The Eternal Celestial Regency of Daehanjeiguk (commonly called "the Great Han Empire" or simply "the Han Empire") is a large, ancient nation composed of a largely homogeneous but increasingly diverse population. As a civilization, the Han Empire has a long, storied history, which encompasses many nations that slowly became absorbed into its hegemony. While the Han Empire dates to its earliest days over 4700 years ago, the current dynasty was established in the year 4088, with its capital at Hangyeong. The current capital is Gyeongju.

Until recently, the Empire focused largely on increasing its central authority, caring little for the affairs of other countries, near and far. After the reign of the Gwangmu Emperor, however, the Han Empire became increasingly entangled in international affairs within the NSverse. Among its most significant contributions were the massive proliferation of Han soft power - economics, diplomacy, and culture. For a time, the Imperial Football Team was one of the top-ranked teams in the NSWC. Unfortunately, in spite of its great power, repeated and increasingly violent attacks by terrorist organizations - particularly the Mujeongbu - put increasing strain upon the Imperial government, forcing a more recent policy of isolation, insularity, and domestic devolution of government authority. A period of several years saw a quasi-state of civil war in the Han Empire, although the conflict with the Mujeongbu organization quickly spread elsewhere, permeating different countries within the Han continent and abroad.

During the conflict, the Imperial House was vacant, due to the untimely disappearance of the Emperor following calamitous attacks against the former capital at Hangyeong and the new capital at Gyeongju. A military regency was established to help ensure order and calm during the absence of Imperial rule and to find the Emperor's family. With the conflict nearing its end, a new Emperor was found.
