiers were to attack Eastern Arthedain the moment Angmar attacked Upper Rhudaur. It was to be like the Nírnaeth Arnoediad, crushed between hammer and anvil, but now Man had no allies and could turn to none for aid.

----

The Dominion of Glim Firebeard
The feasting lasted for three days, at which point even the hardiest Dwarf was drunk to the point of passing out. Noone could really believe that they'd recaptured the Iron Hills so rapidly, and every Dwarf in the nation was filled with a newfound enthusiasm. Most of all, the Dwarves were ecstatic at the rapid rise to power fuelled by their leader.

On the fourth day, Glim finally had a chance to escape from the frenzied Dwarves chanting his name. There was, after all, still official business to conduct. A group of Orcs had been captured near the border with Southern Mirkwood, and Glim had to decide what to do with them. There was also the issue with Glodurin. However arrogant the Dwarf was, Glim didn't really want to wage war on his kin. However, he also really didn't like the idea of giving the Dwarf enough troops to wage war on him. Finally, there was the matter of the capital. With their newfound wealth, the holding in the Withered Heath was insufficient. The question was whether to move the capital to the a more sufficient location, or to simply construct a new Hold in the Heath.

Glim decided to start with Glodurin. Relations had, after all, been cordial so far. He sat down and started penning a letter to the other Dwarf Lord.

"Ta Glodurin o' tha East Rho-Drukars.

A pardon fer not replying sooner. As yer may have heard, ah had some business in the Iron Hills. Ah do appreciate tha difficult position that yer in, but 500 of mah finest Dwarves seems too much. In exchange fer a territory swap as previously discussed, ah'd be happy to offer ye 250 o' mah finest, as well as an Oath of Friendship ta last our lifetimes. When yer mull this over in yer noggin, keep in mind that, with no enemies nearby, mah troops would be able ta move te yer aid in any trouble ye might have. So even if yer don't get all yer 500 troops, ye'd still have more than that, ready ta aid ye in yer time of need.

Ah hope ta hear from ye soon.

- Glim Firebeard"

As he finished, he had finally decided what to do with the Orcs. Orcs were the filth of Middle Earth, vermin no more fit to live than rats. As he hoped to have secured the alliance with the East Rho-Drukars, he saw no real need to maintain a false sense of friendship with these Orcs. So a message was sent to the leader of the garrison where the Orcs were held.

"Captain Baelog,

See ta it that yer captives be dispatched. All except tha leader. Instead remove his eyes and tongue, and throw him back in tha forest as a warning. Whether he makes it back ta his nest is less important.

- Glim"

Finally Glim decided to reach out to the humans, and offer them aid in their plans. He knew about their ambitions for taking Rohan, and reckoned that a powerful ally like that would help secure the south and east for good.

"Mah Lord Faramir,

Ah am pleased ta announce the retaking of tha Iron Hills. With this, ambitions fer me own people have been reached. Ah remember what yer said about Rohan, and see yer position is a little... finicky. Ah would be happy ta march me army south ta yer aid, should yer need it.

- Glim Firebeard"

With all that taken care of, Glim rejoined the feasting. When they were done, the army would march south. For now, all this writing had left him thirsty for more ale.

Kill captured Orcs from the Dark Woods Orcs, but leave one alive with no eyes or tongue to stagger back to his leader if he can.
Message to Haradrim and Ithilien Rangers offering aid in capturing Rohan.
Move all troops to Western Rhovanion.

Maedhros: - post 2 of 2
Maedhros' armies were on the move, but Angmar was stagnant? Had they betrayed him? No, it was too early to believe that. They must be rallying their forces, yes; that must be it. We should do the same, make sure Rhudaur is demolished in one fell swoop, only one. They shall move at the same time. Separately, but together in mind.

----
DO NOT attack Easern Arthedain this turn, instead bring all 400 troops from Eryn Vorn to The Shire ASAP and prepare for war with Rhudaur.

The Kingdom of Lindon:
Ecthelion was glad to receive positive news from both Maedhros and Glorfindel.
His messengers also reported about Glim Firebeard reclaiming back the Iron Hills. Ecthelion, remembering times when Elves and Dwarves lived together in harmony and mutual respect, was wiling to try to bring those times back.
"- Send this latter with congratulations and a few pieces of jewelry from my personal collection to Glim Firebeard. Those made in Gondolin by my clansmen. "
The People of the Fountain of the South were masters of work with silver and diamonds and the quality of work of Gondolindrim remained quite a standard even today. While issuing orders, the elf thought - As a token of good will these jewels will do, but I wonder if dwarves will understand the history behind them. Well, maybe Glim Firebard will surprise me... It's rare for a dwarf to know the history of elves, apart from Silmarils...
During these days rumors came to Lindon about a peace pact between Maedhros and Angmar. Ecthelion, of course, thought of them just that - stupid rumors. After all that happened to his family, Mardhros surely wouldn't peace with an enemy. But then... Lord of the Fountain wasn't sure, and now with weakened Lindon he had to be careful. Let us see what happens next and then act accordingly. He called in messengers again:
"- And send a short notice to the closest orc-post - "Should you attack Mithlond or Numariador, you will be considered as arch-enemy of the elves. If you, however, wish peace for your orcs, then we could talk". "
What was Ecthelion thinking? Who knows...

NPC talk and decisions for next update:

Dark Wood Orcs:
The Dark Wood orcs got ... how to say ... slightly burned. Grumtash blamed it on his scouts; how could they not have known that those weren't Orcs? Yes, they were hideous, but still ...

There was no alliance. It was just a trick. But Grumtash was smart enough to let the Remnant of the Old Religion forces take the blunt of the attack on Fangorn, with him to ride from the back, and emerge victorious.

But when he saw that no-one attacked ... and moreover, that his scouts noticed that the Old Religion forces aren't even at the borders anymore ... only then he realised.

The capitol can not be attacked. But the mines of Moria were in reach. And at least some dwarves to be masssacred ...

[...]

After the attack on Redhorn Gate (and the obvious victory), Grumtash cursed the day he trusted the Remnants of the Old Religion. If he was a lesser orc, he would have feared them. But, the defenses of Fangorn are now insurmountable, and his eyes have to turn elsewhere.

The message from Rhudaur Folk returned. "Ahh, excellent! Replies from my envoys!", Grumtash mentioned.

----
Grumtash's attack plans are so deeply convoluted that only he knows what he's planning for the next update ...

Doom'dr'thak:
Bru'tak Gumdum is still waiting for his reinforcements.

----
No army movements

East Rho-Drukars:
Glodurin received, at last, the reply from Glim. Reply that came with a force of 250 dwarves.

"Wha' be this? Me fingers dunno count 500 heads. Tis a joke, I wonder?

They not be finest dwarves, bet ... after trainin the, more than half wou'be dead ...

But meh, tis exactly what I needed. Mah position is strong enough even with what'll remain of those 250; and meh borders will be defended by strong warriors!

Gimme the papers to sign, for ta alliance with Glim!"

After signing the alliance, Glodurin sent word to Glim;
"Kin Glim,

Accepted the alliance with ya, on good terms.

Ye soldiers be stationed in meh Western Rhovanion. Wha be your plans now, if meh can inquire?
There is so much bread my kingsmen can serve yar armies, and for so much time ...

Besides, so much fightin' seriously left ya forces depleted, from wha I can see .."

----
No army movements.

Fangorn Dwarves:
There was no reply to any of the pleas of help - None! Bildur sweared that this slash will not remain without a response; his smithers and his furnances will not work anymore for the pleasure of work, for the gems and marvels of beauty - they'll work from now on, around the clock, for swords, armors and other, more dangerous weapons!

And even if he felt secure in his fortress in Fangorn, or that he knew the forest of Fangorn like the back of his hand (what remained of the forest, anyway!), not being able to sally out left him with both of his hands tied;

... Oh, but when the the time is darkest, hope is found! A private emissary from the Remnants of Old Religion asked for a meeting with Bildur. Quite skeptical, Bildur agreed ... and was lucky enough to do so;

The meeting had a positive outcome for both parties involved; Explaining to Bildur that the Old Religion can attack Fangorn, with the help of Dark Woods, but not wanting to do so - made Bildur, on behalf of the Fangorn Dwarves, agree to a peace request from the Old Religion, on the grounds that Bildur will respect more the forest, and officially convert to the Old Religion.

Bildur agreed ...

Free people of Lamedon:
Nothing is known in this update about the whereabouts of King Angordor.

It is like everything is shrouded in mystery ...

----
No army movements.

Remnants of Old Religion:
When the envoy from the Dark Woods came, he mistook the uglyness of the Remnants to an orcish uglyness.

Those orcs were real blind ... even if that is passable as accident by a too young emissary, but mistaking Gruumsh, a flaming statue, as an orc chieftain? Too much ...

Gruumsh the Infernal received the message from Lord Glorfindel of Eregion. A reply was in order.

"Lord Glorfindel,

Your reply is acceptable, although hear us out.

Us Drughu or as your folk likes to call us, Drúedain, or Oghor-hai by them orcs, we hold the creator and his instruments in proper awe, but of all we worship most the First Mother, or, Mâm-ugu-Mâm.

We are aware that you do not practice organised worship, as there is no point in worshipping someone you have met in your own life, or in the lives of your grandparents;

But us Drughu have far shorter lives, and for us serving the earth and practicing religion has purpose.

If you claim to share our beliefs in a common denominator, then you will find no trouble erecting shines on your land, treasuring your own. More followers will most certainly follow.

You may find our practices, at first, strange, but the fire at our holy sites does burn bright, and is not estinguished by any force, and you can see it in our glowing red eyes ...

If you claim not to share our beliefs, or you feel too unbothered to adopt such a pure concept as religion just becaue you are too ... old, for it, then .. there are some mysterious powers that we would like to introduce you to.

In a different way.

For the benefit of the world, to clease that which is not clean, be it a first born or a darkish spawn of the netherworld.

I leave it up to you, Lord Glorfindel, as you took the time to answer.

I hope our message cleared any ... misconceptions, regarding us, and regarding our motifs.

No matter what others say .. or how others view us."

----
Move all forces to Enedhwaith.

Rhudaur Folk:
King Arundar felt the shock of having his capital conquered by elves.

"ELVES!! Ahh, Angmar knew best .... how can you trust these ... fossils?"

"Send word to the Witch King. A war is coming! Prepare all of our forces ... and make all the preparations to establish Upper Rhudaur as our new capital."

"Oh, send word to our newfound friend, the orc of Dark Forest. The defiant elves have met their doom..."

----
No army movements yet.
Send word to Angmar and to Dark Wood Orcs towards a rally of forces and attack of elves.

"So the elvesss want us to attack the petty humans? We will ssslaughter them in their beds!" The Witch King hissed at his underlings. "Get the orcs on the move. Take them to Angmar! And ssend a messenger. Let those petty humansss cower in fear at the coming storm."

Send messenger with declaration of war to King Arundar.

The Dominion of Glim Firebeard
He'd done it. Not only had he secured the Iron Hills, but he'd established the alliance with Glodurin, thus securing his border. Glim was overjoyed. The only thing that bothered him was not receiving a reply from Faramir. Having the humans secure Rohan would have made a nice buffer. But it couldn't be helped. There was still work to be done.

The plan was to establish a new capital to match the splendour of the new realm. Dorwinion was the perfect site for it, and so Glim had the miners start digging. It would be a while before the new Hold was ready, though, so a temporary capital was set up in an abandoned human fortress. Shoddy construction work, and above ground, but it was the best they could do for now.

A few days into the construction work, an Elven messenger arrived, much to Glim's surprise. The only Elves he knew of were living in the far West, and so this lad would have had to brave the dangers of the Misty Mountains and the Orc-infested woods. The messenger delivered a congratulatory note from Lindon, as well as jewelry. On closer inspection Glim recognised the craftsmanship of the ancient Elves.

In order to match the gift, Glim had the messenger decked out in a mithril shirt, that he might survive the return trip, and gave him a runed axe from Glim's personal armory to take back to his lord. The axe had been his grandfather's, and was inscribed with runes that made Orcs fear its wielder.

------
Move capital to Dorwinion
Send a return gift to Northern and Southern Lindon.
Move army to Middle Rhovanion

The Noldorin Kingdom of Eregion:
Lord Glorfindel smiled, looking upon the valley that hosted Imladris, a city of the elves built in the Second Age. The fell men of Rhudaur had captured it, but they had in turn fallen to his forces, who were proud to lift elven banners over the haven, which flapped gently in the breeze. The city reminded him of the First Age, of even Gondolin, if he dared. It had not seven proud gates, but the colorful vegetation upon the mountainside, the fair trees swaying with the wind, this, was where an elf belonged.

He smirked at the thought of King Arundar, who was most likely shouting in rage at the loss of the capital. But the men of Rhudaur had left their province too unguarded as they campaigned north, and the elves of Hollin had struck like the Eagles of Manwe. It was time to press the advantage against Rhudaur, but there was a pass that needed to be in their possession: The High Pass. With it, they could control trade and passage between the East and the West. And so, he commanded his armies, led by Lord Saerondr to capture it, attacking with caution, as the High Pass could be easily defended by only few in number.

----
Send elven Hero with a force of 570 elves to capture the High Pass.

The Kingdom of Lindon: - post 1 of 2
Ecthelion was inspecting the object on his table. The lights in the room were dim, but it was still possible to notice a kneeling elf in the other end of the room. Even in these lights one could catch a glimpse of something white under the warriors cape, shimmering like Gilthoniel's stars in the First Age.

"- An axe, but what quality" - whispered one of Gondolin Lords running his fingers down the handle and feeling the runes with his fingertips. Not many knew Khuzdul among Elves, although "knew" would be something of a stretched concept, since dwarves were quite secretive of their language. Ecthelion, in the early days when Gondolin was still a jewel under the skies, had met an elf called Pengolodh, who was a master of languages. Later, after the Fall of Gondolin this elf has remained with Elthelion and Gil-Galad in the Kingdom of Lindon. Ecthelion did not know how, but suddenly the Dwarves of Moria allowed a group of elves together with Pengolodh into Kazad-dhum. After his trips, Ecthelion was eager to learn how the other people lived, however different and rough they may be. So he got some limited basics of Khuzdul from Pengolodh. Indeed, the language was complex and Ecthelion was at the level of novice at best. Not that he had a desire to become a master - the laguage sounded rough and unpolished to his ear. Still, those times have now proved useful, for even with his limited knowledge he was able to gasp the overall message of those runes.

"- A marvelous treasure. The orcs should be afraid indeed. At least I hope I understood it correctly" , smirked the elf. He will have to show this axe to some dwarves later, to know better what is written there.
"- And the mithrill shirt, what a generous gift! Especially now that Moria is under orcish rule!" - he addressed the elf in front of him. "You know, Rilien, the Valar have smiled to you on this journey. You did well and you deserve several days of rest. Enjoy them." And so he sent the elf out.

"- Well, this probably means Lord Glim is satisfied with our message. I probably should send another messenger, with a few birds, to make sure we can use them to communicate more efficiently. I should probably write to Glorfindel, now that he is the closest to Lord Glim, it would be the best to have a small communication post on his frontier. And then, we should work with Lord Glim on our economic cooperation... And discuss the capture of Moria. That last message from Fangorn Dwarves asking for help.." Murmured Ecthelion to himself.

Having written the message to Glorfindel asking to cooperate with him in such an endeavor, he glanced back at the axe.
"-Orcs should fear..." He took out the map and glanced at it. "So this is where he is going to move", inspecting the lands of Dark Wood Orcs. "Indeed. This is probably his target. But what if he is sending me another subtle message?"

"- Edrith" - he called for his assistant. "- Are there any news from Angmar?" Catching an sarcastic look, he laughed. "Of course-of course. Indeed, how could our diplomacy work. They probably burned that message, loathing to touch elvish paper with their filthy hands. But let us make our message clearer. Send another message. And with it, all our troops to attack Forochel. I want an answer. If Lord of Angmar thinks he can just ignore me, he is mistaken. In addition, notify Lord Maedhros and Lord Glorfindel about my movements."

He stopped for a second.
"- And call in Eglerion for the scout division. He and five of his best men will have to deliver this message to Glorfinder and this message to Lord Glim Firebeard. Make sure to give them proper armor and our banners. He will be representing our Kingdom, and his team should not look like a bunch of strides. No matter how generous Lord Glim can be, accepting mithril shirts again will be simply a sign of our weakness. Or me personally as a leader", passed in Ecthelion's mind.

"- Oh, and did you deal with that Old Religion matter we discussed earlier? Asked their representative to come for common exchange of ideas and primary negotiation regarding religious matters?" Getting a positive nod he thanked Edrith and let her go.

After everyone left, he sat near the fireplace and looked back at the axe. "Maybe I should wield it while we attack Forochel? Would be an interesting sight..."

-----
Attack Forochel with all might under the leadership of Ecthelion of Gondolin
Send Glim Firebeard an Offer to establish an Economic and Military Cooperation Zone (peace with economic perks) and to discuss the liberation of Moria from Orcs.
Send Glorfindel and Maedhros updates on what is going on with Angmar.
Send a letter to Old Religion asking for a representative to come to North Lindon to present their ideas in greater details.

The Kingdom of Lindon: - post 2 of 2

While marching to Forochel Ecthelion got another idea.
"- Sent messengers to Rhudaur Folk. Inform them that if they stand against Angmar with us and help us purge evil from this land, or make this evil back into good, we shall negotiate with the Kingdom of Eregion on their behalf to build peaceful relationship. Stress on the point that we shall share our knowledge with them, but they should prove that they stepped away from the evil side . Notify about this deal Lord Glorfindel and kindly ask him to stop hostilities for several days waiting for my updates. Of course, if Rhudaur Forl attacks him, he is by no means bound to respect this "treaty". Tell him personally, that I hope he will see some tactical - stress on tactical - value of Rhudaur Folk. Strategic role of Rhudaur though is completely in his hands."

----
Send messengers to Rhudaur folk to encourage them to betray Angmar.
Send message to Glorfindel informing him about possible deal with Rhudaur.

Angmar: - post 2 of 2
A whimpering, tired orc runner stumbles into the room. The Witch King hissed in frustration at being interrupted. "What is it?"
"Message. Message from the elvesss, you Highness" the orc whimpers in fear.
"More elves? I thought we had peace. Tell them we would like a peace talk, maggot. And being them some of our finest weapons as a gift. Bring some other orcs with you to keep you alive, however. I don't trust those lying elves."

----
Sending back message with confirmation of peace talks, and asking when and where.

Maedhros: - post 1 of 2
Letters had arrived from Lindon: "The time is now. The Orcs shall be eliminated".
These were harsh words, rooted deeply in the heart of not only Ecthelion ,but in all the elves that had lived through the terrors of the First Age of the Sun. And Maedhros had not forgotten the death of his father, his brothers, and the ruthless destruction of the fair elven realms of Beleriand. The Orcs were to perish liked they did on the plains of Anfauglith long ago.

And Maedhros saw Rhudaur struggling, he knew they would not last long. Maybe they could be of use yet. Yes, they were under attack from Angmar, and they had no loyalties, they would be easily persuaded.

----
Attack Western Arthedain with 1380 Elves.
And send word to Rhudaur that they should be rewarded richly if they defend themselves valiantly against Angmar.

Maedhros: - post 2 of 2
Many Orcs had been spotted in Cardolan, but they were not from Angmar. No, they were southerners spreading an ancient religion. Word reached Maedhros that these religious Orcs had a massive army, and were not afraid to attack those who were not open to there teachings. Maedhros decided to try and reach these Orcs before they acted rashly; he sent them a letter that outlined how all the elves under Maedhros were open to their religion. Not that they would convert, but that the Old Religion was not to be prosecuted or judged in Maedhros' lands. It could be practiced freely and openly.

----
Send word to the religious Orcs that their religion is completely legal and freely practices in Maedhros' territories. That peace should be sought between the two factions.

NPC talk and decisions for next update:

Dark Wood Orcs:
Grumtash had a need of fresh soldiers, and one thought keeps bugging him: he's a mighty orc, and all mighty orcs are able to fight on two fronts - and win.

Because the deadlock between him and the dwarves he has to start to turn his attention elsewhere - at least until he gets further reinforcements. The darn dwarves have sturdy defenses ...

Luckily enough for Grumtash, some fresh soldiers in Mirkwood are able to advance towards the main battle fields, in the west.

----
Move the 2340 soldiers from Western Mirkwood towards Anduin Vales
Declare The Noldorin Kingdom of Eregion as enemies on sight

Doom'dr'thak:
After many weeks of hard work, sweat and pain, a new batallion of Orcs were raised and successfully entered the service of Bru'tak Gumdum, under a new banner of his mighty army. The first order was to complete a lengthy march up through the Southern Pass, enter Upper Nurn and travel along its western borders and past the lake, into Nurn, where Bur'tak himself was waiting with his 4000 soldiers.

Many days have passed, with no new battles, and with no new accounts of greatness and of glory - all in the hopes that what comes next will be the talk of legends! And there is nothing - absolutely nothing - stopping them from claiming Mount Doom, in Gorgoroth, now as they get further reinforcements.

There have been a few skirmishes in the past days, both from the significant orcish garrison there and from Gumdum's soldiers, but nothing notable; a few men down, a few beasts down, a few war machines down. Cutting their supplies route and their access to fresh water puts a serious stress on the garrison, and one Bur'tak intends to break as soon as possible, with brute force.

Still, he has to wait.

----
Move all orcs from Khand into Nurn.

East Rho-Drukars:
Even if the alliance with his kin proved to be a good asset in the eyes of the nobility at his court, Glodurin still felt pressured about retaking old lands and reclaiming what was once Rho-Drukar.

Trading Dorwinion - a land his forces fought for, drank in and felt prized for - for another province that has less strategic significance, was difficult to justify to those that had no understanding just how politics work - and there's plenty of those in his court. "An axe is all ya need nowadays ... " , he pondered.

He was, however, in a deadlock. To the south the allies of his allies have to be his friends, and his new friends have an agreement of some sorts with the orcs south of his borders - right after the pass! The orcs to the west don't look any less intimidating - maybe on the contrary.

Glodurin even envied them - even if that was really out of his nature. But how couldn't he? They both had plans of expansion, but Glodurin is locked on 3 provinces while the Dark Wood Orcs smash, crash, and probably destroy everything in their paths.

In the end, he thought .. that may just well be their demise. While everyone knows what those orcs are up to, it means that they can, eventually, be able to put them in check. While on the contrary, no-one expects what's brewing in Eastern Rhovanion!

----
No army movements.

Fangorn Dwarves:
Another day ... another night.

The borders felt safer in the past, even if they were under siege. Now orcs have again been sighted ... although with no clear desire to attack.

Which was a shame, as Bildur really expected them to do so. Something about some new cannons and other devices he'd love to test out ...

Embracing the Old Religion proved to be slightly problematic as well. A dwarf playing with religion is a humurous sight to say the least - especially playing with things he could not understand. But Bildur was still fair, and gave it a go, mostly out of respect to Gruumsh and to the new-found peace between the two.

But not hurting the forests? Not getting .. trees? How could he .. operate? How will his furnances burn, how will his smiths work? They have to do at least a few more batches of swords and axes, body armour and helms ... for he mustered a few more Dwarves to his cause. Dwarves that need protection, and their pockets full. But ... how?

----
No army movements.

Free people of Lamedon:
If it hasn't been obvious until now, it's official:
King Angordor presented himself in front of the crowd, his eyes burning bright:
"My soldier, my friends,

For too long we have persecuted those we shouldn't; for too long we alienated friends and made them foes! for too long we have been blinded, and we have hated.

Not any longer, I say!

Today we extend our apologies to those that did us no wrong, even if we did wrong to them. And today we punish those that needed to be punished.

The Remnants of the Old Religion are now our brethen, and as we will unite our forces against those without honor, I am pleased to announce that we have two new objectives:

First, to regain control of Rohan, with the help of Old Religion.

Second, to do that while we punish the alliance of Harondor and Ithilien - they are the real enemies, hey are those that alienated us and our brethen, they are the ones that went dark, that destroyed our ancient homes and forced us to relocate further to the West.

We may not remember it as the present day finds us fond of our new homes, but our history does not lie.

We prepare for war!"

----
Attack Anorien with all forces.

Remnants of Old Religion:
The Remnants of Old Religion have their agendas fully booked; requests were filled by representatives of Lindon and Eryn Vorn for further meetings regarding the freedom of religion and peace.

Gruumsh the Infernal still remembered the old days with his masters, in Forests of Brethil in Doriath. His kin were in good terms with the elves, in those days, and Gruumsh wanted to keep the relations as such - even if many centuries have passed since then.

Sending religious and peace bearing envoys towards the Kingdom of Lindon and Maedhros means that the expansion further north is assured - and with the help and commitment of the Free people of Lamedon, conquering Rohan is the next step.

----
Move all forces to Enedhwaith.

Rhudaur Folk:
King Arundar found himself slightly puzzled.

There's a huge stack of official papers on his on-camp improvised desk. Alliance and war declarations, mostly. After losing Rhudaur in what's not to be called at all a fair battle - after relocating what remained of the administration and the treasury - and after finding enough bedding for the poor young innocent souls that remained from now on without a father, a mother, an uncle and without a roof over their heads: could King Arundar trust elves any more?

A valid question, seeing that half of the official papers are signed by elvish kings. "Is this a trickery?", the king wonders? "Burn those papers, burn them right away!" the king roared. Then, after what was just a moment, he added: "But wait. Just wait! What ... what is this? This?", pointing to the dispatch from the realm of Angmar. "Are you sure this came from Angmar? Is the seal in order? It is impossible!"

What he saw was the notice ending the alliance, making the two nations now on the verge of war.
"Or is this another trickery?" the king thought. "THIS letter requires a swift answer."

"Witch King of Angmar,

Your orcs threw a nasty piece of paper on my doorstep - in light of recent army movements at my borders, are your orders true? Are you trying to distance yourself from your vassal, or is this nothing more but a cunning trick meant to dissuade them from further attacks?

Awaiting your reply, Esteemed One.

Remaining yours,
King Arundar"

The following letter was to be sent to the elves of the west:
" Elves to the west,

I have received your curious 'demands'. They come at a point in time where one of your brethen disregarded any whatsoever law of wars, wrecked my Capitol and instilled fear into the children. Keep in mind that we are talking about the same king that probably laughted at my attempts of communication, twice in a row.

Tell me, elf kings, how do you plan to make good of your word when trusting elves basically means sealing your own fate?"

King Arundar still waited on any reply from Dark Wood orcs ...

----
Move the capital to Upper Rhudaur

The Noldorin Kingdom of Eregion:
Lord Glorfindel looked in some degree of surprise of Ecthelion's message. Though he quickly grasped the tactical role of Rhuduar, being a buffer against Angmar of sorts, he grudgingly ordered his forces to cease hostilities, though the elves maintained a watchful eye both in the north.

He could not conquer anymore of Rhudaur's land anyway, as much as he would have liked to, unless he dared to overextend his forces, which he was not willing to do.

Angmar:
The Witch King was surprised at the treachery of the elves.
"Well, we'll get then for this! Attack them! Kill their families! Pillage their houses!"
In a dit of anger, the witch King drew up orders to attack the river lhun all out with his 3160 men, only leaving the 2300 forces in the capital to protect it.
A messenger comes running up. "A message from the Rhuadar King!"
"What is this?!" The Witch King Quickly reads it. "Send him a message back. Tell him it was only a ruse..."
