How to Thrive in the World Assembly

How to Thrive in the World Assembly
.

The World Assembly is central to NationStates, and you do not want to miss out! By joining the World Assembly, you can cast a vote on all WA resolutions that reach the floor of either the General Assembly or the Security Council; endorse other WA nations that are in the same region as you are; contribute to Europeia's security and success by endorsing our regional Delegate UPC, Vice Delegate PhDre, and Regional Security Officers Decacon, Le Libertia, Pland Adanna and Primorye Oblast; submit your own resolution proposals for consideration by all of NationStates; and join the Europeian Republican Navy to help further our foreign policy and experience one of the most exciting aspects of NationStates.
[b]Fun Fact:
Did you know? Prior to the founding of the World Assembly on April 1st, 2008, there existed a similar body, the United Nations. It ran from November 4th, 2002, until its closure on March 31st, 2008, due to a complaint from the real-life organization of the same name.

Join the World Assembly
On the World Assembly page, there's a button up top that says Apply to Join. Provided you have an email address on your settings page, clicking on that button will send you an email within a few minutes. In this email, you'll be invited to click a link which will confirm your membership in the WA. If the email doesn't appear in your email inbox, make sure to check the spam box too. (And if it is in the spam box, marking the email as "not spam" should hopefully prevent future emails from getting lost.)

Remember to never have more than one nation in the World Assembly! NationStates rules permit only one World Assembly nation per player, to ensure fair resolution votes and endorsement counts. Having more than one can result in the deletion of all your nations, a year-long ban from the World Assembly, or even your permanent ban from the World Assembly and the game itself.

How to Exchange Endorsements
Once you have joined the World Assembly, you can endorse other nations who are in the World Assembly and in Europeia. You simply go to the nation page of whomever you want to endorse, and, near the bottom of this nation page, just below their National Happenings, you'll see a World Assembly subheading, along with a list of "Endorsements Received." Just below that list of nations, you'll see a button that reads: Endorse NATION. Click that button to have your endorsement applied to that nation. Here is a helpful screenshot:

After you click the "Endorse NATION" button, you should see their endorsement count increase by one, and you should also see your nation's name added to the end of the lists of nations endorsing them. If you would like nations to endorse you back, you can send them a friendly telegram asking them to do so.

There are two very important items to remember when you are exchanging endorsements:
  1. You should absolutely endorse our regional Delegate UPC, Vice Delegate Pichtonia, and Regional Security Officers Decacon, Le Libertia, PhDre, Pland Adanna and Primorye Oblast to strengthen and protect Europeia.

  2. You may not exceed your endorsement cap. If you are a citizen of Europeia and you are endorsing the delegate, your maximum endorsement count is 50. If you are not a citizen but you are endorsing the delegate, your limit is 25 endorsements. If you are not endorsing the delegate, your cap is 10. If you exceed your endorsement cap, you could be ejected from the region. If you ever notice that you have exceeded your cap, you should immediately either temporarily resign from the WA for 1 minute (your endorsement count should reset, and you can then rejoin) or apply for citizenship to raise your cap to 50.

Military Gameplay - Join the Europeian Republican Navy!
NationStates warfare is based primarily on many people using their World Assembly nations to capture the World Assembly Delegacy of a region. (Sorry to those of you who thought it would use your defense stat. It doesn't.) This is done by endorsing one of their number, who will then have the most endorsements in the region and become the World Assembly Delegate. Over the years, many intricate tactics for speed and stealth have been developed based on this simple mechanic.

The Europeian Republican Navy (ERN) is the military force of Europeia. Its primary purpose is advancing Europeia's foreign interests abroad, and in service of that aim it participates in a wide variety of operations. We often cooperate with other regions, too, making naval service a great chance to get to know the NationStates world. The ERN is a Defender military, meaning that it mostly works to reverse vandalism and destruction done to other regions, as well as to defend them from attacks from Raider forces.

The Navy has three divisions: Active Duty, the Militia, and the Civilian Service. Active Duty sailors communicate mainly by Discord, and need to be online for military operations during the NationStates server update periods at 9AM-10AM Pacific and 9PM-10:30PM Pacific.

If your availability is limited or if those time requirements are unreasonable for you, you can still participate in our Navy through the Militia, which has looser requirements and mainly involves moving into regions outside of update times. All Citizens are automatically enrolled in the Militia -- no additional sign-up necessary! If you don't like military gameplay at all, but are creative, then consider joining the Civilian Service! This branch of the Navy is mainly responsible for designing graphics, promotional material, and writing guides for our sailors.

Active Duty Requirements
  • Must be a Europeian citizen

  • Must respond to regular Roll Calls within 72 hours

  • Must be willing to comply with communication standards (check Discord)

  • Must have availability for at least one of the two server update periods

  • Must present a complete and honest application

ERN Militia Requirements

  • Must have a nation in Europeia

  • Must be willing to comply with communication standards (check Discord, the Europeian forums, or telegrams)

  • Must be able to respond to orders within 48 hours

Civilian Service Requirements

  • Must have a nation in Europeia

  • Must be willing to comply with communication standards (check Discord, the Europeian forums, or telegrams)

  • Must present a complete and honest application

To apply for Active Duty or Civilian Service, follow the instructions pinned in the LinkOffice of Naval Recruitment!

After you join, the Grand Admiral (the leader of the Navy) will contact you with some instructions and to schedule training. Feel free to send the Grand Admiral or President (listed on Europeia's region page) a telegram at any time if you have questions!

How to Win Awards
It's easy to win awards that you can use in Europeia through the World Assembly! If, since the previous edition of awards, your nation has...
  • joined the World Assembly, you are eligible for the Medal of Wonder.

  • earned 10 endorsements, while staying below your endorsement cap, you are eligible for the Medal of Advancement.

  • cast the most World Assembly votes, you are eligible for the Medal of Belonging.

  • acquired an endorsement cap of 50 by both endorsing the regional delegate and becoming a Europeian citizen, you are eligible for the Medal of Opportunity.

  • endorsed our Delegate Le Libertia, Vice Delegate Mancheseva City, and Regional Security Officers Primorye Oblast, Pichtonia, Pland Adanna, and UPC, you are eligible for the Medal of Security.

  • participated in an operation of the Europeian Republican Navy, you are eligible for the Medal of Service.

If you earn all six awards, you officially receive the title of WA BOSS (acronym intended). You can earn all awards and titles multiple times.

We hope to see you hanging around in the hallowed halls of the World Assembly. Good luck!
