Commonwealth Armed Forces

The Commonwealth Armed Forces

I (your name), swear by Almighty Antioch that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His/Her Excellency (Supreme Chancellors name) and his/her successors and that I will as in duty bound honestly and faithfully defend His/her Excellency, and his/her successors in person, crown and dignity against all enemies and will observe and obey all orders of His/Her Excellency, and his/her successors and of the generals and officers set over me.
The Commonwealth Armed Forces is a branch of the Ministry of Defence primarily responsible for ground based military operations. They launch offensive operations from land bases against land-based targets and are used in capturing and establishing control over enemy-held territory. They make up the bulk of the Ministry of Defenses' martial arm, consisting of two branches: The Commonwealth Infantry and the Commonwealth Mechanized Cavalry. The Commonwealth Armed Forces is the Commonwealth's shield, whilst it's navy is the sword.

Commonwealth Infantry

The Commonwealth Infantry is the backbone of the Commonwealth Military. Known as one of the most well-trained and professional military's in the System, the Commonwealth Infantry have been deployed throughout the system preforming a number of different tasks. Every Infantryman within the Commonwealth Infantry is a volunteer, having signed up with a three year term of service. Regiments within the Infantry are raised from the nine different Kingdoms e.g the First Voach Infantry Division. There is at least one mixed Regiment, though that is one of the smallest throughout the Regiments of Foot.

The 1/4/16/64 Plan is the standard mode of operations for the Commonwealth Military after the Adi Nova Concordance.

The plan divided the four subordinate corps of each army into smaller and smaller components, with one corps remaining intact as a mobile strategic reserve while the other three were split up. This allowed each sector army to coordinate one corps-level operation, four brigade-level operations, sixteen regimental missions, and sixty-four battalion-level operations concurrently throughout the army's theatre of operations. Each corps was also paired with four Commonwealth Navy assault lines, containing two Autumn class Cruisers and Paris-Class frigates, allowing great strategic mobility.

Battle Dress Uniform

Components

Helmet

Servicemen CH263 helmets cover the entire face, with a T-visor for exterior visibility. The CH263 are mounted with hig-tech equipment such as a holographic Heads Up Display [HUD] that displays vital information on the go, helmet recorders and built in comm-link, speakers and microphone. The CH263 and its variants are standard issue within the Commonwealth Military and Navy. Unlike the CH252, the CH263 is able to operate in all sorts of climates. The helmet itself is made of the incredibly strong and versatile metal alloy; Adamantium.

Armour

M67C Body Armour, consisted of seven parts: Shoulder pauldrons, wrist gauntlets, breastplate, codpiece, kneepads, thigh and shin guards clasped over a body stocking. Each piece of Body Armour is made from Adamantium, an incredibly strong and versatile metal, able to protect the wearer from most types of blaster and ballistics fire. M67C Body Armour also comes with webbing around the waist where Commonwealth Infantrymen are able to store a multitude of different items such as their standard issue canteen or side arm.

While this armor protects the wearer from harm caused by weaponry it also has temperature-regulation units integrated into it to keep the wearer at optimum supportability while eliminating the need to change depending on the environment. This also reduces the enemy's ability to track soldiers via thermal energy as it is mostly hidden beneath this armor.

Infantry Burgen

Each Commonwealth Infantryman is given a standard issue Burgen, a type of durable metal backpack. Much like the rest of the Infantryman's armour, it to is made of adamantium. Each standard issue Infantry Brurgen consists of:

1. Entrenching tool - A miniature spade with handle capable of folding and fitting in to purpose built entrenching pouch on the back of the webbing, famous among the forces because the Infantry are the only arm to equip the entrenching tool for digging out shell-scrapes, cutting branches with the serrated edge, or fighting in emergencies.
2. Weapon cleaning kit - A small bag that can fit inside a utensil webbing pouch, inclusive of a whet stone, a plain rag, mineral oil, wax paste for polishing. In recent addition the Infantry now also carry leather shield coverings to prevent their shields from warping.
3. Mess-tins - a smaller tin resting in aside a larger tin, one of which can be used for cooking and the other personal cleaning, both are to be cleaned extensively after use before storage.
4. Hexemene cooker - A small tripod system used to prop prongs facing upward, flat side on the ground, to prop up mess-tins whilst the fire is lit up underneath the cooker through use of hexemene tablets.
5. Bed roll - stored tightly rolled up either on the side of a patrol pack (burgen) or atop it through the use of bungees.
6. Housewife kit - Thread and needle used for patching up buttons, buckles, and rips. .

Doctrine

The Commonwealths Standing Army's strategy is based on several principles that distinguish it from the Marines, namely their focus on extended large-scale operations and their provision for colonial garrisons. They are numerically superior to the Marines, but are trained in a more specialization-focused program, as opposed to the Corps' belief in training towards blanket personnel combat readiness. This decision is only logical, as the Army does not have the luxury of having such small numbers as their spaceborne cousins, but must train their recruits within the same time frame. As a body, the Army's post-Great War doctrine is drawn from the following basic points:

1. Decisively achieving victory in prolonged, large-scale engagements with known hostile forces by using overwhelmingly superior force,

2. Rapid, armored mobility on the battlefield utilizing heavy (tanks) and light (APC) armor, supported by a large fleet of support aircraft.

3. Delivering precise and destructive support against known or recently-identified enemy targets to any branch of the Commonwealth military.

4. Providing humanitarian support, disaster relief, and civil support for any colony or sovereignty in need of assistance.

5. Maintaining a military presence on the surface of all Commonwealth-occupied territory.

This being said, the Army focuses more intensively on their armour, air, and support groups than do the Marines, having more supplies of the variants of tanks, VTOL craft, artillery, and miscellaneous auxiliary vehicles that all Commonwealth Military units use. Since they are more geared towards prolonged combat, rather than fast and deadly reaction, the Army has been known as the "Anvil of the Commonwealth," the solid and armored companion of the "Hammer"-like Marines.

Commonwealth Mechanized Cavalry

The Commonwealth Mechanized Cavalry is the Commonwealths mechanized branch. Similar in structure to the Mechanized Divisions of the Old Kingdom, the Commonwealth Mechanized Cavalry is the second crucial piece in the machine that is the Commonwealth military. Without them, the Infantry would not be able to operate at full capacity. The Commonwealth Senate have commissioned companies such as Misriah Armoury, AMG Transport Dynamics and Chalybs Defense Solutions to produce weapons systems for the Commonwealth Mechanized Cavalry.
